  1. Best disco song: Instant Replay by Dan Hartman
  2. Hiya The Studio 54 night at the Tunnels got me thinking, I seem to be the only one in my group of friends that likes disco music. It's just so fun and happy, I love it!! Cheers Jayne
  3. Lol, quality On a completely unrelated note, I also like that Aberdeen is beside the sea. I come from (s)Cumbernauld, a land-locked shit hole.
  4. good on you mate, great review. When is your next gig? Jayne x
  5. The only bit that I avoid at night on the weekends is Chicago Rock/Jumpin Jaks. I don't know why they don't just close the place, there is a police van more or less permanently parked outside on weekends. Apart from that, I feel quite safe in Aberdeen.
  6. yeah, aka-ska are playing at Wickerman. Should be awesome!!
  7. Does anyone have something good to say about Aberdeen?
  8. I think that we have some very encouraging things in the arts up here. We have some great musicians up here, and the Creative Cultures networking nights are working hard to get loads of different people from the arts together. On a completely unrelated note, here are some of my favourite (mostly foodie) places in Aberdeen: The sushi man, Aberdeen Market Earl of Sandwich, the Green The Globe Inn, north silver street - great food great music Fusion, north silver street - currently filling the late-night-coffee void that was left when Beans closed down. Rock Salt and Snails, St. Swithin Street. My all-time fave place to have lunch and chill. It also has some 'funcy' stuff that you can't get elsewhere. The Hub, university of Aberdeen. Fresh pizza and fajitas, food is nice and pretty cheap. Nice little coffee place downstairs, and the whole place is open to the public. Also, I dearly miss the restaurant at The Tunnels. The food was f*cking amazing and it was a reasonable price. I wish it would come back.
  9. Crombie Johnston is good for your first year, but is way more expensive than Hillhead. Or you could try the accomodation on linksfield road. If you don't mind going further out but still want something nice you could try king street and spring gardens that are run by Unite. Or try Ardmuir, they are a great company: Student Accomodation Aberdeen - Ardmuir Limited
  10. I think Pie Shop are definately a great covers band rather than a tribute band. You can tell they love the music when they perform, and they also try to give it their own interpretation. All I can say is that I have never sat on my ass for a Pie Shop gig, they get me dancing every time :-) Jayne
  11. I think Pie Shop are ace, they really get a crowd going. I enjoy their gigs because they are clearly fans of the music, and the enjoyment that they have while playing really comes across. I think you should go to the gig, if you like Rock tunes I think you will have a good time :-). Cheers Jayne
  12. Dod Morrison has always done a great job for us dods gigs + other things | IF I AM THERE I WILL TAKE PICS.
  13. katrina and the waves - walking on sunshine is that allowed....?
  14. You should put this in the gig listings mate :-)
  15. LMAO you are a slut bag Stew
  16. Didn't some people leave your band quite recently?
  17. It concerns me that some women just want to be rich and famous for the sake of it, I think this is the motive for these kind of shots. I think these girls are doing these shots are a quick and easy route to being rich. It may be disguised as art in order to justify it, but I'm sure most women wouldn't be doing it if they didn't get some money. If she has brains and she is not at least trying to use them, that just makes her damn lazy. That's the worse aspect of it, in my opinion. I've worked as a life model at art school before, so maybe I'm being hypocritical, I don't know. So yeah there are a fair share of folk in Aberdeen who have seen my bits, but I liked working there and it was to help fund my way through uni. Is that the same?
  18. My fiance might have something to say about it if I did
  19. if people were making more babies then maybe there would be an argument for over population, but the fact is that we need immigrants to plug the tax gap created by our ageing nation.
  20. this will fill you in: YouTube - ScottishRepublican's Channel ..'perhaps you have heard that I am looking for a lady friend. I don't think Condi (Rice) is interested unfortunately....' *pause for comic effect* it's just dire.o_O
  21. Peter, you say that policitians are cowards, Harlaw is an Academy of crime, blah, blah. You are good at using strong words and vitriol, but why don't you try providing evidence for your wild accusations? Smart people decide their opinions with reasoned debate, not doom-laden rants.
  22. Hi everyone Got a gig coming up and your singer or sax player can't make it? Give me a shout. I am a senior choral scholar with the university of aberdeen, so I can sight-sing and I learn new songs quickly, a whole set learned in a few hours. I also play alto sax; I am a member of a ska tribute band that gigs regularly, so I can pick things up quickly on the sax too. I am looking for paid depping gigs, I'm open to offers. Cheers jayne Jayne Carmichael - 1st Soprano
