  1. Yay - in vBulletin 3. Be patient my friend.
  2. Yeah, I can't see it being Esko if it is meant to have a capacity of 800 and live bands playing as well (which would suggest a stage needs to go somewhere). Found the original article in the P&J online here: http://www.thisisnorthscotland.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=62692&command=displayContent&sourceNode=62244&contentPK=8831490
  3. Glasgow Garage - to be build in Aberdeen... Not sure if any of you saw today's P&J but it appears that CPL (the people behind the Glasgow Cathouse, Garage among other clubs and venues) intend to open a new club and live music venue in Aberdeen in time for Freshers week this year. The club/venue will be modelled on the look of the Glasgow Garage but it's location in Aberdeen has yet to be revealed. They reckon it will create 30 new jobs so I assume it is going to be a pretty big and active place. Once again another live music venue and club hits Aberdeen. Should be interesting to see how the current live music venues and clubs deal with this new entrant...
  4. Closing this thread as there is a newer thread already discussing the same topic.
  5. As you have all no doubt noticed the organisation of the forums has been changed somewhat significantly in the last couple of hours. The reason I made these changes is to address some of the excellent feedback I've received from our forum members as well as put the web site in "better shape" for future expansion and development. In order to minimise confusion here is a list of all the new and updated forums along with their intended purpose: NEW: All Music Discussion This forum should be used for any music related discussion and debate on a local level or otherwise. This is a brand new forum and attempts to catch the occasional, decent music related discussion that would sometimes find itself in The Wasteland. As with all other forums the content of this forum will be closely monitored and any off-topic posts will be deleted/closed/moved elsewhere. UPDATED: Feedback Forum This forum was originally called the Reviews & Recommendations forum but has now been renamed and updated to reflect a slightly different purpose. This forum should now be used to post constructive feedback on any gigs, records or events you have seen/heard. The emphasis in on local bands and local record releases but it is not the rule. UPDATED: Other Clubs & Venues This was originally called the Clubs & Venues forum and is now the forum for topics regarding any club or venue in the Aberdeen area that does not already have a dedicated forum on aberdeen-music.com. All other forums remain as before and none have been removed but as you will see a number of them have been moved to what should be more sensible categories. Three new local bands have also decided to host their official forums on Aberdeen-music.com. So please take a moment to check them out! These bands are Gilman Street, My Minds Weapon and Orwell. Reminder on Gig Announcements Despite previous guidance people are still insisting on posting gig announcements within The Wasteland forum. This is not what this forum is for. The Wasteland forum exists solely for any off-topic discussion. If you wish to announce a gig then please use the Gig & Event Announcements forum and if you wish to give people the opportunity to discuss your gig then feel free to post a similar announcement in your own forum (if you have one) OR the venue's forum. If you wish to discuss a gig that you have been to then please use the Feedback Forum. Thank you for your co-operation. As always if any of you have any feedback to give regarding the changes or any other element of this web site then please post them in the Comments & Suggestions forum or alternatively contact me privately via e-mail or private message. Thanks!
  6. I have now attempted to address some of these comments with the new Feedback Forum. Let me know what you think folks.
  7. Not sure what the problem is here folks. Firstly, the member list is in alphabetical order. Secondly if you click on the Search link at the top of the page then you are taken to the search page that has lots of options, including the ability to search for photos belonging to a particular member. And finally, if you view the gallery for a specific member then the photos with the most recent comments posted about them are listed first. The main page also gives you a link to the most recent comment.

Yeah, the Glasgow Academy is rather cool I have to say. As for APC then they were way better on Friday night than when we saw them at the Garage. The band were tighter, there was a better overall "vibe" and because they have lots of material to play now then the set they played was just awesome. As for Melissa Auf Der Maur then I was rather disappointed with their performance and I think lots of other people were as well. By far the best song they have is the song the played last (the one you can hear on their web site). There were many cheers when they announced they were about to play there last song as well as a bit of heckling during their set- so I don't think they went down that well to be honest. But they I guess they are just still starting out.

Wirelessly posted (SPV E100: Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; Smartphone; 176x220)) The gig was fantastic! Really impressed with banter between the band and the crowd too. If it was Tool playing you are lucky if Maynard says anything.
  10. Two items already sold tonight with a third looking very likely. If you want any of the stuff that is left then get in touch soon!
  11. Once we move to vBulletin 3.0 I'd like to think I'll eventually get round to adding multiple skins. One day...
  12. Afraid, not. I'm selling everything separately as above. Everyone please contact me privately if you want to genuinely buy any of this kit - via e-mail or PM. I will not accept someone's forum post as an offer. I'll update my first post if anything gets sold.
  13. Urgh, I have no idea I'm afraid. If I had to make an educated guess I would say they are both probably running at 5400RPM.
  14. No, I'm afraid there is no alternative skins to select at this time. All HTML code is forbidden in posts for security reasons.
  15. Well, after many years Ive decided to sell all my old computer equipment in order to fund another computer build. I have all the following for sale (most expensive items at the top): Hercules ATI All In Wonder 8500DV AGP Graphics Card - 75 (was 200 new) In fully working order and boxed with original manuals, CDs and the relevant video adapters, cables, remote control etc. Getting on a little bit now but still a great card for any kind of video capture work (has a built in TV tuner and can capture from pretty much any video source TV, camcorder, VCR etc) and isnt too bad at playing games either. Link for lots more product info here: http://europe.hercules.com/showpage.php?p=39&b=0&f=1 One word of warning though. Although it does have a working DVI output there is a fault in all ATI All In Wonder 8500DV cards that may result in noise or interference being displayed on screen if you hook this up to an LCD monitor. The output to TV screen or regular CRT monitor is flawless however. Asus A7V Motherboard + AMD Athlon 1GHz CPU + Heatsink + Fan + 512MB PC133 RAM (all assembled) - 50 This has been yanked out of the Coolermaster case on sale below. It is all assembled and has been working perfectly for many years. It is a bit dusty but still works fine although the chip fans make a fair bit of racket (they may need replaced soon). Comes in the motherboards original box with manuals and CDs. The relevant cables and screws are also included. Coolermaster Beige Midi Tower Case + 350W PSU + 1.44MB Floppy Drive (all assembled) - 30 Easy to access (you can unscrew it by hand), unmodified Coolermaster case that use to easily accommodate an ATX motherboard, a CD-RW drive, a DVD-ROM drive and two hard discs. The PSU has been replaced within in the last year and so is relatively new although the case is getting on a bit. Still looks okay though. Matrox 40GB IDE Hard Disc - 25 NOW SOLD! A perfectly working hard disc that will be newly formatted before being sold. Samsung 30GB IDE Hard Disc - 20 NOW SOLD! Another perfectly working hard disc that will be newly formatted before being sold. Hitachi Internal DVD-ROM Drive 15 NOW SOLD! Hardware region-free internal DVD-ROM drive. Not the fastest but plays back DVDs and CD-ROMs just fine. Matrox Millenium II AGP Graphic Card - 15 Very old school and hasnt been used for some time but it should still be working. No box, manuals or even drivers (although they can still be downloaded from Matroxs web site but drivers for this card come built in with most Windows installations now anyway). This card only has about 8MB of RAM on it (if I recall correctly) so it isnt going to be any use from playing todays games but it would be ideal for a computer you intend to use as a server or just for general day to day 2D work. More product info here: http://www.matrox.com/mga/products/mill_2/home.cfm 2 x Generic 10/100Mbps PCI Network Cards - 5 each (or 10 for both) Both cards should work fine but no box, manuals or drivers Im afraid. But it is a generic make so it should not have difficulties working with modern Windows installations by just by plugging it in. The chipsets are clearly marked so you should be able to hunt down the drivers for them if you really need to. Generic 56K PCI Speakerphone Modem - FREE NOW SOLD! This is one of these evil soft modems that the drivers are near impossible to find for. Anyone is welcome to this one. No box, manual or drivers and I have no idea if it still works. Diamond Monster 3D II PCI Graphic Accelerator Card - FREE NOW SOLD! No box, no manuals, no drivers. This is free to anyone who wants to attempt to use it! I dont know if it works anymore and I have no idea why you would want to use it in this day an age. It was originally paired with the Matrox Millenium (see above) to allow it to play the more 3D intensive games way back in 1998! Diamond multimedia have since been bought over by another company so good luck trying to get drivers for this card. I think it would be near impossible. All the above is available on a first come, first served basis. I will accept cash payment or payment by PayPal only. I will not post any of these items and so there is no additional postage cost to pay if you want to buy them but you must be prepared to pick them up from my place of residence which is in the city centre on King Street. There is no official guarantees on any of the kit above but if I have said it is working and it doesnt work then Ill happily refund anyone. Assuming you didnt break it! If this stuff doesnt get sold by the end of this month then Ill probably auction off what is left on eBay (the free stuff will get binned). So if you want any of it then get in touch quick via e-mail or PM.
  16. Okay, I'm going to make this a sticky topic to remind myself to consider this in detail.
  17. Shoutcast is exactly what we used when we were previously doing the radio station.
  18. Firstly, please post things like this in the correct forum (i.e. the Comments & Suggestions forum). Secondly, I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but I will be looking at this particular request again once vBulletin v3.0 goes live.

Kinda glad it has changed venue as well as I'm guessing the Carling Academy is smaller than the SECC and therefore the gig might be a bit more intimate. Anyone have any experiences of the Carling Academy?

Yeah, I'm planning on going to the Cathouse afterwards as well.
  21. Hope everyone is having a great start to 2004! Just a few minor updates to the web site that I think I should make you all aware of. Firstly, I've decided to slightly change the criteria of what events are added to our calendar from the posts made to the Gigs + Other Event Announcements forum. I have decided that as far as gigs or festivals are concerned then a local band/musician/act does not have to be part of the event in order for it to be added to the calendar. So, in short, as long as the event is taking place in the Aberdeen area and is music related then I'll add it to the calendar if people see it fit to announce it there. For more information on the how this forum works then check out the recently updated sticky post. Secondly, we are still looking for more sponsors for the web site and more donations! We have come close to covering our annual expenses but we are not quite there yet. And the increasingly popularity of the web site as well as all the cool things I want to add to it is only going to increase the cost! If you are interested in becoming a sponsor then please read the updated sticky post. Thanks for your continued support! And finally, it may appear that updates to the web site have become less frequent but let me assure you some big, big changes are in the pipeline. vBulletin v3.0 is nearly ready for final release and when it does get released I will take the opportunity to bring in yet another new "look and feel" to the web site, replace the portal home page with something a little more useful and of course, upgrade the forums. Some of you may openly wet yourselves when you see the new web site. And even more of you will moan about the changes because everything will be different. Well, tough - its called evolution.
  22. Having just been to HJBs I can confirm that Space Raiders are indeed now available! Power to the people.
  23. Pretty cool yeah, nothing like Will Haven though. Way lighter. Kinda like electronica crossed with rock. Clever stuff. Can't really think of any other bands that sounds like them - they are little like Gravity Kills and Stabbing Westward in places.
