Ashamed to be Aberdonian,If this lad was from Glasgow, the Whole of Glasgow would be behind him.

We are really small minded here,a lot of men here sitting behind their keyboards wishing they did better in life. All this Jealousy towards a Aberdonian kid living his dream and working with REALLY big producers and about to sign with Universal Records is disgusting.Whats that all about.

Maybe young Liam should stand with his hood up on a street corner every day.

Well done to him for aiming highr than working in some shop or pushing trolleys.

Also, do you really think people are in any way jealous of this kid?

Most people on this website are music fans to some varying degree. This song by Liam is not designed to appeal to music fans. It's designed to appeal to a mass audience to consume in great quantity, making several people very wealthy.

This young man has put himself out on the public domain to be judged. Therefore, people will judge him. And they have every right to.

Nice dream in life being a music fan

Just because I absolutely love music, it means I should have a dream involving becoming a famous pop star?

I'd like to add the detail that I listened to OMD the whole time I was at Eurodisney. That was my musical dream: to go to Eurodisney and listen to OMD. Best time ever.

Do people have to realise their dreams to criticize others?

That's the whole point about this, if you put yourself out there, whether it be a song on myspace, a picture on facebook, a video on youtube, you're going to get some criticism. If it's good, then good. I'm sure he gets a lot of that from people who like his music. From people who aren't in to commercialised pop, he's going to get some stick.

I hope he does great. I hope he releases a song and it does quite well. I hope he makes his record sales and gets on tv.

He just better nae lick guitars and fanny about with guitar straps in R&B. 'cause it made him look like a bit of a fanny. And I'm sure he's doing this to get fanny, not to look like one.

Some of the responses in this thread have been somewhat sub-Wildean, but hardly unexpected.

The fact is, no matter what the EE would like us to think, this is not a story about an Aberdeen lad making his way to the top on the back of his hard work and talent. He's a passable singer, no better or worse than hundreds of kids his age here or anywhere else. But his uncle runs a very successful production company in the US, and he is making use of the opportunity that has obviously been provided for him to 'live the dream' for a while. Who wouldn't. He really doesn't need defending on this site, it's a big bad old world out there, there will be plenty of far stronger criticism than anything here, and anyway I'm sure he's far too busy dancing with hordes of bikini teens to give a flying one what Ab-Mus thinks.

Good luck to him, it's obvious that anyone would have to be pretty stupid not to take full advantage of the chance he's been given, but really, the story might as well have been "Aberdeen lad finds winning lottery ticket, and is able to go and collect his prize"...

I was waiting for someone to wade in with the 'aberdeen people are so close-minded' catchprase. Makes me laugh every time. As if people in aberdeen are in any way different to the rest of the population.

There are probably already 3rd rate wannabe POP stars in Glasgow getting the same ripping. As Rebecca black proved, it doesn't take much to pay a production company to make a video nowadays. It's no longer a thing reserved for those who've 'made it'. This is a glorified version of someone singing in front of his.computer and posting it on YouTube not some home town hero gone big in the states.
