  1. Carson Wells - Shouty post-hardcore/emo etc. Sounds a little bit like this: Carson Wells Contact any of us on Facebook (search Huw Gurden for me) or email autumnjams@hotmail.co.uk (that's me too). If the other guys want to lend their details they can, but I shan't broadcast them here. We have all our own backline (bass cab, 1 x guitar cab, drum kit) and can play at pretty short notice.
  2. Over having a gig down there? Why yes it appears I do.
  3. Did he give it the go ahead if a PA could be supplied? EDIT: emailed Hen to see what the scoop is.
  4. Aberdeen is in dire need of a <100 capacity venue. Cellar is spot on for 3-4 piece bands, but noise issues seem to mess everything up. Good for quieter stuff, but nothing vaguely loud. The best thing though is that it's free to hire. Neuk was pretty good. Roomy, but like the article says it's getting shut down. I was in the Tilted Wig the other day and that is an option, but it's quite awkward with a narrow walkway then quite a tall stage at the end that takes up quite a lot of room. Couple of other places that could be used, but for some reason aren't. Reckon downstairs in Drummonds could work out quite well or the middle floor in Korova.
  5. I heard they were putting on gigs again a while back and I think it went through (possibly Dweller and Ablach?), but haven't heard a peep since. Anybody know what the deal is? Also, any contact information for the place would be grand. Thanks in advance.
  6. Didn't realise you could vote for 2 bands. Voted for the Min to put then in the lead.
  7. This. This. Dananananaykroyd Circle Takes The Square maybe? KADDISH Pensioner Well Wisher sound aight too. Bunch of other prolly.
  8. The quote "far flung depths of the north-east" makes my balls shrivel up inside me and is pretty much the sole reason I prefer not to have a bio on a band page. I might quote some press or something, but writing your own makes me nauseus. I think being modest (as previously stated) about the band, the members and it's output can do as much, if not more good for you than the third-person, self-hyping garbage that a lot of bands come out with. Citation of influences has spoilt as many bands as it has gotten me into. So many times I've dug a band and then realised they've just totally ripped off one of their influences. That's my problem, but I don't see why you should spoonfeed a listener like they are some sort of technically inept moron. They are on your page so, by default, they should have a rough idea of what your about. - especially back when Myspace was real popular. Even if they don't know what you're about, why do they need to know? I don't understand this. Even if it is, by definition, ignorance. You said it in your first post, let the music do the talking. Obviously this presents a bit of a cyclical argument. Ultimately, I think the demise of Myspace and the move toward using the likes of Bandcamp and Soundcloud in connection with Facebook proves the point I am quite badly trying to make. Clean page - album art, and tunes - no shitty bio, no 'top mates', no sluts trying to get you to comment on their photos.
  9. The head version of that amp is called the GA5H.
  10. Was never a massive Kartta fan, but that is a bloody great tune.
  11. /buy this please. Open to all sorts of offers.
  12. Anybody ever had their amp head re-tolexed? Does anybody know anybody local that'd do it? Has anybody done it themselves and have some handy hints?
  13. Beeen a while since they've been around these parts. Where's the new album?! I thought it was coming sharpish after the last one?
  14. Holy fucking shit. Just got crushed by that first riff. I reckon I could get behind this band. Will reserve judgement till I see em live.
  15. absolute bargain for what is being sold.
  16. I didn't realise I actually posted that. Cool. I'll do some reading. Sequel is justso nice and simple, so simple it doesn't do half the stuff it should though. I'll go through the manual etc. Are there any VSTs that'll make my guitar sound synthy or some sort of midi converter for guitar? Also, the process of re-amping. How does it work?
  17. Autotune as a correction tool has been discussed and I wholeheartedly agree that if you aren't bound by any time constraints take it again until it's spot on. But I also don't have anything against people using it in copious amounts to make them sound like Beyonc. It saves the hassle of learning how to sing as much as the pocket pod saves the hassle of miking up a guitar cab and they achieve the desired effect. When it comes down to a live setting, you will suffer the concequences and people will discover that you really are a gish singer. Back on topic: REAPER is really really grey and confuses my brain. What's the moest user friendly jargonbusting DAW out there?
  18. Agree with this. Another benefit of using a computer DAW too is that if it is just one phrase out of a verse that is pap you can create a new track and drop yourself in for that phrase. Much much more fiddly on a multitracker, for those that are a bit more pernickity.
  19. There was autotune on my voice for the CW recordings. When I have access to one I probably would where it was needed. So you can use external VSTs with Reaper too?

    Drum mics

Wuite like the idea of a couple of audio technicas or SP B1s to geta grounding with. I assume what they lack in features they make up for in sound compared with your likes of Thomann's T bone, Superlux, Behringer and other budget gear? I've got a Shure I'm gonna use for the snare and I'm gonna just get some crappy kick mic for the meantime, just so I can get used to miking techniques and actually having some kick presence in the mix if I fuck up the overheads!
  21. As the title says! PM me with any interest.
  22. Bridge pickup with pretty hot out put designed for rock and metal. Not really the tone I'm going for any longer so getting rid. Dimebag signature pickup. 45 ono
