Alan Cynic
Ah' date=' music to my 80s ears...[url']http://www.vintagesynth.org/audio/vl1.ramBy the way Mr Cynic, are you using any of these classic beasts in your set tonight?Unfortunately no.....but I'm using a kazoo on a couple of songs to replace Philip who is unfortunately otherwise engaged, so I've been kazooing round the flat, much to the consternation of the woodlice. _____________________________________________________________________Kitchen Cynics..........woodlouse worrier (or slater shocker if you're local)............... David
today i learnt the chords to 'i will survive' so now my hunt for good (but very very cheap) keyboards commences (and trying to persuade my parent i need said keyboards)David
Alan Cynic
I'm going to have another bash at playing the PT-20 and the guitar at the same time on Monday at Drakes. This time I'll avoid using my feet, so the place should be safe enough!

Alan Cynic
I'll manage, if I drop one of the usual things I do, eg breathing!Annoyingly the PT-20 seems to go out of tune regularly, and I have to adjust it with a screwdriver every so often. Alan Cynic
A bit late with this.....I DID use the Casio at the Schwervon/Vermont gig, with marginally more success than the time before. I used Ghost's favourite bossa-nova rhythm, and played the chord buttons in between strums of the guitar. Then I took a casio-solo in the middle, playing the keys. Was it crap?........Yes!! Was it fun?......for me, yes, for the audience probably not.The Casio has gone back into retirement, and I'm keen to try out my new toy sometime..it's a bowed Psaltery (15 from the Attic shop). I still think we need to form a Casio Orchestra....No baby news yet, mere days to go though...PS: What's a psaltery? And where's the Attic shop? Alan Cynic
Cheers, Ghost. I'm looking forward to seeing you using some baby samples (recorded at c.3a.m. sometime soon ).The psaltery is a triangular shaped zither-like instrument, played with a bow. A friend of mine uses a US version called a Ukelin in his band (PG Six). The Attic is in the Adelphi...at the bottom end on the right-hand side. ghost
Ah, gotcha now. Yeah that place looks rather nice - very up my junk rummaging street... will have to check it out when the final pay check comes through...Baby samples? Hmm, maybe but they'd be warped beyond ALL recognition!
Alan Cynic
You could download them from 'Nappy-stir', although it would sound a bit messy.

Alan Cynic
I have persuaded the Casio PT-20 to take the stage again at the Fudge Christmas do. I tempted it by mentioning a cute little Ibanez delay pedal which is currently without a beau!!!

Alan Cynic
Tonight at Drummonds c 9pm....I'll attempt a casio PT-20 solo. (This time I'll use my hands, not my feet.....the keyboard still smells a bit doubtful after last time)
Alan Cynic
I will be Casio-ing merrily at the Fudge Christmas frenzy (Drakes Thursday 23rd Dec)It might sound ho-ho-horrible
Mouse
I put new batteries in my Vl-10. It's out by a semi-tone, but was worse before
Alan Cynic
That's interesting, cousin!, cos my PT-20 regularly goes out of tune.....at first I thought it was my bad tuning of the guitar, but I was surprised to find the keyboard 'drifting' off pitch, as I didn't realise digital things had this problem
Alan Cynic
The Fudge Xmas Bash saw the Casio behave itself fairly well, so I'm allowing it out in public again tonight, as part of the support for the wonderful Kathryn and Amy Sawers. Alan Cynic
I think it's going to be a regular thing....Claire Hamilton's on soon (tomorrow?).I enjoyed it....the first set wasn't bad, but I made a few mistakes on new songs in the second set (inc my version of Ivor Cutler's 'Beautiful Cosmos' on the Casio!!!). jimr
I used to have one' date=' and used it on early recordings, but gave it away yonks ago, dammit! I recently got a Casio PT-20 in a charity shop.....it's ok, but not the same.I DO have 2 stylophones, though, and might use one live sometime.[/quote']Was the Casio PT 20 the one in the window in one of the union street shops? If so then off to single mothers hell with you.Woah, this is old. Nevermind
