  1. waaaaay too much info, cheers for that. Burlesque ain't about shagging though, in fact you could define it as the art of not shagging in a way. That's why they call it a strip-tease.
  2. yeah I don't know if it would have been his cup of tea. I think since it is a classical piece that he would find it 'snobby' or something. Paul has done really well, he has kept the same understated feel to it, but it still has that sense of comedy. I will see if my myspace will let me put up the midi file.
  3. This is one that I think Alan Cynic will be interested in. T'was you, dear Alan, that played 'Beautiful Cosmos' by Ivor Cutler when I heard it for the first time. It was a gig that you played supporting Thomas Truax at Cafe Musa. I thought that the words were ace: 'this is our universe, cups of tea'. My fiance and I were up at the balcony and we thought 'that's us!!' I thought that since you seem to be an Ivor Cutler fan you would be interesting in knowing that I have commissioned my mate Paul to compose a classical piece using the words from 'Beautiful Cosmos'. It will have it's debut at our wedding in a few weeks time. If anyone is interested in hearing it, I can forward a midi file or a sibelius file to them. Cheers Jayne
  4. Rickshaws!!! That's what they're called. Aberdeen needs more rickshaws :-)
  5. Hello I am setting up a new ska covers band to do private and corporate gigs, and I really need a drummer and keyboardist. We already have horns, singer, bass and guitar sorted. Our first gig is on 4th October so I need someone who is a fast learner and has loads of experience with gigging. I need someone who can listen to the CD and be ready to play to a decent standard and tighten it up with a few rehearsals, then gig. We would only be gigging about once per month if that, so it wouldn't intrude with other commitments. Many thanks Jayne tel: 07914 226139
  6. 'population paste' always makes me giggle :-)
  7. I think Aberdeen needs this new bypass and also more public transport. Not just more buses, but more options: trams, trains, those wee guys that have carriages on their bikes, bring it all back!!
  8. is that referring to Jackass or something?
  9. Isn't she in the running for the tartan clef thing or something? Oh dear
  10. I am somewhat disturbed by the answers on here... When I was at uni and I was out and if my mates and I were a bit pished I used to try and pimp them out. ie. I used to dare them to snog each other for money. Everyone was so pished that they didn't really care and got it on for a laugh :-) The going rate for snogging a mate was a fiver but that was about five years ago. What with inflation and everything I think the going rate is probably a tenner by now.
  11. I'm getting married soon :-)
  12. Hi everyone Feugh Fest has now come to a close for this year, and we would appreciate your comments on what you thought of the day: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=p_2bpsfMUw8CCmUyHKfaHWsg_3d_3d We welcome all comments whether positive or negative; it will all go towards improving things for next year. Many thanks Jayne Feugh Fest: Home
  13. This is all great guys, thanks. Please save some of your energy for the survey, which will be winging it's way to you soon.
  14. It's part of my job to promote Feugh Fest. I'm not going to go into details, but my motivations have never been financial. I am quite involved in the music scene both at Uni and at gigs, a lot of the work and performances I do is for free. For me, it's all about the music. Feugh Fest is about getting the best live music there is and bringing it here. I'm not going to say that we will only put on Aberdeen bands as that would make us inflexible, we will try to get whichever bands people say they want. What if one year there were no decent live bands in Aberdeen? I'm not going to pick bands just because they live here. They should get a gig based on merit, pure and simple. I don't think that putting on bands from different genres and different places is catch-all. The common theme here is that we are aiming to appeal to people who appreciate good live music and great musicianship, and that can come from any place or any genre.
  15. I didn't want to use a different username, as I wanted people to know it was me. Some posts were meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek, but perhaps that didn't come across effectively. I now make an effort to state that I am biased so I don't get accused of any deception.
  16. Ok, so that's two negative comments about BNH and Bad Manners, but that is weighted against the dozens of compliments. Not everyone is going to like the same bands and some comments are the complete opposite from others ie. some people want more covers bands to play. It would be helpful to me if you were specific about what you didn't like about them: is it the genre of music you don't like, did you think that their performance wasn't tight enough, etc? As for trying to spread the word about Feugh, we were in discussions with every single band that was mentioned in posts, but we decided against them in favour of more local acts. That decision has been justified by the comments here. People seem to want less big-names and more local bands. I would love to hear people's ideas about what you want from Feugh Fest. I am typing up a survey as we speak. The link will be uploaded here and onto the festival blog, myspace, and bebo. Thank you for all comments, positive and negative. They are all really helpful and will go towards improving things for next year.
  17. Cheers for the feedback, I'm definately taking it all on board, but I have to say that you are alone (so far) in your assessment of the Heavies. I have heard some good stuff about Haight Ashbury and The Lorelei too, though I personally wasn't able to hear much of the bands. Popup really stood out for me. You are totally right about getting up and coming bands; we have kept slots aside for band comps. We want to support local acts as much as we can, so there will always be opportunities for great local acts to play.
  18. BNH gig all over the world, and at regular intervals. You are right that not many people stayed until the end, but I think it was more about being past people's bed-time than about the bands. We want to be a family-friendly festival so for next year we are toying with the idea of finishing earlier. I think most other fests end at about 10/11pm. The most positive responses I have had are about the Brand New Heavies, with Bad Manners a close second.
  19. The mystery of Feugh Fest: who is the mankini man....?
  20. I think this guy has to win the Funcy Dress competition. Sorry Biz :-)
