  1. In all seriousness (and Warden aside), it's a pretty damn good cd. Especially for something coming from a band based in Montrose.
  2. Fuck no Warden! Tel will be up there laying groupies with the best of 'em.
  3. There seems to be a hefty shower of moany bastards who would rather sit at their computer complaining about the state of their beloved scene than get off their arses and do something constructive to support it. It's just so much easier being a fucking know it all I presume.
  4. Supporting the local scene! Warden rules. Hot Rats - FZ Give Up - Postal Service The Dissociatives album. Fuckin' Belter.
  5. Blink 182s challenging role in the first American Pie: "Woah, dude, woaaah etc." Ah, to be 15 again. Tom Waits had a decent part in the shit Dracula film with Keanu Reaves, and Spongebob Squarepants has an awesome Ween song at the start of the credits. And there are non more rock and roll than the Hoff. Just ask East Germany.
  6. Who says there's a general problem? If venue owners don't have enough revenue to buy comfy bog roll due to lack of interest, yeah... there's an issue. If epic bands are going fucking hungry because they can't get a gig thanks to El Promoter putting on mountains of sonic crap, something's wrong. If you hate the scene, why expect someone else to change it for you?

    Bassists!

The deal is, my band requires a bassist to fulfill its need for sonic completion. We've been jamming drums and guitars, but it's still lacking that little something something. The band so far consists of a drummer (eighteen), guitar/vocals (nineteen), and guitar/vocals/synths(nineteen). We've been playing Million Dead and Hot Water Music covers to kick us off, but fresh material is already being played around with. As bassist you could feel free to bring as much or as little to the table as you felt comfortable with.
  9. Folk bands don't need drummers... Just two guitarists and a shitload of single malt whiskey.
  10. Pair of us are 18. As long as volunteers are over 17, it'd probably be fine. Nice if you can get into a pub though.
  11. Fishman. Nothing else. There are some really good soundhole pickups. Problem is, they're really expensive, and a lower quality one will make your smokey toned acoustic sound like a Fender Telecaster. I installed a Fishman piezo crystal pickup in the bridge of my Yamaha, and it works a charm. Aesthetically it's the best choice, and it only cost about 80 quid. Main problem with these is you need to actually drill into your guitar to feed the cable through the bridge and then solder some stuff. If you're not confident enough, you're gonna need to pay somebody else. If you don't mind the risk, I'd say the piezo.
  12. Aberdeen hardcore/punk/tech band being formed. Influences such as Refused, At the Drive-In, Fugazi, Million Dead, Dag Nasty etc preferable, but we'll offer a shot to anybody who feels they can bring something to the table. You're forming a band, not joining one, and it'd be handiest if you're in college, in uni or generally have a lot of time on your hands. Ry
  13. Get a Yamaha Pacifica. A bit more pricey, but one of the finest starter guitars kicking about.
  14. Well I like the cut of the Discount's jib. It's jaggy.
