  1. I've been trying to memorise the music, but I still get the 'rabbit caught in the headlights' feeling when I completely forget what I'm doing :-) Having said that, it is getting easier. Just takes time I guess.
  2. Quick update: the two sax players now have wireless mics, so more opportunity for dancing about like tubes! Huzzah!
  3. My friend and I went on a hunt for an all day breakfast. We went to Beluga and were told that they had run out of stuff an hour before they were meant to finish doing brunch. The justice mill one is only served until 12, the only place we could find that still did cooked breakfast in the afternoon was the office. Oh my god, what a breakfast it was. I used to frequent the Illicit Still, but now it's just a big disappointment. It's nowhere near as good as it used to be. The Illicit Still has now passed on it's cooked breakfast mantle to The Office - it is a shining beacon of perfection for those pursuing a Full Scottish. I paid six quid and got two bits of bacon, two pork sausages, toast, beans, two black puddings, two fried tomatoes and two fried eggs. All cooked fresh, it was amazing!!! I'm not going to bother trying to find other places that do all day breakfasts, it truly can't get much better than a Full Scottish at The Office. Quality!!
  4. That dancefloor under Fopp is really intruiging, I think it would be ace for some gigs!! Do you know how to get in touch with the guy that owns the building?
  5. I think Amadeus is a good shout. I think it would be great to see some dis-used buildings being performed in. How about the old Tivoli?
  6. Groove Cruise play a special bank holiday weekend set with funk and soul sounds that will get you moving.
  7. Yeah you're right, I think I was just being a bit lazy. Need to use my muscles more! Cheers guys.

I like it. I think some bits need to be 'blended' more if you see what I mean, they need to be quieter as the unique sound that they have makes them stand out anyway. Did you use steel drums? I think it definately has a lot of potential, top notch :-) Do you have any more?
  11. Do you wanna get off the street cos you're beginning to feel the heat? The rockingest rocksteady beat of Aka-ska is ready. It's willing. And it's able to turn Aberdeen into a pile of skanking sweaty lunatics. Bring it on!! With support from local punk/ska outfit The Hijacks and DJ Dan, the Reggae Man.
  12. Groove Cruise are a local soul and funk band. We are playing on behalf of Brake, a road safety charity.
  13. Hi everyone Following a very positive and welcoming reception from my recent support gig, I have now set up a myspace page. This may be quite obvious to some people, but this is not a professional recording :-) It was recorded using a minidisc recorder which I set up during the start of one of my singing lessons. I just let it run for the duration, and then chopped up the songs using Total Recorder. I would like to know what people think. Constructive criticism is welcomed, but I won't take any heed of people slagging me off just for the sake of it. Cheers Jayne www.myspace.com/carmichaeljayne
  14. Groove Cruise play soul and funk covers that will get you dancing.
  15. Thanks Thanks to everyone who was at the gig last night. I had a lot of positive comments and encouragement, which has inspired me to look for more gigs in Aberdeen. Cheers Jayne

  20. Festival virgin Hey folks I haven't been to any sort of music festival, and I know it apparently varies one to the other, but what should I expect? I'm thinking I need wellies and deoderant :-)
  21. I am a member of said ska band and yes, it would appear that Glassel is on, unless we are being hired to stand in a field... If you book them, they will come!!!!
  22. I saw Kathryn Sawyers at the Pride festival, she was ace!!
  23. Hi everyone I am the newly appointed social convenor for a choir in Aberdeen, and I would like to hold some fundraising events for the choir. One idea I had is for a ceilidh, can anyone recommend a good ceilidh band based in Aberdeen? Perhaps you are in a ceilidh band and would like to volunteer your services :-) As you can probably guess, there is very little money available in advance for payment. If I organise a ceilidh payment for the band would come from the door tax. Cheers Jayne
  24. Quick and shameless plug: What will you think of my attempts to sing classical vocals in Tunnel 2? I'm getting a feeling I will be shot down.
