  1. Then you know heaps about PL/SQL and Oracle stored procedures then? Because I don't and I've been trying to get my head round it at work recently! I'll have to talk to you about it one day...
  2. All, Tonight this web site will be unavailable at various intervals. This is so various software components on the server can be upgraded and installed. If you cannot access the web site then don't panic. Just wait 5 minutes or so and try again - the web server is probably being rebooted. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
  3. Nope, I have not. Be careful with the file size - Windows will often be somewhat inaccurate when reporting a file size. Although it says it is 9.8k in size - it could well be over 10k. Try reducing it a little more or changing file format.

    Nostalgia

Are you seriously trying to suggest that aberdeen-music.com is now the be all and end all of the Aberdeen music scene? I don't think so. If this web site disappeared tomorrow the local music scene would still be there just as before. Yes, this web site has its flaws and its fair share of nonsense but I like to think it at least tries to being together the musicians, bands, promoters and venues that make up the music scene all to one place, online. I know for a fact than many people have benefited from this web site. And as long as at least a few people are getting something out of this web site then I will keep it going for as long as I can. The old "aberdeen-music.com stops people going to local gigs" argument is complete bullshit. If people aren't going to gigs it is because they have something better to do. It's the job of musicians, bands, prompters and venues and the like to change that. So why not start?

Sorry, missed this post until Nik tipped me off about it. Your request has now been completed.
  6. As previously stated these forums are running vBulletin 3.0.3 with hacks here and there. The style for the web site was purchased and is not freely available - it has also been quite heavily customised since.
  7. Bit late, but what hell. Happy birthday!
  8. Upgraded the module just now. You should now be able to upload GIF images to the gallery again. Give it a try.
  9. JPG and PNG should work fine. The reason .GIF doesn't work is due to a limitation of one of the PHP modules currently used for resizing images. GIF support should be working again once I get round to upgrading PHP on the web server. Until then, JPG is your best bet.
  10. It's one of many phishing scams. Here is some more info on it: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/scams/phishing/ebay.asp
  11. I'll probably do this at the end of every month as long as I remember. Some interesting statistics for you all: Statistics for September, 2004 Total Hits: 4,490,859 Bandwidth Used: 62.7 GB New Registrations: 170 New Threads: 922 New Posts: 13,378
  12. As I've told Jamesey and as I will tell Dan, if you use somebody else's account to post when you have been banned then that account risks becoming banned as well.
  13. Sticking this so I remember to do something about it.

    Rss feed

Okay, I'm not too sure what you guys are exactly looking for but vBulletin v3 already has an RSS feed facility. This can be accessed using the URL: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/external.php By default, it will just list the latest threads posted in all the forums. However, you can change the URL so that it only lists the latest threads from specific forum(s). To do this simply add the forum ID to the end of the URL (you can get the ID of each forum from looking at the forum's URL). e.g. If I wanted to simply get an RSS feed of the latest Wasteland and All Music Discussion threads only then my URL would be: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/external.php?forumids=20,38 And for us Firefox people I have now added a link to the default RSS feed to the source code of the site so that you should now be able to see the RSS button in the bottom left of Firefox while visiting the web site (in Firefox PR1.0 anyway). This will allow you to create a dynamic bookmark to the web site in Firefox. That good enough for you?
  15. What resolution is your screen in?
  16. I have now finally decided on who I would like to fill the 3 empty staff positions on aberdeen-music.com. After receiving a huge 26 applications (thanks to you all for applying!) the lucky three are Ross, onlynik and Frosty Jack. I hope you can all welcome them with open arms to their new positions on the web site. Unlike before, all three staff will have full moderation powers over all forums, calendars and the new chat rooms. One of the three staff will also be made responsible for updating the public calendar but this lucky individual has yet to be decided. And, if you haven't noticed already, the chat rooms have once again returned (see the link on the main navigation bar above). So far, it looks like these are proving to be more popular than the last Java based chat rooms as these should, in theory, be easier to use and connect to. They are Flash based and so should work with most if not all web browsers and through any firewalls that allow web access. So far no regular meetings have been scheduled and added to the calendar so if anyone has any ideas for a regular meeting to take place then please post an announcement in Gigs & Events Announcements forum (http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6) and we will get it added to the public calendar for you.
  17. Well spotted. Fixed.
  18. Actually, I did take a look at that module (it was through the vBAdvanced site I discovered FlashChat in the first place!) but decided not to use it. I figured that people with lower resolutions would appreciate the full sized FlashChat window rather than placing it within an iFrame - but that is just my opinion. I created my own vBAdvanced custom module to list how many people are in each chat room so there is at least some visibility of the chat rooms on the home page.
  19. Where did you see this being used Heather?
