  1. yeah i was really excited when i first heard this news. I actually even considered trying to get a ticket... no chance! It absolutely stinks!
  2. Don't let this thread die! Too funny! More, more, more...
  3. Not the same guy who dances at the moorings on friday and saturdays? Never seen him wearing a bandana, but hes ALWAYS there marching around the by the stage at the moorings. Who the hell is that guy?
  4. Anyone know the sketch "Alfie Noakes"? It's funny as hell. My favourite Derek and Clive sketch along with "Mother". "mother" is absolutely fucking hillarious!
  5. It's not as bad as i first imagined it would be actually. A bit to "in your face" and loud, but a few moments which still made me laugh in there nevertheless. The humour does seem a bit forced. Not nearly as good as Ricky Gervais
  6. Anyone familiar with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's "Derek and Clive"? Just wondering what everyone makes of it on here. I, personally, find the cds utterly hillarious. Only too often has it resulted in me and my friends in spasms of laughter Too many people take offense to that type of humour, missing the irony of it. Anyone else on here enjoy them?
  7. oh yeah. lol oh Alfie Noakes, im daft
  8. I believe i was fishing out my kraut rock/psychadelia/progressive stuff from the rock 'n' pop section admittedly... Doesn't really make sense, but my music always seems to just get lumped in with the masses. One day Virgin, and HMV will have a dedicated "Space Rock" section in their shops
  9. I love the office. Really curious to see what the US version is like. Anyone know where i can get some footage of it?
  10. Virgin's pigeon holing put aside, i think they deserve some credit for their music selection. I've recently found a lot of the obscure stuff, which i'd normally have to order from any other aberdeen-based music shop, in there. I think they have a "man on the inside" who is ordering all those "Faust" cds... Wouldn't mind knowing who he is...
  11. When we played in Birmingham's "Hard Rock Cafe" recently (during a showcase of UK bands), for around 7 hours we sat and watched all the other bands - and there were LOTS of them. All the bands played variations on metal and punk. It was really frustrating, when finally a fantastic blues act, MI4, came on and totally blew everyone away. It was so refreshing, and was just what I needed as a wake-up call. We left shortly after them, and probably missed a lot more of the same stuff we had been listening to all day. Although this was a showcase, and not a gig, its just an example of how i feel a varied line-up is necessary. I would find myself getting more bored at a gig dedicated to a genre, as opposed to a variety of bands. I'm actually slightly amazed at how varied line-ups seem to attract less people...
  12. Higher maths is just silly, but i did start to enjoy it more after i realised my maths teacher was into progressive rock. haha. Every time he came over to check my work the topic would just be changed to music. Eventually he (and all my other teachers when they realised what musc i listened to) just started bombarding me with all their old music collection. My photography teacher ended up actually giving me an Eric Clapton cd. Meanwhile good ol' Mr Craig would be lending me the Ozric Tentacles and lots of strange electronica. It did start to get annoying after a while, but hey it beats actually working...
  13. Ah, now that you mention it, yeah i've noticed you do say that an awful lot with that expression on yor face. haha. Does this mean your not listening to me?! lol
  14. God i hated maths. They used to give us a double period of it first thing in the morning on mondays, tuesdays and fridays. I just think thats plain unhealthy. Would it not make sense to help students become more awake by giving them a subject they enjoy? Then perhaps break them in gently to maths in the afternoon... I always thought a double period of maths was pure hell. Nothing worse! Me and Calum thus just sat and wrote maths poetry for the double periods instead of working. They were some really, really depressing poems...
  15. Well i'm done with spreadsheets and onto databases... look at me go! The IT centre at college is so dull!!!!!!! The sound of a million keyboards tapping and mouse clicks is slowly pushing me over the edge here.
  16. How do people deal with situations when they either haven't been listening/understanding/or can't actually make out what the person is saying to them but want to be polite and make some form of acknowledgement? If someone just keeps going on about boring shite i would normally just drift off in my head and simply every now and again say: "Yeah" (with polite laugh) "hmm" (with thoughtful nod) "Thats the way to go" (with smile) Not that i'm in this situation lots... I'm sure everyone who has met Roger Kimmet has been in this situation before... (This is me keeping myself entertained during IT at college - i suppose i best get back to my spreadsheets!) haha what shite...
  17. I have noticed that it seems every Friday i'm in the moorings, i arrive having just missed Identity...
  18. I also recently bought the Jah Wobble 3cd anthology. A lot of crap stuff on it, but a lot of really good ambient, middle easternness about a lot of the music which i really like. Lots of weird arrangements too which is also pleasing to hear.
  19. Well yeah, i guess your right. The "scene" is hardly press, but still atleast everyone on these forums has heard of this band now, and many will be curious to see them live, even if for the wrong reasons...
