  1. It's probably worth pointing out that HARRY has been close to the line quite a few times. This just tipped it over the edge as far as I'm concerned.
  2. Well as I'm not permitting new registrations until after the web site is moved, he is at least going to have to wait a while.
  3. www.aberdeen-music.com (duh) www.theregister.co.uk news.google.co.uk www.slashdot.com www.betanews.com www.disinfo.com
  4. And continue making remarks like that and you won't be a member on these forums for much longer.
  5. In the next day or two aberdeen-music.com will be closing to facilitate the move to another web hosting provider. Every year or so I review the web hosting costs this web site incurs and make sure I can't get a better deal elsewhere. As it happens I have found a better deal and so it's time to move again. The move should only take 24 - 48 hours to complete (the move doesn't actually take this long to complete - it just takes this long for DNS changes to propagate). Once the move has been completed no doubt a few of you will still be seeing the old site (which will still be closed) while some of you will be seeing the new and hopefully re-opened site. Don't worry about this. Depending on what ISP you use to access the Internet it can vary quite considerably how quickly you will be able to access the new site. Once the move is completed aberdeen-music.com will still be on a dedicated web server but now fully managed by the web hosting provider and not me as it is just now. This gives me more time to concentrate on the web site again rather than administrating the web server. And most importantly, the web hosting is significantly cheaper but performance and reliability should, if anything, improve even further once the move is done and dusted. Thanks for you patience everyone.
  6. I offer web hosting and domain name registration services. Someone has already given the link above (thanks Cat Food!) but the prices page specifically can be found here: http://www.existentia.co.uk/prices.php Unlike most other companies there arent any extras such as VAT to be added to the price etc. What you see is what you pay.
  7. Just sounds like a low budget version of Killswitch Engage to me. But hey, what do I know. Certainly on a local band level it's better than most things out there though. Great effort and look forward to seeing it performed live.
  8. I think purplefrodo was capturing the meeting minutes so hopefully he will post them up soon.
  9. And I would expect there to be further meetings held as well if you can't make the one on Sunday.
  10. Well, speaking from experience, if you want any meeting to happen soon then you must commit to a time a place quick and then stick to it. Not everyone is going to make the meeting whatever time and place you choose. As long as you make the meetings regular (every week or so for example) then that should at least give people enough warning to become involved at some stage. For that those that are like me that work regular office working hours (roughly 8.00am - 6.00pm) then even 7pm is pushing it. So maybe 8pm on a weekend may be more suitable for the majority however, that is only just a suggestion. I should still be able to make Friday as it happens. Whatever you choose - make sure it is explicit.
  11. Okay, I'll make this thread a sticky so people will hopefully take more notice. Ross, I assume you will be popping along to this as a Moshulu rep? I can happily provide web hosting (not design though) and provide advertising and promotion through aberdeen-music.com. I'll try and pop down on Friday so I can explain further and thrown in my two pennies.
  12. Yeah, vBulletin does support multiple skins (or styles as they call them) but due to the high level of customisation within this skin then there would be a lot of extra work for me to customise each and every alternative skin made available. This might change in the future though if I ever change the look and feel of the web site again.
  13. Exactly. It can be frustrating I know but it helps to make spamming more difficult and encourages people to post messages containing just a little more than one word.
  14. Panopticon by ISIS is my favourite album of the year. I suppose the new Jimmy Eat World album is close as well.
  15. Talked with Ross about doing something at Moshulu and getting aberdeen-music.com involved on an official level. Looks like something will be organised for around March but I'll leave Ross to make the announcements. In the mean time if any of you want to donate now. Then simply go to this web site: http://www.dec.org.uk/ In related news it looks like another aberdeen-music.com fundraising event will also be talking place possibly around May time. Keep a look out for announcements.
  16. That was true but the HD3 is Sony's first hard disc based MP3 player to natively support MP3 (and WMA I think) as well as their ATRAC file format. So you no longer have to first convert your MP3 files into ATRAC before copying them over to the player first. I think they are also going to offer an upgrade to users of their older models such as the HD1 and HD2 so they can also support MP3 in the same way.
  17. Likewise. It's ace! And the SonicStage 2.3 software isn't as half as shit as I was expecting it to be.
  18. Just a quick message to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year! Many, many thanks to all our sponsors, supporters and members who have helped support the web site over the last year. Without your support this web site simply could not exist. 2005 will see a big change on aberdeen-music.com and hopefully this change will further increase the popularity and usefulness of the web site. However, the aberdeen-music.com piggy bank is becoming worryingly low once again and so another fund raising event will also most likely take place next year. As always, I'm open to ideas as to what format this event could take place as well as any offers of assistance. Have a good one everyone.
  19. If people don't like the filmstrip thing then I'll happly switch if off. I just liked it so I kept it on. But then what do I know.
  20. The gallery (which has been shut for the last couple of days in case you hadn't noticed!) has now re-opened. The gallery has had a minor update applied which has introduced a few new features and bug-fixes. If anyone bumps into any problems then please let me know by posting a report in the Technical Problems forum. Due to the quickly decreasing disk space on the web server I have had to revise the gallery disk space limitations. Standard registered members are now limited to 2.5MB of gallery space while sponsors, supporters and staff are limited to 10MB of space.
  21. Very nice web site guys. Now, how about paying for your web hosting?
  22. Apologies to any of you that may have had difficulty accessing the web site yesterday evening or this morning. What should have been a straightforward upgrade of PHP ran into some problems and it has taken me until this morning to sort them out. However, the good news is that PHP has now been upgraded to v4.3.10 successfully. If you don't know what any of this means then don't worry.
