  1. ...check out Ghostride which has formed from the ashes of the aforementioned bands. They rule. They have a limited edition EP out now for a measly $7. With the dollar so weak against the pound right now that EP costs just under 4! I don't make recommendations often so please seriously check these guys out. You'll like.
  2. Ben, I was referring to the first post you made on this page: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5471&perpage=15&pagenumber=4 There isn't much point having rules that encourage people not to be offensive to one another when would-be forum moderators are going around calling people "fuckstick" is there? I realise the comments made were regarding your girlfriend but that still does not justify your response in my book. However, Stephen does make a very good point. There is one big exception to this rule and that is the Deadloss Superstar forum. The reason this is an exception is that the Fudge guys were moderating their own FudgeNet forum long before the Deadloss Superstar forum was created. When that forum was created it didn't seem to make much sense for Craig not to moderate it as well. But then I already knew at that point that I could trust Craig to moderate the forum fine. I can't say the same for the other bands members with forums on this web site.

    a perfect circle

I just purchased my train ticket online and I got an open return for 31.95 and that includes a discount for having a Young Person's railcard. Although I have no idea how much of a discount. It is usually 22 for an Apex Return but I didn't get offered that which suggests I didn't book early enough.

Nope, not yet. But I got an e-mail from Wayahead awhile ago and that said there was a delay in sending the tickets out or something. I don't think it is anything to worry about - yet.
  5. I've actually had a look at this thread for this first time and I'm afraid to say Ben the response you make in that thread hardly makes you come across as very mature or rational person. This does not fill me with confidence that you would make a good forum moderator. I'd also like to remind people that the bands that have forums here can request to have their forum moderator changed at any time. The only restriction is that they have to pick from the current team of moderators. So if they are having trouble contacting the moderator of their forum then I recommend they contact one of the other moderators and ask if they would like to moderate their forum instead. So far, I don't think a convincing case has been put forward for bands to moderate their own forums.
  6. It would be cool if I was the same size as a Hobbit though. They had great little suits in LOTR! But thanks for the tailor suggestions everyone. I'll check them out.
  7. Yes, they do have grerat stuff. But they turned me away. Yes, turned me away because they couldn't get anything to fit.
  8. That would be most excellent if you could! And TV Tanned, we all know I just spend the PayPal donations on my cider habit.
  9. Unfortunately, due to my diminutive size (no jokes, please!) then simply buying a suit in Next or Slaters or wherever is not an option. Hence, why I need to see a tailor. But yeah, an Armani suit would be cool.
  10. As I need a new suit for work then I think I might use the Fudge Awards as a good excuse to part with lots of money and buy a lovely new suit. Anyone know any good tailors in Aberdeen?
  11. It was a cool feature. I'll see if I can find a hack to implement this on these forums.
  12. Okay, let me explain what my rationale is for not letting bands moderate their own forums. The forums for the local bands make up part of aberdeen-music.com and therefore I want to see them maintained and moderated in exactly the same way as all the other forums on the web site. The reason I've never allowed band members to moderate their own forums is because I believe they would abuse this right. What I can see happening if band members moderated their own forums is that they would delete posts, close topics right, left and centre if the contained any negative criticism of their band and/or band members. Maybe I'm just being cynical but I want to see balanced discussion on all the forums on this web site and so, for example, I want people to be comfortable with posting a negative review of a local band in that band's forum without fear of reprisal or censorship by the forum's moderator. Another reason I'm not comfortable with bands moderating their own forums is that I don't believe all the band forum moderators would moderate their forums consistently with the rest of the web site and in accordance with the rules. I could see us getting into the situation where you can quite happily post abuse in one band forum but then get a similar post deleted from another band forum. But I'm more than prepared to accept I'm wrong about this so please feel free to continue posting your thoughts on this topic and maybe you can persuade me to think otherwise.
  13. Yeah, Zillah were awesome! Their drummer was insane. Overall I have to say last night was one of the best Dr. Drakes gigs I have been to for some time. Good work Dave!
  14. This is just asking for trouble. Never gonna happen. *quickly goes off and registers www.aberdeen-music-porn.com*
  15. Interesting stuff: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/12.01/guitar.html
  16. I seem to recall it was. Only vaguely though.
  17. hmm...your theads and posts would not be deleted without reason. It could be that your web browser is caching pages on the web site but a simple refresh of the page would sort that. Are you still having this problem?
  18. Firstly, another new feature of the web site has now officially been launched and that is WAP access to the forums and your private messages. Yup, you can now view, post both threads and private messages on the move if your mobile phone has WAP access. The all important URL you should use to access the WAP version of the forums is: http://wap.aberdeen-music.com There was quite a lot of teething problems with this part of the web site during testing and many of you had problems accessing it when you were trying it out. But these problems should now all be resolved and hopefully you will find the WAP version of the web site very useful when out and about. If you do encounter any further problems though then please post them in the Technical Problems forum. And so with the year nearly out I'd just like to say once again many thanks for all the support the web site has received this year and especially over the last few months. It has been a dramatic year for the site but it has recovered from being on the brink of extinction to sitting comfortably on our own dedicated web server with lots of space and bandwidth to spare. And thanks to the huge success of the Bandwidth Benefit Festival and our new official sponsors the web site's future is looking very secure indeed. So many thanks once again and may I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous and happy New Year!
  19. I'm not aware of any of your posts being deleted. In what threads were the posts deleted?
  20. This has been asked before and yeah, it will probably come back and yes, live shows would certainly be done again. There are other new sections for the web site though that do take priority over this though so it may be some way off before this happens. Not sure if the IRC channel will return though. It was heavily underused by people.
  21. All good suggestions. I'll see what I can do...
  22. Kinda like the menu box that the old home page used to have?
  23. Yep, I agree as well. I could add a hack to vBulletin to make it all possible but I'm not going to go to the effort of doing this as the upcoming vBulletin v3.0 already addresses this issue. So all you have to do is hang on for a few months.
