From a man who rates the TERRIBLE Sack Trick, whilst complaining about the moronic state of music, I have no need to defend myself. Finch are ace in their pop-Deftones stylings, although it seems they're stepping away from that and into heavier territory....
I came in on "Vanity", which I dig for it's VoD-ness, but I also have "Until the Ink...", which I find kinda directionless and pointless, so I'll probably dig the new, more melodic shee-zit. Goddamn, the cover is awfull....
...is fucking AWFUL! And I LIKE Eighteen Visions. How they managed to take a classic tune, do very little to it, yet suck every ounce of soul from it, and make it seem like it goes on for half an hour, I don't know.... The new album better be good....
Utterly terrifying. Completely brilliant. Bits of it are like Converge, some techy stuff a la Dillinger, the occasional dip into industrial, all wrapped up in crushing METAL! Oooh....
New 'Prophets album is pretty good, certainly better than the new Hundred Reasons album. However, both are trumped by the brutality of Scarlet's new record "Cult Classic".......
Not a brilliant CD. The Christiansen song was interesting, but didn't blow me away. Amen were the best new track on it, followed by The Icarus Line. More impressive is the recent Metal Hammer CD - new Killswitch Engage is genuinely ace, despite them sucking live - liked the cuts from Scarlet and God Forbid were no bad either. ....
Wasn't calling you a prick mr Stuart, just the guy in the hoodie who I heard slagging off the Aberdeen crowd, who then shoved me back when I tried to scream along to Norma Jean. Errr, Young Blood Straight Edge? Fuck off....
D-Rail were pish. Beecher without the songs. Beecher were ACE! Loved it all, and thought hey'd be the band of the night, but... Norma Jean were awesome. Utterly, utterly fantastic. Tight as hell and twice as heavy. A drummer who looked like a fisherman, raging new vocalist, brilliant minamalist lighting (very efective) - coulda done with a bit more chat mind, and security were dicks - If I can't touch the monitors or the stage, PUT A FOOKIN' BARRIER UP! Pricks....
The Paperchase. Utterly, utterly AWESOME. Like the bastard sons of the Crocketts, Bright Eyes, Jesus Lizard, McLusky, Fugazi, Icarus Line, Blood Brothers and Jon Spencer, but even better! Goddamn, its ace.....Country-discordo-punkoid-freakout. Oooh.
That's the worst idea in the world. Almost EVER. That would put the entire evening into the hands of the first five or six people to chuck in a coupla quid, and those people would inevitably be idiots. Ross, Jim et all play a selection of stuff, and always try to play requests, AND we won't have to hear the latest "hit single" sixty times a night. Think people, THINK!
