  1. Nah Wishbone Ash is just the band i was seeing tonight... A slightly older audience than Him's by the sound of things... lol
  2. Well i was at Wishbone Ash this evening, and i thought they were fucking awesome!!!!!!! Tho admittedly some of the lyrics from their newer songs were cheesy, they still totally rocked!
  3. Well still not heard from ANY drummers. Tho good few guitarists... and one bassist, al of whom i appologise if i havent gotten back to you yet, just been really busy. If any of you have msn, my email adress is Thesultanofswing86@hotmail.com, so feel free to add me so we can talk more. Also other instruments are welcome, not just guitars. It'd be really ace to have some keyboards/synth, flute, and brass even...
  4. Yeah Sillio, i like your ambient style. That is something else i'd like to incorporate into this band. If your interested let me know... Also, any bill bruford-esq drummers out there? lol
  5. The jamming on this past sunday went really well i thought, but its a shame that in the last two weeks there haven't been as many jammers. It would be coolif some more were down for next week. Especially as I'll finally get to perform some hawkwind with someone who knows the lyrics!!!!!!!!
  6. I can't, to be honest, imagine a lot of people looking to play this type of music, but i'd like to give it a shot. This is the type of music im listening to pretty much all the time at the moment and I think it would certainly make a change to hear some space/prog/psychadelic style stuff on the scene, cuz i've never really heard this type of thing going around... I'm a guitarist and would like to hear from anyone interested in this, regardless of the preferred instrument for now. Influences include: King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Steve Hillage, Hawkwind, Tool, and Tangerine Dream (mainly their stuff with guitar taking the lead) This is really just an idea, but i'd really like to give it a shot. Anyone interested PM me or just reply. Thanks and hope to hear from some of you... Rory
  7. to be more precise with my choice: Steve Hillage - Glorious om riff Its just the best piece of music ive ever heard and i seriously recommend everybody look into it. It's very near impossible for someone not to like it!
  8. Ah that would be amazing Alan!!! Cheers! I'll be sure to bring along the sitar then!
  9. Ah well its atleast good to hear from another prog fan... he he he Well i'm also a big fan of Indian music. Raga scales being played in a space rock way sounds totally awesome in my opinion. I have an electric sitar to compliment that idea too so i'd like to be able to use that. If you go to the link i've given and download the mp3 called The Void (from my last band), thats the type of stuff i'm talking about and i'd like to do more of that kind of thing as well as fast energetic prog (in the style of King Crimson i.e. Discipline era, Elephant Talk, thela hun ginjeet, Red era etc) http://www.angelfire.com/psy/thevoid

  12. King Crimson - just all their stuff Steve Hillage - Fish Rising Wishbone Ash - Argus Tangerine Dream - Rubycon
  13. Yeah I haven't even seen you play solo yet! Totally looking forward to it!
  14. i really, really, really dont like HIM, i'm afraid... Not much else to say
  15. Yeah my dad did indeed fall off his chair, i hear. haha Anyway, i'm back in Aberdeen for good now and i intend to be there on Sunday for the jamming. Really looking forward to it as well. Ah, great to be back!
  16. aye, Flash, these be strange times... strange times indeed. They joked about going down so i told them they should. lol, i cant imagine how out of place they looked heee heee heee *cringes*
  17. jeez it sucks being in edinburgh lol
  18. I really, really, reallly, really don't like HIM. Ain't exactly the best live performers either in my opinion. Every time i hear the someone say "HIM", I get this huge urge to slag the band off. It is good that such a big band are coming to Aberdeen tho, but it's really not my thing. Enjoy yourselves tho, by all means
  19. hey yeah, thanks for the kind words guys! Yeah we had a really, really enjoyable gig. Thanks again to everyone who showed up, and we hoped you enjoyed it. We will hopefully manage to reform for a gig here and there, we'll see how it goes. There is another band called "The Void" in Edinburgh... not sure what to do about that yet... hehe Thanks again
  20. Thanks for the kind words people. We are hoping to reform for the rare gig in aberdeen tho. Pretty keen to play the moorings again. Only played it once before, and it was probably the most enjoyable gig we've played despite the cock ups that may have occured during our set. hehe, that was a really good night as i remember! Looking forward to seeing some of you on wed
  21. Half of us going to edinurgh to study. But we'll try to reform for a few aberdeen gigs. Unfortunately i'm still getting told "2 weeks" every 2 weeks by bruce millers. Tho i've now been informed that the company receiving the sitar have got the paper work and so they will get it within the next day or so (which should have been yesterday), then it will take another wee while to get it up here. So not sure whether it will be on wednesday. Really, really hope so, especially since i first expected it on the 8th of June. PS I hope to start a prog/space rock band in edinburgh, so if anyone knows anyone, do inform me. I know nothing about the Edinburgh scene right now, but from what little i've learned, i don't have much to look forward to. Anyone know anything more about this?
  22. hey everyone, this is just a last attempt to bring as many people as possible into drakes on Wednesday seeing as it's going to be our last gig here in Aberdeen. Would be nice if a few folks came along to see this. Emotions will be high and all that jazz so... And if you don't want to come to see us, you might want to make it down for Park Attack, Otherman, and Popcorn Fiend Hope to see some of you there
  23. King Crimson rock. Great live album is "Cirkus; A young person's guide to king crimson live" First cd focusses on their 80s stuff, which i think is totally awesome. Crazy energetic songs like "Elephant Talk" and "Thela Hun Ginjeet" totally do it for me. Second cd is their earlier career, but admittedly the recording quality isn't great on the cd 2. But i'd buy the cd if only for cd one. The 80s songs sound much, much, much better live, with certain backing vocals removed from "Three of a perfect pair" (really makes the difference in the song!) Also i never really heard zappas music as prog either. I don't really know how to put it in words, but i get a feel from prog rock thats different from the feel of Zappa. Also, anyone heard Fripp's stuff he did with "The League of Crafty Guitarists". I recommend you look into the song "A connecticut Yanky in the court of king arthur". I laugh every time i hear it.
