  1. Friday 11th Feb @ SNAFU > R I T O N !!! (Carte Blanche) Riton aka Henry Smithson is hailed as one of the UKs brightest talents. Whether its his pulsating DJ sets, genre crashing team ups (Gucci Soundsystem, Die Verboten) or the multitude of original productions and remixes under his belt, Riton has gathered accolades from every corner. Knowing no boundaries, his enchanting remix touch has breathed 4/4 life into artists as diverse as The Mystery Jets to Robbie Williams. He was first signed to Manchester label Grand Central which spawned the debut album Beats du Jour, and its follow up, Homies and Homos. Not content with providing the soundtrack to the nations nights out, 2008 release Eine Kleine Nacht Musik was a more down tempo homage to his Krautrock influences, aptly showcasing another side to Ritons prolific musical creativity. The second half of 2009 saw another stunning collaboration, this time with Primary 1 on Whos There (released on Erol Alkans Phantasy Sound label), and a slew of incredible remixes - with his take on Kid Sisters Right Hand Hi causing chaos in clubs. As if there wasnt enough strings in Ritons musical bow, most recently, hes partnered up with Ed Bangers Dj Medhi, to form the house music-focused Carte Blanche - All in all, ensuring that his name continues to be on the nations lips, garnering new fans from all sides of the musical spectrum. This is Ritons second appearance at Snafu, and after smashing it uplast time, we cant wait to hear what hes got in store. 3. SATURDAY 29TH JANUARY 11pm-3am MOTHERSHIP AND THE OFFICAL MOGWAI AFTERPARTY With SILICONE SOUL + MOGWAI DJ SET + ADAM ACKERS SILICONE SOUL Since first appearing on Slams mighty Soma Records, DJ-production duo Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie, aka Silicone Soul, have occupied a special place in the over-crowded field of electronic dance music, mainly through the depth and quality of their recordings plus innate understanding of musics grand heritage and its constant development. Theyve always turned their heads away from vacuous trends to follow their passion and instincts, famously turning down Top Of The Pops for their top ten hit Right On but happy in the knowledge that every single they release kicks off in the underground clubs; esoteric, melodically-textured and underpinned by a compulsive, euphoric throb harking back to the earliest days of disco. In keeping with Somas in-house mix swapping, Craig and Graeme have remixed several names on the roster, including Slam and starting their Darkroom Dubs imprint in 2003 to venture deeper underground with a roster including Mirror Music, Sei A and Extrawelt. Silicone Soul have also adapted themselves to live gigs as they tour extensively; in the last year theyve left indelible footprints anywhere from Murmansk to Melbourne, while holding residences at Barcelonas La Terrrazza, Antwerps Caf DAnvers and Pressure, Slams current club at The Arches where it all began. In 2009 Silicone Soul received two nominations in DJ Mags Best Of British awards (Best Album, Best Producer). Their accompanying praise cited, a name that encapsulates the marriage of the synthetic and the sincere at the heart of their musicnot only one of Scotlands most exciting and challenging dance acts, but Britain and beyond. 2010 seen remix EPs from their last Soma album and label compilation Darkroom Dubs Volume II Mixed By Silicone Soul, a second collection of exclusive, unreleased and favourite tracks from their label, which stands tall as one of the years best musical journeys. Recent releases include Silicone Soul Remixed for Soma, featuring Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Prompt, Nhar & Klartraum and Time Mariners Mirrour, for Darkroom Dubs. 2011 - They play Snafu :0) Advance tickets ***ONLY 8 (6 for members)*** from One Up, Athenaeum (no booking fee!) and Ticketweb here TicketWeb

  6. MOTHERSHIP PRESENTS. !!!!!!! DAVE CLARKE !!!!!!! With support from: Greg Gibb & Ackers ... Dave Clarke, known as The Baron Of Techno, a moniker given to him by John Peel, is one of the most respected (and idiosyncratic) techno DJs and producers in the '90s. Clarke began his music career as a hip-hop DJ in the mid-'80s, shifting to acid-house and later rave near the end of the decade. He began recording for Stress (as Pig City) in the early '90s and also appeared on R&S, XL and his own Magnetic North Records. By the mid-'90s, he had gradually shifted away from rave to a brand of straightahead techno with the ferocity of hardcore yet the sublime feelings of classic Detroit techno. A series of three singles named "Red" gained fame during 1993-96 (the last went Top 40 in the U.K.), as did his ferocious DJ sets. Clarke's phenomenal album debut Archive 1 appeared in 1996 on Deconstruction. Clarke also mixed two volumes of the crucial electro compilation series Electro Boogie for Studio !K7 Even after all these years this electro connoisseur and techno pioneer remains a step ahead of the competition and one of the best DJs on the planet. He refuses to adhere to trends and hypes and continues to do what hes best at. 'White Noise' is the name of Dave's radio show, featuring the newest techno and electro cuts, next to DJ-sets from the best jocks in the world. His main motive is delivering music to the ears of his global dancing public. He plays out every weekend everywhere. To name a recent few, The Rex in Paris, Klubbers Day in Madrid, Buenos Aires, Fabric in London, headliner of Britain's Glade Festival, and he programmed and headlined his own stage at Holland's Extrema Festival in 2008 and 2009. At every event there's the same attention to detail, his sets swooping whip-smart along the cutting blade of techno and electro backed up by a seasoned bag of DJ tricks that pushes the whole caboodle to the next level. His set at last years Rockness Festival was indeed the highlight of the festival for many a techno head. Doors: 11pm 3am Adv.
