  1. I am going to be a bitty bias here cause i think the new album is great, but if everybody who is slating their new material had seen them at the music hall, i think your opinions would change on the matter. On the last tour i was pretty worried about them as the lack of movement from them was awful. However, the recent gig has restored any doubts i ever had about them live, as they are putting in alot more energy these days and playing the tightest shows of their lives!! The new material sounded alot heavier live, and really suprised me as the songs came acorss so strong and you would've porbably realised why they released the album. Has anyone heard the b-side to the new single. It is really really good!! It's very upbeat and pop but it's fantastic. It's being played more than the actual single on radio, and why it never made the album i'll never know. j.turgenev - i would be really interested in buying those singles from you. Give me a pm with prices... and if you know of anyone with old/new live footage please get me in contact with them as i have been searching for videos of them live but it's tough! all hail idlewild! the greatest thing to come out of scotland since mel gibson!
  2. was afa good!! Sons and daughters were rubbish!
  3. Can't fooking wait until tonight!!! only a few more hours. Don't know if this gig will come close to being as good as the acoustic gig in forres, but we shall see.
  4. all i can say is, Fuck the libertines! I am sorry, but why does Pete Doherty get crowned as a musical genious?? Ahh brilliant, i've finally found out how to break into the music industry!! Play 3 jaggy chords, sing awfully, take plenty of drugs, cancel gig after gig, become a rentboy for models and get chucked out of my band? It just pisses me off how this guy gets a chance to make something of himself and there are people in GOOD bands that might not ever get signed and he throws it all away for drugs! I seriously hope he doesn't die soon as he'll be hailed a rock legend which i really can't deal with!
  5. Right Hand Left + Myopia + The X-Certs + Turning 13 The Tunnels, Aberdeen Wed 6th April 2005 8pm doors open. 2 entry. This shall be a very good night and it only costs 2!! If you don't know where the tunnels is, find out! Murray. x
  6. My young friend Jordan has bought a seating ticket for idlewild as that is all they had, but he'd really like to change to standing. Does anyone have a standing ticket you'd like to swap with him?
  7. El capitan is a great song. Possibly the next single?? listening to the album just now, it's really very good, and a song that has just caught my attention is "too long awake", a bit starnge how it cuts out mid solo, but still belting. "not just sometimes but always" is beautiful! The violins really work well. The pictures of the band members are also very good. Looks vintage!
  8. haha lads from weeping jesus, i said that metallica thing as a joke, please don't take offence. As for your comebacks, it would appear you have nothing to comeback with. No you are right i don't listen to heavy music, BUT i have heard alot of it in my time of hanging out with guys who do like it, and you guys don't even compare to bands like those ones. Haha, i don't understand what you are trying to do? I don't think it takes a genius to figure out you are TRYING to play heavy music. Or are you trying to take over the world and i'm just missing the whole point of your singer not having words and your band not being tight? If you guys aren't teenagers why the hell are you throwing a tantrum over someone's opinion you don't even "value"?
  9. When i saw them on the accoustic tour, all the songs off of the new album sounded alot more powerful, infact all of the songs they played that night sounded alot more powerful with the violin and piano to back it up. Sorry boys and girls, i'm really impressed by the new album. It's a massive change from the past albums including the remote part! It is basically a scottish folk record, it took me a while to get into it but i think it's fantastic! However "i want a warning" should have been left for the shit pile along with "as if i hadn't slept", poor poor songs. I do agree that they need their old flare back and comeback with a rock record, so i am with you on that. did you know they wrote 2 albums worth of stuff but thought they were re-writing the remote part. WOuld've liked to have heard that stuff. P.s They sounded very good on radio 1.
  10. ah jim, you know what it's like. There mothers tell them to clean their rooms, they stick on a metallica record and say "NO WAY". It's all in the music!
  11. Haha oh here it comes, the classic thing to say from a band who wants some feedback. Someone tells them what they thought, and they are branded a dickhead. very original!! Right so you had to change everything?? Why was that? You only had 10 minutes to play, so you had to change some of your songs? Why didn't you just play 3 songs you knew and that you knew you were tight at? No need to go and change everything! Haha, yes i have been in your position many times before,i've even turned up to venues that have taken us hours to get to, only to be told i wasn't old enough to play! however you just get on with it. If you play for 30 minutes, rock it! If you play for 10 minutes, rock it as much as you can in that space. Don't just moan and make excuses. I know if i went to see a band, and they only got to play for 10 minutes but played very well and impressed me, time wouldn't matter, cause they were still a good band, which you guys aren't...YET! Tell me, how does time change the way you play and sound? Fair enough you might think oh shit only a few more minutes left lets rush through this, but how would that affect what the band as a whole play? I am not having a dig like you so kindly did to me as i don't know you, i am just telling you what i thought as an individual! I am also asking you these questions, as what you have said, is a load of shit and as a passionate member of your band, you should think about what i've asked and use it to learn from your mistakes and maybe next time you play for 10 minutes you won't think aw shit that's totally unfair but get on with it and put on a good show. However that may take some time, as you need practice! Don't just write a couple of tunes and then think "yeah we can play a show". Practice them over and over and over until you get really tight, then play a show and impress! Not a dig, just an observation. Murray.
  12. To be honest, the headlining band, was it weeping jesus? Were awful! The singer didn't appear to have words and it looked like he was making them up on the spot. I don't think he could have said "fuck yeah" anymore times. The sound was pretty bad, they had no stand out tunes, and overall, were awful! p.s. If you are going to do blastbeats, make sure they are time.
  13. yourcodenameis:milo are awesome. New single "rapt dept" is a fantastic tune. Saw them live not too long ago, and they really did bring the rukkus!
  14. I think he has written some good tunes in his time, however i wouldn't class myself as a fan. I think he is very self absorbed and should try writing about somethingelse rather than him. I also feel he is promoting folk music in the wrong way. Alot of young people will buy bright eyes and think wow, who does conor like himself? Oh Bob dylan, right so he must be the meaning of folk. Fair enough Bob Dylan is amazing, but these people should start looking at other types of folk music if they say they are folk fans.
  15. Hey, i know everyone is asking for them, but is anyone selling tickets for this gig tonight. 2 tickets would be rather good, let me know asap. Murray.
  16. Hey, i know everyone is asking for them, but is anyone selling tickets for this gig tonight. 2 tickets would be rather good, let me know asap. Murray.
  17. Us by the trail of the dead's new album "worlds apart" is outstanding. I urge you to go out and by this record. I can't stop listening to it. I had heard mixed reviews about it before i bought it, but i am very very glad i did now.
  18. Bob doesn't seem to be doing much these days. It would appear that he just follows Biffy Clyro around Scotland for a few days and then drinks his life away.
  19. I saw them at the loft in Forres on friday (accoustic), and they were absolutely fantastic! I've seen idlewild, about 5 times now, and every show they have put on has been excellent. Fair enough they used to be alot more energetic, and these days they don't move as much but still sound scrappy, but i think them sounding scrappy is all part of their charm! I've heard 4 new tracks off of the new album, and there is a definite folk influence on the new songs, and i think they are fantastic!! Idlewild still rule all!
  20. Got my ticket for forres, should be amazing. I don't think i've heard the new single enough to make a comment. But what i've heard i like. Roddy Woomble said the new songs will take more time to get into than previous songs, so i think it could be an interesting one.
  21. yeah they are really cool, they have jaggy bits like coheed and cambria, instrumental bits like mogwai, and just really some cool ideas! Come to this gig as it will rock big time.
  22. I was going to go to this but it was costing me too much, just a young lad you know. I'm sure it was awesome! Yeah they are a scrappy live band and have stopped moving about as much, but that's what i love about idlewild, they just don't care, 5 scruffy scotsmen doing their thing! ripple boy - did they play any new tracks? i know it's hard remembering new songs when you've only heard them live but what did you think?
  23. Are these lads still playing? cause on this website it says they have been refused entry into Britain. That was posted up today.
  24. Peeps, listen up, they are a must see band, get your dancing shoes on because they are funky to the max! If you haven't heard them, think of q and not u without the punk edges, a cleaner sound and a very british sounding singer and you've got the departure. I know there are alot of gigs on in october, some awesome gigs actually, but if you have no interest in biffy, hifh, sugarcult... and want something to dance to go to the departure! you'll love them. Murray.
  25. Sorry peeps, it looks like it'll be accoustic as it says they are playing accoustic sets at aberdeen and glasgow. However it also says they are playing on thursday the 10th of august which is totally wrong, so maybe they might be wrong about full rock or accoustic. It's good either way to be honest, we'll still see them and hear them in the flesh.
