  1. I'm well up for going to the BDO. Line up not posted on the website yet though. You got an email address / phone number over there?
  2. http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=87365#post87365 Er, conflicting posts?
  3. hands down the best Air Guitar for both music and atmosphere. Well done boys, first rounds on me tonight!
  4. Why have AOl and yahoo but not MSN? It's the only one I use and certainly know of others that are in the same boat?
  5. Here it is folks... the first installement of winners from Wednesday nights 'up sh!t creek' boat race: Week 1, 19th Nov: - Ian Rose - James Brown (no, really!) - Ruth Delaney - Paul(scoconutass) Thaine Week 2, 26th Nov: - Dave(y boy) Donnachie - Scott Fraser (apparently a non-drinker) - Paul Thaine (again) - Ruth Delaney (again) Week 3, 3rd Dec: - Dave Donnachie (again) - Campbell - Steve Armstrong (Paranoid) - Greig Watt As you can see, some folk enjoyed the free beer so much they came back for seconds. Although I'm not too keen on it becoming a one-sided event so get your drinking shoes on and show these geezers who's who in the Aberdeen social scene.

    Question

Re: huh??? A new law was tried and tested in the Australian Capital Territory recently along these lines, much like new york(?) where bars banned smoking because of the serious health risks. it caused up to 80% loss of business in the first month. So, unfortunate as it may be, I don't see any bar, club or restaurant actually benefiting from such a move. As a smoker, I'd certainly go out less if I couldn't smoke in bars. Especially in an Aberdonian winter! i can certainly agree with a level of respect demanded from bartenders who either don't smoke or are gagging for one yet having their faces clouded in a haze.
  7. Sorry. It's not unicyle jousting. It's EVEN BETTER!
  8. Sorry. No jackets left here by that description.
  9. Even better! Bring your friends. Bring your enemies. This is your chance to annihilate both!
  10. Oh my god. I've just arranged next week's equiptment. This one's gonna be interesting. I may need a disclaimer for injury caused.
  11. Well folks, the inevitable has happened. The good fellows down at HJB have decided to run the Ultimate Pub Quiz. And every Sunday night, no less. The night will be comprised of 5 rounds, and teams can consist of any number of combatants. The 5 rounds in question will be: General Knowledge / Current Affairs Sport Film / TV Music and a 5th round varying each week between History / Geography Art / Literature Science / Nature Mr Morrison, whom we all know and love from Bondage will be Judge and Jury. There will be extra points for creative team names etc. The first quiz will be Sunday, December 7th, and the first prize will be a George Foreman grill. Let's see just how smart you people are then!
  12. In the words of the great... Hate to say I told you so! I called that particular episode before the guy even made it to the stage in the first place. Bless him, for he made me laugh.
  13. yes, FREE ENTRY, more games, more silliness and more places on the Grail Leaderboard to be earned....
  14. I am privy to ceratin inside information and can promise more of the same and, well, just plain MORE! Expect more games, more interaction, different equiptment (although I'm certain the bronco will make another appearance sooner or later), more decor and more worryingly varied tunes from Mixmaster Morrison. I'm thinking of prizes for those who make a genuine effort to contribute to the theme of the night, costumes etc. A weekly Holy Grail event must be won, be it for a team or individual event and a Leaderboard will appear in the coming weeks. Oh, and free entry again next week.
  15. The ultimate pub quiz night at HJB every Sunday. 5 Rounds of intellectual mayhem + Bonus rounds. Extra points for creativity/best team name etc. all at the discretion of Quizmaster Morrison. Watch this space for further details
  16. Caged goes on as usual, however if you're an old attendee not having been a while, mr James Johnson is now the purveyor of aural delights rather than the DJ formerly known as sXe Jim
  17. Ps. should be able to show you for myself in January, all things going to plan. But in the meantime, Goo is certainly your best bet. Get an Illusion cocktail for about $10, you get to keep the shaker. Nice one Rodders!
  18. Furthermore, how many times do you see any real trouble in either of our venues? Having worked in too many to count over the years, I can safely say without bias that I have never seen a venue with less trouble, be it violence or illegal activity than HJB or Moshulu. We hire bouncers who can help us keep that image, not destroy it. I think our bouncers set a fine example to the rest and most certainly stand by them on this one...
  19. hey Phil! If you're in Melbourne, Thursday nights at the Metro (city center) are called 'Goo' and very much like Bond-age, albeit a little heavier. I think you'll find that most bars around that area tend to play more alternative music than sunny aberdeen. St Kilda had a couple of decent ones when I left (although 5 years ago) and plenty of prositutes in dark alleyways in case you don't score inside.
  20. Big up to the boys of Black Atom who played a blinder to open proceedings in our first major live performance at moshulu on Monday. So impressed, oh so impressed. Double Jack rocked too.
  21. oh, sooo close to being HJB.
  22. Aye, all that practice is finally paying off for the wee man. Bat Out Of Hell was great!
  23. Tickets for Obedience School (Sunday 26th October) are now available in One-up, Moshulu and Henry J Beans. 5 a ticket (s.t.b.f) Doors open at 9pm. All the fun of last time, stage shows, stalls, BDSM equipment and much much more.
  24. Becks and I have lined up a great local DJ playing much more suitable music for the guests of Aberdeen. The thinking behind the music at the last one was that that is exactly the kind of music played at similar events across the country, certainly the big ones in London that I've been to. However, having gotten around the opening night, we're now in a position to fine tune the night to suit our crowd better. This does not mean you should expect to hear Metallica or Weezer or any of the normal bands you can expect to hear on a Moshulu club night. The fact is that Obedience School is an event rather than your average club night...just ask anyone who was at the last one! But yes, expect a very different style this time.
