  1. Have you seen the SadApostrophe account on twitter? It's the old Waterstones apostrophe's twitter account. Poor wee apostrophe. Apparently not needed in this brave, new, digital world. What a load of nonsense.
  2. My weekend should be pretty ace as well. I'm seeing my girlfriend for the first time in more than a month tomorrow morning when her flight gets into Glasgow. We're meeting friends of ours in the evening at Stereo for a post-holidays catch-up. Sunday should just be a long-lie followed by a mooch around the West End. Then I'm back down on Thursday to go see M83 with her.
  3. I saw the Star Wars movies when they were re-released as part of their 25th (?) Anniversary celebration thingy. I thought it was brilliant. Which cinema had the proper old school stage framing and the red curtains would swoop back before a showing? I remember seeing one of the Muppet movies there and I think Mars Attacks! as well.
  4. New album by The Twilight Sad is rather great. Only on my first listen but really enjoying it.
  5. Out of the Aberdeen shops I'd go to Draconian or Richard's if I wanted a small piece done. I agree with everyone who says the wait is worth it. Come to think of it, I need to start saving as I want to get my right arm or my back piece done this year.
  6. Yes. I have fond memories of that bus station at 3am on a Sunday morning after a night at Moshulu. BACK IN THE DAY, EH?
  7. Remember 'What Everyone Wants' next to the Shiprow car park?
  8. I'm sure I've probably spoken to Kirsten on the phone a few times without realising it. I wanted to leave that there without any kind of context, but it's because we both work at Waterstones (NOW WITH NO APOSTROPHE).
  9. East Coast USA is nice. I loved NYC when I was there although it was a little intimidating by myself. I looked at Boston and Washington DC as well but decided to spend more time out in Oregon/Washington instead. When I go back to the US I'll definitely spend more time on the East Coast. I got around by train. You meet some characters, including the people who work on the train.
  10. I remember Presents. Christ that was a bit of a dump. There used to be a Waterstones where the Peckhams that is now shut used to be. The one across the road that is now Waterstones was a Dillons and the one I work in was an Ottakers. I remember that before Gap moving in there used to be a Tesco Metro there...but what was there before that?
  11. For the most part I find New Year to be a bit if a disappointment considering how hyped up it gets. I've had one brilliant New Years and it was almost six/seven years ago. That said, if my girlfriend wasn't in America I'd probably be down in Glasgow having a grand old time.
  12. I've missed it these past few years due to going out and probably trying too hard to have a good time on hogmanay. I'll let you know if it's any good tomorrow.
  13. Nah, I'll stay up and see in the New Year, but I'll be fast asleep by 1am.
  14. Very quietly. I'm staying in this year. Probably just sit in my pyjamas with a cup of tea and watch the telly.
  15. This is a charming little album and everyone should listen to it because it's lovely.
  16. I watched 'Drive' last Thursday. It was pretty damned good. I don't think there was a bad performance. Ryan Gosling was brilliant as The Kid. The scene in the lift did not end the way I expected to. The sound track was great and the film just looked beautiful. I also did not expect Christina Hendrick's character (Blanche?) to have half her head blown off. That's two films I've watched this year where female characters get an unexpected shotgun to the face, her and Ellen Page as Boltie in 'Super'.
  17. Urgh. Reading how/what I wrote seven years ago makes me want to build a time machine and slap my 2004 self in the face for over-use of ellipses and going off on tangents. Also for being a twat when I was 19.
  18. Psht. I mean, I got to dodder around a little bit for the last 30/45 minutes of my work today but it was the busiest it's been this year from around 10.30am til 5.30pm. I was at the till non-stop from 2pm til my break at 5pm. It doesn't look like you're doing much but standing in one spot for three hours really cramps the fuck out of your legs. In at 9.30am tomorrow as well. That's my pet hate for today. Having to get up at early-ass-o' clock on Christmas Eve. Still, 6pm tomorrow and the food and booze-athon can begin!
  19. Friday: Working 10-6.30 Saturday: Working 10-6 then Christmas Eve dinner with my folks and my papa. Sunday: CHRISTMAS DAY. ALL OF THE MOTHERFUCKING FOOD. PRESENTS. Monday: Day of doing sod all. My brother and his girlfriend are coming over for dinner and boardgames so that'll be nice. I'm off over New Years but I don't have much on. Might go to Stonehaven.
  20. Power surges on Union Street crashing the tills at my work three times. They take anywhere up to 10 minutes to boot back up so that wasn't fun. Then the staff toilets were off limits as the ancient fucking plumbing system decided it'd had enough. Hopefully sorted by tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath. I've also decided to do some overtime which, depending on how it goes, may be a future pet-hate. Working an extra day on Friday and a couple extra hours on Christmas Eve. I'll be happy when I see the money in January...
  21. My Festive Season presents from my girlfriend. Some awesome books including a poetry anthology, the Le Tigre tour DVD and the promise of all the american candy from the States. Also going to see M83 with her next month. Wooooo.
  22. Hahaha, no. Also she's not going to get deported which is just marvellous.
  23. This weekend! Megabus later on down to Glasgow to see my girlfriend for Christmahannukwanzaakahsolstice before she heads back to the States on Tuesday. What's also pretty ace-ic is that she won't get deported trying to get back in so fucking HOORAY for that.
  24. Low - Especially Me Wild Flag - Racehorse (a live video, since there's no proper video for it yet but it's a fucking GREAT song) M83 - Midnight City Nils Frahm - More and urgh too many. I mean, there was a time where I listened to 'Born This Way' and 'Edge of Glory' by Lady Gaga nearly continuously for a couple days. I don't know if I can pick favourite songs from each of my favourite albums. But anyway, these are the ones that instantly spring to mind. I've had 'Countdown' stuck in my head for a week.
  25. I have to have the requisite amount of characters but I believe that wee smiley sums up my feelings about the news of TWO Janelle Monae albums next year.
