  2. No, I saw something sometime and it was shit. Hardly anyone there. In fact, it was probably you that put it on, Jim. Lucky you posted here first so you can avoid making the same mistake again. Phew! Drakes is saved.
  3. We're not dead, you fucking knobs. We're probably playing next month, you fucking morons.
  4. I remember Johnny Violent's appearances on Noisy Mothers, and also on said Earache samplers. North Korea Goes, North Korea Goes, North Korea Goes BANG!!! Yep, brings back mid-nineties memories...
  5. I was down on the Saturday, and apart from the stifling heat and cramped seating in the balcony, plus ridiculously under-stocked and over-priced bar, it was pretty swell. The gospel backing was great- things like that can often come accross weak live, but they pulled it off, and the sound overall was fantastic, too. Also, how many people (apart from me) thought it was terribly amusing to repeatedly shout "Stagger Lee!" in a German accent, in an obscure reference to one of the audio loops in the menu screen one of Nick Cave's live DVDs?
  6. your thoughts on the following, if you can be bothered. 1. who's the best ABERDEEN-BASED band you've seen or heard on cd which formed WITHIN the past year? Bill Ely and The Catnips. 2. which performance at a fudge gig (in either drakes or moshulu, or for that matter the last couple of fudgenights at the lemon tree) really stands out for you? which band really pulled it off that night? If I have to think this hard, then none I suppose... 3. which two bands are inferior? Maple, Red Man Walking, Masamune, Turning 13? Inferior to what? Or are you just asking which are the two worst or 'least good' bands out of these four? Not interested in any of them, so they're all six or half a dozen. 4. which ABERDEEN BASED acts really play METAL best, other than the Atom and Risactonia? I sort of enjoyed Vomitus. 5. who's best out of this lot? bonesaw, hearsecrash, element 106, vomitus, spike pile driver See above. 6. are the needles "from aberdeen" any more, do you think? or are they "glasgow based"? Fuck off you morons. My brother and his friends can live wherever the fuck they like. 7. which two bands are altogether better than the others? politik, masamune, kitchen cynics, bench, strobing goat Never seen the Kitchen Cynics so I'll have to say them, twice. 8. which band do you like better, succioperro, cayto, the needles, mercury tilt switch, or allergo? hmm? The Needles. I can't imagine being entertained by any of those other bands, whoever they are. And I really doubt that they're "art". 9. almost done. best venue - the moorings or drummonds? I like them both, but as Rob notes there are fewer neds in the Moorings, and I've had more free beer from there.
  7. Fuck's sake, there's always one. Come to think of it, are you sure you aren't getting The Needles mixed up with King Liar and the Brutes?
  8. Do they do any junk-scat or finger-fump? I love all that.
  9. The mid-sixties Americo-German uber-beat band The Monks: I would travel as far as southern Spain to see them (which I can), and back in time if I could (but I can't). Fortunately they're re-grouping and playing a show forward in time at the Wild Weekend in Benidorm. When I first heard this I thought for a second that there was no way I could travel to Spain for this. Then I realised that that was bullshit, so I'm going.
  10. Sure is. Would have worked better with the Delorean and the BTTF logo, but all the full versions of the image were too small... everyone can surely recognise the beautiful man-boy that is Marty McFly when they see him, though?
  11. Sorry, I'm a bit late to this thread, but it is almost certainly the best I have ever seen. This won't compare to the works of magic that have gone before it, but I have to add my ha'penny's worth...
  12. Fear not, Swingin' Ryan, Elvisness 2004 is real, it's ready, and what's more it's riotous. In fact, not 5 minutes ago did I finally complete the jacket I have been making for it. Yep, you read that right- King Liar & The Brutes are a genuine force in this nexus of vagrancy. What I mean is this: we are playing at it, 5 songs in total. Will we treat Mr. Presley with respect and reverence? Just you wait and see... Predictably, King Voodoo are headlining, doing their usual nonsense. Also playing are Atrium, who are basically King Voodoo but without Roddy, playing some kind of metal-oriented noise. Also Kirsty Moodie (of being the mother of Mark Nicol's children fame) is doing some stuff, and the Lemon Tree Songwriters Project (whatever that is). And yes, Dave Dixon is compering- he hopes to resurrect last year's wheel (which itself was formerly the legendary Wheel of Justice), except this time with an actual purpose. We'll see. He'll probably play a few songs as well. I think Michelle and Jim from Retro Rebels will be DJin as per last couple of years, except without me ('cause I'll be otherwise engaged...)
