I'm a 40 odd year old guitarist. Sadly I have the talent of a 5 year old. But hey I like a laugh and would be up for getting something going. I like most types of music. BTW I was only joking about the talent thing, it's more of a semi talented 9 year old.

In an earlier thread I asked about changing from gauge 8 up to gauge 9 strings. I have be working away with 9s for a while now and feeling quite good about it. So much so that I feel Im now ready to really go macho and grow a beard. What should I go for, a full beard, or a goatee?

A jeckle and hyde does a good enough job and it's like 3 pedals in one box. you can pick them up quite cheap on ebay etc. What I've found over the years is that if you have a dist pedal and kick in a od for a lead, as long as the od pdeal is set a quite a low gain setting, and the vol set high, this gives a good boost for solos etc. If you do it the other way round, then it mushes out IMO. It's also important to get the amp set right. he same with the gain.. If the amp gain is set too high and you kick in a dist set on high gain....mush city. Mix and match you pedal and amp setting until you get the sound you want. As I said a J&H work great for me. I set the red channel at around 12oclock gain, and 11oclock vol and the tone to suit my tastes. then kick in the green at the same time for solos, normally set at 12 & 12 It blasts through no problem. Why? Also, 'hatred' is a pretty strong word to use. I can understand someone saying they hate to see people dying due to war and hunger etc. However just because a band plays music by someone else........!

Anyway, I bought a new E string (size 9) and will work away with this until I see if I should move the other 5 strings up to a full set of 9's...thanks for nothing. Buttttttttttttt!!!, should I use Dunlop ot Pick Boy plectrums. I'll not confuse you with grades or thickness etc. You choose. But not Yellow dunlops as I don't like the colour yellow. Or Red, but whatever you say I will trust your judgement.....oh and not Green ones either. merry christmas Uncle G
