  1. I'm sorry, but that is shit! I've never heard DnB that I could enjoy just listening to. Granted haven't really invested much time in looking.
  2. Why do the judges take it seriously? 'What's the act?'
  3. In a way, it's actually snobbier to suggest that you don't discriminate against people speaking in broad accents and dialects. I wouldn't claim for a second I'm beyond making rash, unfair judgements on something purely on the basis of its surface. I personally don't see the point in lamenting the absence of dialect representation within airport greetings. The Scots language has rarely enjoyed much prominence in formal affairs, why start now - token, comedy gesture towards a few nationalists?
  4. Just managed to get through Henry James' Portrait of a Lady. Never thought I could feel so triumphant / exhausted after finishing a book!
  5. Fortunately very few have streamlined enough lives to consider these indulgences not worth partaking in. (see 11 million Corrie viewers.)
  6. Bloody cult following. I had a promo test-tubeful of it for 3 quid once. Wasn't worth it. The girl selling em tripped over someone's leg later on and spilled the lot. Cracking.
  7. I don't really understand you. All I know, is that I'm quite happy just sitting around listening to what I consider great music. It's hardly radical; the concept of art for its own sake is old.
  8. If you can't appreicate music simply for itself, then presumably you merely 'use' it, in the same way you'd use a bread maker, treadmill or gameboy; to pass the time, to fill a gap, to achieve a tangible 'end', to occupy your fidgety, impatient brain before something else happens.
  9. It doesn't go anywhere, but the sounds themselves carry. And the bass is huge!
  10. I have a Godin which is relatively similar to that (in appearance at least). It plays well and sounds pretty good for the money; would recommend the company.
  11. I'm not convinced by this notion that being 'independent' makes it 'good', and that a limited budget justifies any discrepancies in that principle. I don't think the christmas proverb, 'its the thought that counts', applies in the business sphere.
  12. Could you use it to terminate dogs?
  13. There was a Joy Division album I really liked - nothing like New Order though.
  14. I just mean adventurous enough to not feel the need to play popular cack purely for the purposes of ensuring the place stays full; as if everyone would jump ship without a servile red hot chilli peppers remix or Blue Monday.
  15. Nah, kidding aside, it was me. Just started saying it at the bus stop one day. Don't know why, just did you know, totally random, like a whispered-shout sort of thing, staring at everyone's faces, bobbing my head like a serial killer.
  16. That's why Exodus exists. Why have every club playing every style of music? Anyone can go anywhere and have a great time because they are gauranteed to like one in every ten songs.. Thus said I assume Aberdeen is too small to support any reasonably sized contingent of people who are actually interested in music. Not griping; this is elementary, I just think Snafu could get away with being more adventurous.
  17. Can you please stop writing like this. It makes things very difficult to read. So I don't usually bother - looks like the specs on the side of a Spaghetti Hoops can. More like a spreadsheet in fact, each point neatly and clearly marked, as if we couldn't discern your teachings in regular paragraphs. Gives me a right old headache.
  18. In answer to your original question. Some twat. The Priory.
  19. More importantly, when will it, err, fucking go.
  20. I just think that the Arches is an entirely different experience, not necessarily better or worse, and Boho is just plain shit. Without meanig to contradict myself - I've had mixed experiences at Snafu - it is actually one of my favoured places to go...just think it's slightly over-priced. 8 on a routine night, just to keep out the riff-raff? As with the music, you hear something really good, which you haven't heard before and wouldn't hear in other clubs, then all of a sudden you're in a wedding reception or school disco - 'how does it feeeeeel' - which kind of makes this exclusive reputation seem slightly unmerited.
  21. Ever been to a ska gig? There's an experience that'll put you off life for a week!
