  1. Heard these guys on 6 Music this afternoon. Really liking the album. 'Future soul' music. http://hiatuskaiyote.bandcamp.com/
  2. Gutted I missed this. Got into town and realised I hadn't recovered as much as I thought I had from illness. Glad it went well though.
  3. Yes she is, and yes I would. She kind of looks a little like Clea Duvall.
  4. Herp derp I forgot Tegan and Sara.
  5. Carrie Brownstein is my number one rock music crush and pretty much just my number one general crush. Annie Clark/St. Vincent Kathleen Hannah Sheena from Lemuria Agreeing with those that have said Marnie Stern, younger Patti Smith and PJ Harvey.
  6. Okay yeah all those other albums are good, but my favourite so far this year is the Perfume Genius album 'Put Your Back N 2 It'. It made me cry. It's just so pretty and sad.
  7. Listened to Killer Mike and El-P last night. The Killer Mike album is my favourite of the two, but only by a nose.
  8. Listened to the John Talabot album you were banging on about a few pages back. IT'S LOVELY.
  9. New Japandroids is silly good. Also really, really enjoying the new Death Grips album. Listened to the stream of the new Liars and it's also good. Music is exciting and good.
  10. I read the Independent at the weekends. During the week I'll get i since it's only 20p and I read half of it on the bus into work and the other half on my break. Either that or I'll skim through the Guardian that gets bought by someone at my work if they're not reading it.
  11. 'Calcio' by John Foot is the main book on the history of Italian football that we sell. There's also 'Forza Italia: The Fall and Rise of Italian Football' by Paddy Agnew. Those would probably be good starting points. Also if you haven't read 'Morbo: The Story of Spanish Football' by Phil Ball then you should because it's brilliant.
  12. If there are still tickets for this come 20th March then I'll be there (at the Blue Lamp or Woodend Barn). Caught him last night in Glasgow and he was great! They ended with 'You Held the World in Your Arms' and a Michael Marra cover.
  13. Nope, I said I really enjoyed it and I feel an 8/10 is a score equal to "really enjoying" a film. So there
  14. My girlfriend got me the film Eulogy as part of my Valentine's Day present (which consisted of movies and popcorn) since it's her favourite film and I've never heard of it. It's so fucking good you guys. Black comedy, with emphasis on the comedy. It's about a dysfunctional family who all arrive at their parents/grandparents house after the head of the family dies to arrange/attend his funeral. It's got Hank Azaria, Ray Romano, Famke Jansen and Zooey Deschanel in it as well as a small part played by Rip Torn. I'm probably not doing it justice, you should just go and look it up on imdb or add it to your lovefilm list or something. 8/10
  15. What course is your creative writing piece for? I'm really looking forward to this weekend. Tonight: Meet my girlfriend at the bus station, quick pint before heading home. Saturday: Lie in, lazy breakfast, go see The Muppets in the afternoon, order chinese food and watch movies. Sunday: Lie in, do nothing but lounge around and watch telly, cook dinner. I've had masses of plans the past few weekends/weeks so to have a weekend where we're not really doing anything (besides each other, WAYHAY) is pretty great.
  16. This is really good. Really, really good. The Failure's Union album. So good.
  17. Here's mine: http://www.last.fm/user/lesleydickson
  18. I was having a think about the internet thing last night. I remember when my family got our first computer. I was in primary 6 or 7 at the time and it came with Encarta 95 which had just come out. I fucking loved Encarta. Then when I was in 2nd or 3rd year at Portlethen we got the good old 56k modem and I was introduced to the delights of the AOL chatrooms and hour long single song downloads. So people who genuinely can't remember a time before the internet just make me feel old. I don't think I should have to feel as old as that at 26.
  19. I saw that photo! I'm pleased even just half my face was in it! I booked today off when the tour was announced so that there was no super early train catching going on. Worth it.
  20. They were fucking brilliant live. What a great show. That was well and truly ace-ic. Their cover of 'Ask the Angels' was just fucking great. I'm still buzzing.
  21. I think the fact that I have a totally healthy heroine-worship deal going on with Carrie Brownstein might have some effect on my excitement levels. Also the fact that Mary Timony is in the band. Basically it's my ideal super-group.
  22. When is this? Have I missed it? I'm in Glasgow for the next week and I'd love to meet him again!
  23. Hrm. Some of these are obvious choices, but my favourite Sleater-Kinney album keeps changing. One week I'll listen to 'Dig Me Out' and be all "Oh, this is waaaay better than 'The Hot Rock'," but then I'll listen to 'The Hot Rock' and think the same but vice versa. So, just assume that the below includes all of the Sleater-Kinney albums but I'm only going to include a photo for the one that is, in my mind, the most consistently ace.
