Soda Jerk
The funnest album of the year. Fun out of 10.
Soda Jerk
Lagwagon - Hang New Lagwagon. It's weird. Skate punk is dead, so this is just, like, ROCK. I don't know if I like it. I'm a big fan of most things Joey Cape has done since the last Lagwagon LP, but this sounds weird. I'll give it another spin or two. Maybe. Or I'll just listen to Trashed. Soda Jerk
Office of Future Plans - S/T J Robbins is the best. He has lots of bands that sound pretty similar to each other and it's hard to keep up. He should just mash all this Jawbox, Burning Airlines, Channels and now Office of Future Plans stuff together, and just call it J Robbins. I'd not heard this, even though it came out in 2011. It sounds a bit like Burning Airlines, but with some Cello. GREAT. Iron Maiden - Killers I've only heard the hits. I've never listened to a Maiden record from start to finish. So I listened to this one. It's totally punx.
Moon Moon
catfish and the bottlemen- The Balcony possibly the best album I've currently got on my phone haven't stopped listening to It. uniform- Runaways to be honest I'm quite disappointed in their new songs. I still listen to their older songs which they have also put on the album too.

TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Perfume Genius ~ Too Bright Easily one of the best albums of teh year and I dare say that there are plenty fans of it on the forum. What can you say about it really? Assured, glam, camp, vulnerable, honest... I could fire adjectives at this album all afternoon, but I won't do that as it would be stupid. The most immediate comparison that comes to mind is Antony and the Johnsons' album "I am a Bird Now", but that is only skin deep. 9/
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Songs: Ohia ~ Magnolia Electric Co.Holy mother of god, this album is amazing. FFO: country, misery, melancholy, Steve Albini recording shit, drunken regret, Scout Niblett, the best songs. 800/
Soda Jerk
Fugazi - End Hits Severely underrated. By me anyway. Normally I don't pick it and put it on if I want to listen to Fugazi. They never did a bad record, but this one doesn't seem to get as much as praise as some of the others. This song though. Damn, yo. http://youtu.be/a7qASdkPcVo
Soda Jerk
The Capitalist Kids - At A Loss Utterly joyous powerpop punk rock, similar to The Ergs! and Bracket, with a bit of Ovens in there too. Glorious vocal melodies, clever lyrics and triumphant hooks. Best pop-punk record I've heard in ages. It'll certainly be one of my records of the year. Ultra fun. TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Smashing Pumpkins - Monuments to an Elegy It's the album with Tommy Lee drumming on it, not that you would notice. First impressions on this is that the closest relative in the Corgan back catalogue would be Mary Star of the Sea. Not a bad thing at all. It's pretty short, all the songs are concise, one is over 4 minutes and that's your lot for epics. "Being Beige" is the immediate standout, super good hooks and nice drum fills. Not to sure about the euro-pop "Run2me" track! *****
Woodsinho
Alpha Male Tea Party - Droids The fuzzier, riffier, funner side of math rock. Lots of fun. Playing on Dundee on Thursday night with the also lots of fun Cleft. Let's go party. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SImQ4yvdFg EDIT - forgot to rate the album. Rating: GOOD. Soda Jerk
Brendon Small's Galaktikon Brendon Small's solo album. You may know Brendon Small via Metalocalpyse and the music of fictional Death Metal band Dethklok. This isn't too far away from Dethklok, though it's much more melodic and gets rid of the grunted death metal vocals. Still lots of death metal influence, but it's majorly triumphant. Chock full of harmonies and shreds. Loads of melody, but still pretty heavy. Bodacious. 3 outta
Soda Jerk
Today is the Day - Animal Mother NEW ALBUM. Steve Austin is the angriest man on earth, and that is apparent in this record, which is aggro as shit. Heavy. Nasty. Violent. GOOD. 5 outta 5. Teabags
Water Torture - PillboxInsanely bass heavy powerviolence. Fucking ace. And they're from Buffalo, so they're 100% better. 5/
Woodsinho
Baptists - Bloodmines Do you like Converge? Baptists like Converge. I like Converge. I like Baptists. 3.5 Kurt Ballous out of Converge.

Soda Jerk
Space Eater - Passing Through the Fire to Molech Terrible name. Awesome Thrash! Totally rips. 4 outta 5.
Soda Jerk
Hawks - Hawks Noisy 'southern rock', like Unsane meets Scissorfight. Sounds gruesome. GOOD.
Soda Jerk
I Shalt Become - Poison "Blackened Funeral Doom". I don't really know what that means. This sounds utterly terrifying. I've got the place to myself tonight, and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to sleep now.
Soda Jerk
Anaal Nathrakh - Desideratum New Anaal LP came out in October, which slipped under my radar. Typical Anaal. Barely any dynamics. It's just loud as shit from the off. Ridiculously heavy. Just pure nasty. They've generally gotten better with age, and each record tends to be better than the last, but I don't think this is quite as good as Vanitas. Still a good spin though. They've never done a bad record.
Woodsinho
Chumped - Teenage Retirement Great band name. Good emo pop punk songs that sound like Weezer, Knapsack and Saves the Day mushed up together.
Soda Jerk
Gore Tech - Machine Throne EP My knowledge of electronic music is absolutely minimal, but I was attracted to this after hearing Berlin-based 'breakcore' artist Gore Tech was involved in the new Anaal Nathrakh record. Gore Tech's abrasive drum n bass is incredibly influenced by all things heavy metal, and a lot of the breaks are guitar riffs and chugs, manipulated into punchy hooks. It's punishingly heavy, and also good.

Good emo pop punk songs that sound like Weezer, Knapsack and Saves the Day mushed up together. I didn't know they had a new record. The self titled one from last year is GOOD. I will listen to this now.
