Oh fine then. No more book chat. The guy who played Karl was ace. I have a horrible feeling he isn't going to last long, based on the promo for next week, but hopefully he gets at least one more good monologue in. Either that or he runs off and just full on joins one of the Wildling groups.

I am really, really enjoying it. My Mondays consist of getting home first, watching Mad Men and then watching Game of Thrones with my girlfriend. Mondays are the best after 5pm. The first episode was a slow-burner, but the last two have been fantastic. Especially the development of Sally and Don's relationship. In fact, the second episode of the season is probably in my Top 5 Mad Men episodes. I'm gutted they're splitting the season in two though.

It was rape. There was nothing consensual about what the viewers saw. I'm with Paranoid on that. Anyone who watched that and thought it was remotely consensual can go burn in a fire. I'm sure Melisandre could help you out. As to my book chat - there were no spoilers! I was just pointing out differences, especially since the last episode was the most 'off book' episode yet. I'm really glad they're doing it because it makes it much more exciting and less predictable. Slutbags - that was a poorly constructed sentence. I meant Margaery's race for the throne. Highgarden/The Tyrell's will still be looking to consolidate their alliance with the Lannisters which Tywin is obviously all for.

That bit at the end was a big surprise, even for book readers. That character is only hinted at by Martin, and even then in the surrounding 'lore'. On another note, and without spoiling it, I wish they'd stop adding sexual assault in just for the the shock and awe value (if it ain't in the books for any purpose then including it in the show is just gratuitous - HBO can throw in all the full-frontal consensual sex they want, there's tonnes of it in the books, but rape is generally mentioned as something perpetrated and rarely 'happens' in the there and then in the books) and hope the remaining episodes manage without it now. But enough book chat, that was a decent episode even if it did try to cram a bit much in. I'm interested to see how some of the changes they've made pan out over the next few episodes, in particular Sansa and Petry and Margaery's race for the throne. The Queen of Thorns is still the best character, but I'm hoping for some more Tywin next week too. Arya and The Hound will be back and all! Best partnership on the show.

Okay smartarse, exception that proves the rule

I was pretty surprised by my attitudes too. But then, ten years and a research degree where I read a lot of gender and sexuality based critical theory will make me a bit wiser that I was when I was 18 and just out to the world. I'm mostly upset by my (fairly obvious) attempt to distance myself from the more 'overt' and/or 'camp' gay type. Like Old Gold says, it's embarrassingly placating. As to the 'fad' aspect, what a load of horseshit. Sure, artists and musicians can jump on the bandwagon and be 'allies' (an awful word that leads to a lot of groaning when said in the presence of lgbt people due to the over-use and misapplication of the word) for gay rights and in general it's not a terrible thing at all. I'm not sure if the initial poster maybe didn't get the distinction between that and someone like Katy Perry's use of female sexuality for self-promotional purposes. In any event, what they said didn't make a lot of sense and seemed to confuse sexual orientation and gender presentation at points. Plus, who says sexuality has to be a hard and fast thing? I identify as a lesbian because I don't experience sexual or romantic attraction to men, but there are people who might think 'sure, lesbian' but then come to realise that their sexuality is more fluid than that. I think I'm going off on a tangent here, but in short, sexual orientation isn't a 'lifestyle choice' which is what describing it as a 'fad' essentially boils down to. If you think it is then you're a fucking moron. Also, the amount of times I read the sentence "I'm not a homophobe, I've got gay mates, BUT..." made me see red. No sentence that starts that way is going to end in anything other than you making a remark that is, drumroll please, homophobic.

So, I finished the Couch to 5k last year and was really enjoying running around Newtonhill/Muchalls and then I started doing interval training at the gym and just fucking hated it. I stopped and haven't really been out running since, despite a few half-hearted attempts to get back into the C25k thing. However, I'm going to make next week the one where I go out and do the first three runs and hopefully that means I'll get back into the habit proper. I'm determined. I really want to run a marathon next year so I need to start training soon and maybe do a few races between here and there. I'm not fussed about times or stats, I just miss the enjoyment of it. Living where I do in Tillydrone I can run along the Don at the moment but wonder if anyone in the city has any recommended routes that I can start from where I am so when I actually get onto longer distances I'm not stuck running on/next to roads.

Re-reading most of that just made me very sad. I'm annoyed about most of my posts as well.

By the time I got through the whole album I still liked it, but it's a bit....eh in places. It's nice, but it didn't really do anything to stand out. I'm not making any sense now.
