  1. I agree. Sound is where it's at really, unless your a collector. It's funny how people think a battered old relic of a guitar is cool, but when you put stickers on it, then it's naff. That's not to say I'm going to stick a Durex sticker to my LP, although it might be good for wanky guitar solos, or should I say wonky guitar solos in my case. I usually think Dusty has some good things to say, but on this occasion I think a little of the mark. Live and let Live:popcorn:
  2. I have a Ducati 916 and a Yamaha DT175MX
  3. I was that! Although it went down hill after they got the flashing dancefloor. Some great night and sounds in there.
  4. I saw someone with a guitar on a plane last week, so I think it will be okay. One thing though, it was in a gig bag and not a hard case. That could be the key.

    Are you winding us up?
  6. Sorry Lloyd, not much into Fender although I've had several amps and guitars over the years. I would like another silverface twin though. I play a Robin now. I think those are more popular in the States than here. Pity as they are great guitars.
  7. As this is supposed to be a appreciation thread....I have a old battered Squire strat, it plays, and feels better than the 2 strat plus's's's's I used to own. I put emg's in it and it now sounds better to.
  8. Gee! I'm nae sure aboot that Pimp job, I thought AAA Recruitment fixed the cleaners job in Peternapper! As for that coffee table job, well it sounds like a load o'shite, and I got enough smacks when I worked on the door in the Big G...so I'm still looking.

    Boss manuals drive me mad!!
  10. Anybody got a paper round for me? I want to buy this. eBay.co.uk: 1959 1960 GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD SUNBURST WITH PAFS (item 160085258230 end time 23-Feb-07 18:10:24 GMT)
  11. There are so many points I could quote from this thread that I agree with, both pros and cons, but it would take too long to do, and I'm on my lunch break so no time. Bottom line for me is that they were good early on, but went down hill, IMO, with later stuff. I remember boppin' to Roxanne years ago, but never understand where they fitted in, were they punk...nah! were they reggae...nah! What were they? I liked them then, but doubt I would go to see them now. I would raher see The Men they Couldn't Hang reform:up:
  12. Talking Heads 77, to replace the LP Stone Roses, to replace the LP, and lost CD Jeff Buckley, Grace
  13. Would rather see BRMC than the Killers. Seen BRMC before, great stuff.
  14. I like some Dire Straits. Although 'Walk of Life' always reminds me of weddings. Which I suppose could be linked to being dull, as your highly entertaining life usually stops once you get married.....or is that just me. Only joking dear!! here have a glass of Cava. Cheapskate, me....nah!
  15. Hey min! that'll be enough o'at hippy shite.
  16. Nevermind Brian May being a tube. There's been quite a few knobish, tubish, totish things written on this thread. Now why is that....it's because we are all allowed our point of view. It seems to me that to be classed a 'good' band on this site, you need to be obscure. Gee! we all have records in our collection that we wish we never bought, some by bands that have sold 10million, and some by bands that have sold 10! well maybe more than 10, but you know what I mean. I remember watching a band in my local one night years ago. They were selling 7" singles of their new song. I bought it because I thought is was a good idea. Took it home and played it twice. Now it's taking up space next to my T Rex , Slade etc singles. Basically we all like different stuff, be it food, drink or music. That's what makes us, us!
  17. Don't get me started on these Superstar Fundraisers. I've had it to the back teeth about hearing how these stars are doing great things for charity. I remember Live Aid being on the, and a presenter saying something along the lines of: Young Abby Smith (not real name) just donated the five pounds 26 pence she made from helping her mum with the housework. Then he went on to say how a guitar superstar (who got the Cream!! -I have withheld his name ) donated 25K, and how very generous he was for doing it. Who gave the most, Abby (her all) or the Superstar (a fraction of the wealth)? If these superstars kept even only 2 million of their wealth and gave the rest to charity, there would be whole villages, if not regions, in Africa and the rest of the world better off and living a better life. What did Midge Ure do when he came back from his travels regardin Live Aid? He sold a few of the vintage car collection, and down sized his house from large mansion to a smaller mansion. Probably still kept plenty of dosh though. don't get me wrong, I don't give all my money to charity, but I do give some....but I don't make go on TV and ask other to give all they can afford. However, I do agree that everyone is allowed their say on things..
