  1. Despite the fact that it's a despicable law in the first place since it implies that homosexuality is something you can convert children to/is a choice and linking homosexuality to pedophilia, the actual wording of the law is pretty vague and so open to interpretation that it makes doing anything related to gay rights in Russia almost impossible, including LGBT pride parades/festivals. So yeah, fuck that noise.
  2. The Warpaint album is really nice. Only halfway through but really liking it.
  3. Yeah, sorry about that guys.* *I'm not sorry.
  4. Buying fruit, in this case clementines, that look great in the shop and promptly rots overnight when you get it home. Plus there's something about the smell of foosty fruit that pure gives me the boak.
  5. But Union Street's still cracked and broken.
  6. That puts a smile on my face! A new Joanna Newsom album would be most welcome as well.
  7. http://www.nme.com/news/sleater-kinney/74752 If this happens it will blow everything else in 2014 out of the water for me. Yes, it's not an album as such but if they recorded stuff together then fuck what you'd call it, it will be my number one of 2014!
  8. Yay! I love their album. I'm so tempted to head down to Glasgow next month to see them play with Speedy Ortiz. I'm listening to the new Mogwai album for a review I'm writing, but I think I would listen to it anyway because it's a bajillion zillion times better than their last three albums, and maybe better than Happy Music for Happy People. Mogwai are properly back, guys!
  9. Ralph Ellison's 'Invisible Man' because the way Ellison writes is incendiary, as was the topic at the time. It's something of a bildungsroman during the civil rights movement in the US - it's personal and universal and so important. Definitely the best thing I read when I was at Uni and one of the best thing's I've read full stop. As for me, I just finished Donna Tartt's 'The Goldfinch' which was just a little heartbreaking/wrenching at the end. Fantastic book though. Another 'story of a young man's journey' but with loads of Dickensian plot-twists and brilliant flawed characters you feel odd rooting for at points.
  10. I did indeed and enjoyed it immensely! Not quite as much as the Charlie XCX album but that wins out purely for 'Set Me Free'.
  11. Alright. Decent enough job although it's a bit tedious and I could do with earning a bit more. Nice enough house, lovely girlfriend, great cat. Money is the only thing I worry about really. I like where I'm living and what we're getting for what we pay in rent is way more than we'd get anywhere else, just the council tax is a bit high and gas/electric companies are cunts. Oh, and after being broken into back in November (long story, we were asleep upstairs at the front of the house and some arsehole broke a window in the utility room at the back of the house and made off with wallets and over a grands worth of camera equipment - we slept through the whole thing) I'm finally sleeping through the night again most nights so that's improved my mood.
  12. The only part of the closing ceremony I was excited about http://youtu.be/PArTdhNda7k
  13. I'm on a Beyonce kick this week. Loved this when I first saw it and it's still great.
  14. Jon Hopkins and Deafhaven are another two I really enoyed. I'm also annoyed I missed off Thundercat's 'Apocalypse'.
  15. I've not listened to the Sky Ferreira album all the way through yet but liked the first few tracks. I'll give it a proper listen on the way home this evening.
  16. Damnit, I was going to post the TV on the Radio performance. I remember watching it a couple times and bought the album based on it.I'll have to think of a couple since the only one that immediately springs to mind is Sleater-Kinney performing 'Jumpers' on Letterman. Oh wait, can't believe I forgot this.
  17. Sad to say I haven't given it a proper listen. 'Strange Mercy' is properly brilliant though.
  18. It's confirmed. February 24th or 25th
  19. @herculesmoments on Twitter and you can always harass them on Facebook. I've put her in my 'honorable mentions' though.
