  1. Sounds great. Looking forward to hearing some recordings.
  2. I'm a still a non-diddling role model for the masses. I agree that Allen is a weird case in that you can't really separate him from his prime films, due to him being right in front of you on the screen. Manhattan is one of my favourite films, but I can't pretend that the central romance ever sat all that well with me. I suppose considering all the oddball troubled creative geniuses, it stands to reason that a few of them are going to turn out to be real monsters.
  3. If you can successfully post a gumtree ad but can't google what kind of guitar you're selling, you're a pure nugget and deserve fuck all for it.
  4. Buying heroin with money you earned from acting - fine. Buying heroin with money you earned by stealing from building sites - bad.
  5. I watched that sucker the other night! Great cinema. Verhoven is the man.
  6. You sound a bit too exciting for the gang I'm afraid.
  7. I currently drive a Volvo, so it looks like a Tabasco enema to me.
  8. VW are allegedly putting a 250 BHP, AWD Polo into production. I want one.
  9. Good thread. There's not much crossover between what influenced me when I played drums in high school and what went on to influence me in my fairly unambitious songwriting. Drums wise, it was down to solid classics - Led Zeppelin II, Nevermind and, ahem, Rust in Peace by Megadeth. Songwriting wise, I think Songs From Northern Britain by Teenage Fanclub was crucial - the vocal harmonies and sweet guitar melodies really got me. I also revisited Pet Sounds from a perspective outside of just singing Good Vibrations in the car. Lastly, Silver Jews' Bright Flight was the last album that really blew my mind from the position of my own songwriting. Seriously well crafted lyrics.
  10. Critical essays are like pleasing a lover. You're rubbish at them.
  11. All the best YoungA. You're pretty good at English for a non-native speaker. Today I'm high as fuck as I've smashed 2 jumbo cups of Ethiopian Sidamo. And now W.O.W. for about a week. Kill me.
  12. Girls did lose its shine pretty swiftly. I've acquisition the first couple episodes of the new series, but I haven't been arsed watching them yet. I sort of suspect that under it's arty New York surface, it's pretty much Made In Chelsea for cool people.
  13. It holds a plot down way better than Venture Bros for example. The voice acting is pretty much all big hitters too. It can be a kinda gratingly self-aware at times (taking the piss out of its own spy cliches etc), but generally really great writing.
  14. Chelsea Peretti is dead funny. Her character started as kind of a blatant rip off of the secretary from Archer which kinda bugged me, but she's definitely coming into her own.
  15. I'm all about Detective Diaz. She's like a Brookyln Ron Swanson.
  16. Ask nicely ya insolent brat. I jest, no probs.
  17. I reckon it's due to the polite children being too sensitive. Get those wimps in the army and toughen them up.
  18. I got on board with Brooklyn Nine Nine. Occasionally very funny thanks to the Captain, consistently amusing thanks to Andy Samberg's funny face.
  19. Tickets booked. Bring the noise!
  20. That looked like a copy of the Daily Express just threw up. If it makes you feel any better, the worst behaved kids are probably getting thrashed harder and more psychologically damaged by their parents behind closed doors than any military cunt could ever inflict on them without getting put in jail.
  21. Sell it to me: why should parents be forced to hand their kids over to the military (who of course are across the board great folks), regardless of their political opinion and regardless of how good a job they did at raising them to be responsible free thinking young people?
