  1. I thought the Misfits were a fucking joke when they played the Lemon Tree, dragging a legendary name through the mud for a fast buck. However, I'm sure I was in the minority by not enjoying the gig, as everyone esle seemed to be having a good time. Maybe cos I'd just seen Sikth and Hopesfall actually do something EXCITING at Kef mere hours earlier. Bet you'll sell the gig out mind....
  2. Wha? Thats some gig. Surely Killswitch would headline, deserved or otherwise?
  3. Now thats a bit interesting...
  4. Keith and Maxim aren't on the record, but will be in the live show....
  5. Poof. Food and shelter is for wusses. If you really loved music' date=' you'd eat rocks and bathe in bleach. Fair enough. Thought KLATB would be up your (back) alley, and was surprised by the OTT criticism. But hey. What do you think of the new Icarus Line album? Unlistenable pish, in my opinion.....
  6. How ace are they? Orange Rhyming Dictionary has to be one of the best indie-post-hardcore-pop records ever. Like the Pixies playing Weezer. Good stuff. Downloaded Four Cornered Night - good, but not as ace as ORD.
  7. What ever happened to The Kill Me Club, Munch? Or are you merely fulfilling that old cliche of the harshest critics being failed rock stars.....
  8. Are you SERIOUSLY quoting the Wildhearts as an example of a stable line up?!?!?!?! Er, have you not been paying attention? So three drummers, two bass players (actually, three, I think...), two singers (including Snake), and X amount of 2nd guitarists (like, 4, no?) PLUS ACTUALLY SPLITTING UP (!) is a good example of longevity? Uh huh....
  9. KLATB are extremely entertaining, but I do feel it's a waste of G's talent - but hey, he's having fun with a bunch of mates, who are actually worth the price of admission to a local gig (a rarity indeed), and who am I to complain about that?
  10. Boring, boring, BORING argument. Stop it now, or I'll slap you all silly. Wildhearts - Ace. Looooong time fan. New stuff ain't as good as old. Still enjoyable, and will be an ace gig. Finch - Newish. Ace album, full of SONGS and TUNES and RIFFS. Pretty damn good when I saw 'em at Tuts. Just cos they're "now" sounding, doesn't make 'em bad. Get. A. Grip. All of you.
  11. Yyyaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  12. But...but....I won't live here anymore!
  13. Broken Oath do indeed destroy, but I'm working nights, so cannot attend.....

See, that's a much better way to shut me up! However, I am kinda skeptical of these "reports", as they often pop up around any band that has its beliefs brought up. Good article though. I read it, but it does come across as extremely patronising to christians (they're just "wrong"), but I could see and agree with several points raised. However, Christianity (like Hardcore), has the ability to evolve, and so much of the argument was aimed at out-dated and extremist views (yes, I read that chapter too, but to compare selective belief of thousands of years of individual interpretations and revisions, not always done with the religion as the intended beneficiary, with "smoking and being straight edge, is preposterous!). I'd like to point out that I'm agnostic, at best, and my defence of Christians in Hardcore is coming from my view of Hardcore and unifying, not discriminating. I don't agree with the fundamental argument that the two cannot co-exist, or that one uniformly excludes the other. That said, Dave Rowlands is infinately more hardcore than me!
  18. I've heard good things of HumanFly. Beecher are obviously ace. Never heard Stand (I have no record player - any CD stuff about?), and you keep going on about Fig 4.0 - anything available for d/l? November Coming Fire are ace. Send More Paramedics do the old school thing well. 3 Stages of Pain are brilliant, but have been quiet of late. British bands always sound more "vicious" than their Yank counterparts... That said, I love my yankee metalcore, along with a good deal of the Trustkill/Ferret roster (but I HATE fata. Rubbish.) Deathwish records is a bit more in your field, from what I have - check out the band Sex Positions for some ace stuff in that noisy vein. Some Girls get a fair bit of good press, but can't say I can listen to too much of it.....
  19. May I recommend the "Light of the Morning" EP. Black-hardcore-metal.

Well, at least we've managed to conduct a debate on these boards without plummeting to name slinging TOO often. We should be proud.....
  21. Ian also plys in the awesome Stampin Ground, and is responsible for Blackfish records, who (at least used to) rock.

Apologies. I'm not gonna edit my post, mind. In my opinion, the black and white of it is: I am able to accept that religion has some positive values on a personal and societal level - the basis of the religion is based on love and acceptance, and by and large, those that I know practicing within the faith have nothing but acceptance, kindness and tolerance towards those of differing faiths, colours and creeds - not something that I feel clashes with the hardcore ethos. Yes, I agree that the Christian establishment is responsible for MANY ills, but I believe that is caused more by people in an organisational manner, rather than the essential beliefs. Religion - OK on small scale. Organised religion: Licks balls. Your statements excluding christians (with a small "c") from a genre of music that (In my opinion) is about community and acceptance (like Jim says), clashes with my belief of Hardcore as a power for good, removing barriers and buliding bridges in an equal world. Naive and idealist, perhaps (and judging by your previous posts, in this and other threads, you too are an idealist) but there are too many elitist assholes policing the "scene", and your post simply felt like another one of those. Apologies for the manner in which it was said, but hey..... Anh Highroller - the loss of morals and ethos in the hardcore scene, is not something to encourage....
  23. Got the new Converge - utterly, utterly great. A genuine "album", rather than a collection of tracks, its got a massive range of mood and style throughout. The production is edgy and spacious, not a perfectly pro-tooled bland-a-thon, and it all sounds ACE! Not sure how it stands up to Jane Doe yet, as I've only listened through twice, but its certainly an advance for the band. Ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace ace . Indeed.
