All your opinions are incorrect.

Danny Elfman, Phil, Danny. Elfman?!?!?! Are you actually mental?

Hans Zimmerman wrote the music to the truely abysmal Dr Who charity single 'Doctor in Distress' in '86.

I vote John Williams, I kick it old school. Elfman is shite, all his music sounds the same.

You're not thinking of the right person. I'm talking about Hans Zimmer who did:

Black Hawn Down

The Da Vinci Code

True Romance

The Lion King

King Arthur

Pirates of the Caribbean

Cool Runnings

Batman Begins/The Dark Knight

Gladiator

Madagascar

The Simpsons Movie

Muppet Treasure Island

etc etc

He was also briefly in the Buggles.

Out of all those the only one I can remember to whistle is True Romance, and apparently that was ripped off from Badlands anyway (haven't seen Badlands).

Did he do Driving Miss Daisy? 'Cause that was a good score.

PS An honourable mention for Mark Knopfler, specifically Local Hero, but he's also done some other good stuff like Last Exit to Brooklyn. :)

Elfman is shite.

Orff is indeed brilliant.

Oh, and I also extend my vote to include Explosions in the Sky (heh)

Yeah it wasn't ripped so much as a homage to Badlands, I have to say though that I do prefer Zimmers piece, It ticks along at a nicer pace, both however are amazing film scores.

It was a tip of the hat to Badlands as the plot of True Romance is much the same (Bad guy meets nice girl, takes her away from it all, ending in bloodshed/arrests etc) and it was really a homage, like flyingsinatra said.

Also, yes, he did Driving Miss Daisy. Great score, too.
