  1. Why on earth did you do that? You should've been reading Harry Potter!
  2. scaled-down representation of the 'wider issue'?
  3. Bizarre. What was the train of clicking that led to this?
  4. Everyone needs to realise their creative potential..
  5. I like it. I think the pipe-like sound used in the melody is a bit dull and the string / accordian (?) sound could be improved. I don't think the hi-hat sounds really fit, particularly the open. Bass is cool - subtle and groovy. Your voice sounds pretty good too, and reminds me of someone else..
  6. Yeah, my sister recommended Slovenia aswell!
  7. Nice, kinda hoping the old mother tongue might secure something!
  8. Thanks, I'm sure he'll crop up again so I'll bear that in mind.
  9. I'm actually really excited at the prospect of going to Poland; not sure why, though it probably has a little to do with the number of Polish I've worked with..Probably end up in Krakow at some point, though also hoping to visit a friend in Szczecin (which is conveniently close to Berlin.) Anyone ever gone fruit-picking?
  10. I'm pretty sure there used to be one on Thursday at Drummonds.
  11. Hahahahahaha. Didn't see 'im first time round! Really takes the biscuit.
  12. I'm planning on heading over in the next couple of weeks (cheap flight depending). The only clear idea I have is a few days in Berlin, otherwise, I've a month and an 'all-access' railcard to fulfill! Just wondering if anyone has any 'must-see' places to offer that differ to the guide books / general opinion. Main areas of focus (at this, most likely to change stage) would be Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Holland, Northern France. Cheers Ps, ever worked abroad NOT as part of a feeding sick elephants / behind a bar in Aus thing? I really want to work somewhere that could facilitate language learning, but I'm not sure how difficult it is to find relevant (hotel or something) opportunities without proper communication ability in the first place (assuming I'm not relying on the 'everyone speaks English anyway' attitude.
  13. Love the '....just a band' bit!
  14. Yeah, but it wasn't the most focused session, half-drunk on my flatmate's sofa. I've read bits and pieces of his stuff on language too.
  15. I find her transparent and intensely dislikeable. After browsing her myspace a while ago, I think she's the kind of figure middle-class, scenester, fashion-conscious, pop-culture-worshipping, public-school pill-poppers aspire to be; this will sell sell sell and sell again. She reminds me of a girl I know that once told me that the Klaxons would be at her mate's party.
  16. My God, Didgeridoos suck, paper-mache horn or not.
  17. Lots of the people in your photos look like assholes. Is that a camera trick?
  18. Recently read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. It's much better than the film, which I didn't like; admittedly, a view heavily tainted by the legions of moronic, petty drug-users pledging their allegiance to it from the depths of pissed stained second-hand sofas at five in the morning when I just want to get some sleep... Also read 'The Rum Diary' by HST, which is even better than Fear and Loathing!
  19. Reminds me of the time I tried reading 'Rogue States' by the very man...
  20. Have you looked in the book? Doesn't it say there? In terms of rhythm, you just have to play through a few chords that they give you. To practice this, just get yourself really adept at flicking through various types of chords required, then just start sight-reading equivalent-to-grade-five tunes. The main point is to never lose the beat of the piece you're playing; you're better to make mistakes and carry on than lose the song (but if you know your chords this shouldn't be a problem!) Improvising - pretty similar: know all the scales that fit over all the chords (in the exam you will be given a chord chart to play along with). For both sections the scales and chords are (I think) pretty much the ones you need to learn for the other sections of the exam anyway, so just perfect eveything.
  21. Why? And yes, I suppose.
