  1. Nice. Will investigate. Kind of gave up on Jockrock as it had become increasingly gash.
  2. Hmmm, not sure Chem's the best place for the sort of music you do. They're brilliant with indie/folk/twee but maybe Maybank studios in Glasgow is a much better fit for you. And Matt Harvey is one switched-on guy. Very reasonably priced too for the quality of the tunes we got done. That's my tuppence worth anyway.
  3. Used to live on the 10th Floor in Aulton Court and the view was braw. Pretty tidy floor too. Bus stop right outside the front door and an 11 straight into town. Walls were no thicker than a cardboard box though and the lift smelled a bit.
  4. Hopefully they'll stay absent. Forever. Had a read of the comments bit below the article and much of what's been said here has been mentioned there too. I don't particularly feel anything for the bands listed except BoC and a bit of Mogwai. I will acknowledge however that Franz have had an enormous impact so deserve inclusion on that basis. Biffy I loath, but I do acknowledge that lots of people seem to like them so their absence is a strange one. Agree with other posters about TFC - they're extremely formulaic now. Last decent album was Songs From Northern Britain in '97. The Scream are the same and haven't done anything good for practically a decade and..aren't really Scottish anymore - that said, they do shift the units. If I was Scottish and into anything other than Indie/Alternative/Twee, I'd feel quite alienated by this list. Distinct lack of metal. And I don't even like metal.
  5. STP are back together? and with the chap that was in Velver Revolver?
  6. You'll regret it. They do seem to have a tone all of their own. That said you could easy get 700-800 for it.
  7. Oh no, I don't disagree with you. Deep down I know inside it's wrong but there's just something there that just wakes up the love pump. Guilty pleasure if you like.
  8. Water level seemed a lot lower (like at least 50 feet) when I last saw it; maybe it was because I was smaller.
  9. I have to confess I fancy the pants off her. I don't know what it is - I don't have a huge amount of time for her music, and her chat isn't the greatest but...I find her quite, quite attractive. And now the bloody Lighthouse Family have popped into my head.
  10. Heard the same about the bottom being covered with crap. I'm sure a kid died in there a few years back.
  11. Great term. I'm also fond of using "Crimping off a length".
  12. a mate had (might still have actually) a G400; similar problems with the tuning. No amount of tweakage would solve it. Expensive piece of driftwood.
  13. Belle and Sebastian - bit of a sacred cow in certain circles down here. Sorry, I think Bell-end and Sebastian is more apt. Re Joy Division - I'm a huge fan but its got to be said that IC's voice could be pretty ropey at times. Then again, its not like I was expecting David Lee Roth. Actually, David Lee Roth fronting Joy Division. There's a thought.
  14. I should never view images like that when I still have an hour to go before lunch - I'm salivating now.
  15. Tenpole Tudor's back on the road?! He must be kicking on a bit now. I was watching Crystal Maze yesterday - preferred Richard O'B but old Tudor did cut a dash too. Had forgotten the contestants outfits - pretty tragic.
  16. Played with Elvis Suicide a while back in Paisley. Quite bonkers. In a good way though.
  17. Same here. Not even sure Hen still books the bands there - it's been that long since I last played. Noticed that the myspace hasn't been logged into for 6 months or so and the website they used to have is gone too. Nail. Head. Yet its hard as fuck to get booked unless you have a gimmick, have a personal connection with the venue owner or staff or already have an established reputation of some sort. Sometimes that's a little hard to discern when you're a distance away though. Ha ha, we'll agree to disagree on that one. After traipsing about the country in the last couple of years, there's a couple of places I just wouldn't play again - Dirty Martini's in K/nock springs to mind with its "earthing problem". Equally, there's a few promotors I wouldn't take a gig off either. I suppose my gigging maxim's gone from "a gig's a gig" to "gig lots, but gig well".
  18. Pierre's thoughts sound sensible to me - band not known outside the genre that played in Capitol 20 years ago is probably best seen in the Lemon Tree. Might come up for it if they're any good. Haven't heard of them before and all those links are on the banned list at my work. What sort of prog are we talking here?
