  1. at my next gig i'm going to get a wig of long dirty hair that hangs over the whole of my head, a really shit baggy t-shirt of some really bad death metal band and play constantly hunched over trying to look angsty. mendeed rule.
  2. That is truly horrific...umm...i don't know what to say other than how can anyone enjoy that. It's just pointless noise. what an awful waste of a decent name.
  3. stayover, aberdeen's answer to dashboard confessional.
  4. What I'd like to know is why so many people who are into the promotional side of music have such a lack of experience in either management or marketing. Companies who want to promote a product don't hire randoms off the street who have a 'keen interest' in the subject matter, they hire trained PR people who know what their saying. Now I'm not throwing daggers into the wind with a blindfold on, I'm probably wrong. Sometimes experience and contacts are better than actual training, but it does suprise me why venues are willing to allow people who are only really bothered in treating it like a past-time when its as important a part of the business side of things as say an accountant. Also i always thought a bunch of posters ,some sticky substance (not male reproductive fluid), a brush and a car were all you needed to do postering properly. It's not as if the chances of getting caught are that high and there's only so many posters the council can be bothered washing off before realising they'd be better providing a suitable location for this activity.
  5. Atreyu, Underoath, Billy Talent, Silverstein, We are scientists, The Ataris, Panic! at the disco. I think all are available around the beginning of May...i think.
  6. btw I have nothing against my minds weapon i would in fact love for them to make it and go as far as it is possible for them to go. But Jamesy's current attitude towards people who won't get him where he wants to go, which is basically to treat them like their inferior, pretty much sucks. And that's a shame because i used to really like the guy.
  7. he writes like the presenter of brasseye speaks, thats amazing.
  8. i seem to understand the basic principles of international law, the relationship of the diffrent structures of the european community, the effect of state courts on international law and a whole heap of other bumf related to mind-numbing yet intrinsically complicated topics of law, yet your one sentence response stumped me. I do have to say though it must take heaps of brains to do what you do. yet saying that you can't be overly brainy cos you still haven't seemed to work out how to get a record contract...um. p.s why is it that the other members of your band are nice guys yet you've turned into an arrogant shit. Bring back the old Jamesy.
  9. i'm guessing from your failed attempt to be smart that the point is to make life hectic? I don't see what this will achieve but, you know...go for it, follow your dreams!
  10. fair enough, i had just come out of an exam and have another one at 3 so i'm jus pissed off and wanted to rant about something. Your right it will bring in a crowd. Aren't you playing rapturefest the next day...hectic.
  11. what is it with the tunnels and their random 'lets pick the bands out of a hat' line-ups. Or maybe it was a bit of a 'who can i get to support this gig? Ah fuck it i like the band so me and my mates from glasgow will do it'. Oh well at least flood of red are decent.
  12. Tonight the night...support from 25th is not an option* and another band but i forget who. *www.myspace.com/25thisnotanoptionrock
  13. I would rather have a bunch of 15-18 year olds down the front going absolutely tits than a bunch of scenesters standing up the back with a pint of blackcurrant cordial and a look on their face like 'i can't wait to get home and talk pretentiously on Ab-Mus about how amateur this band was and how the 'kids' down the front prevented me from standing at the front conducting myself like i'm at a wake rather than a gig'.
  14. To be fair, if you can't work out that website in under two minutes i think that qualifies you as a degenerate. I like the idea, although there are two things i think could be improved, the text is quite impressively small, more to the point the numbers system at the bottom left could be made more obvious. Also the main text blurb kind of blends into the centre image, you can highlight it to read it better but that kind of defeats the purpose. I like it though, I'm designing a website so i want to implement some of the techniques shown here. Although i'd like to make it more 3D and 'In Yo' Face'.
  15. That's a well sweet line-up to be added to. Quite a late addition to the bill though, the rest of the bands were confirmed by november. Just noticed that we have the pleasure of finding out about this even before they've had the chance of posting the information on the website.
  16. I think you should listen to 'nunwhore commando 666' cos their ace, industrial/grindcore/death metal' isthe future of music: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=4089690
  17. The thing about the music scene as it stands now, compared to the 60's and 70's, is that there are litterally thousands and thousands of bands out there trying to make a name for themselves. This means its incredibly hard for one or two acts to stand out against the rest. The era of stadium rock is gone and has been replaced by what i'd call 'bedroom music'. John Peel was one of the main instigators to this change. Showing, through his radio show, that theres more to music than the five or so main bands that were being played non-stop on daytime radio. Personally i feel that rock as a popular artform, i.e bands getting into the charts, is dead. The bands that do, or the so called 'singer-songwriters' (OMG they play and write their own songs..shock!) are weak and do not reflect the rock industry as a whole. I think that right now i'm glad to be right in the midst of this, just because i'm spoilt for choice. If you don't believe me just type in 'A' in myspace music, too many awsome bands too few opportunities to make it.
  18. O.K on the island it was amazing, kong fighting the t-rex's one word...epic. Then they get to New York and it's like wtf! If i had to witness one more scene of her gazing in wonderment at Kong i would have run out screaming. I just don't get it, call me a synic, but when she starts climing up the building what the fuck is she thinking 'oh this is nice look at the view'...where the fuck did she think he was gonna end up aside from a bloody mess on the tarmac below. its not exactly a sustainable relationship is it, its probably a good thing he died cos her life if they had gotten away would have been fucking boring. O.K that's not the point cos that's how the story is supposed to go, so aside from that, the acting from the female lead was appaulling (i hate actresses with one mirror-trained facial expression) Jack Black was good at points but just didn't fit into the film, he's too 'look at how funny my face is'. And the script at points was stale to say the least. Also Billy Elliot, stick to ballet your no-good at anything else. Best bit of the film for me was the way Kong was portrayed by Andy Serkis, brilliantly done. You could tell he spent weeks learning how real Gorrillas express themselves. And his role as Ships chef was the best played part in the film after Kong. Although the getting devoured by slugs bit was a tad gruesome for a 12 cert.
  19. freedom of speech is granted by article 19 of the european convention on human rights. The only restrictions on the right countenanced by this article are those which are “provided by law and are necessary: (a) For respect of the rights or reputations of others; (b) For the protection of national security or of public order (ordre public), or of public health or morals.” Nevertheless, Article 19 must be read in conjunction with Article 20, which prohibits “any propaganda for war,” and - of crucial importance for present purposes - “any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.” To that end a fascist has just as much right to conduct his free speech as you or I, however, where his views go so far as those stated in Article 20 he recinds those rights and faces criminal prosecution. At any rate if some-one in a black shirt and a red arm-band stood up and started shouting away, ala Mosley, he would most probably be linched.
  20. my favourite quotes about women: "Women are like elephants. Everyone likes to look at them but no-one likes to have to keep one." WC Fields "Even if man could understand women he still wouldn't believe it." AW Brown "Where would man be today if it wasn't for women? In the Garden of Eden eating water melon and taking it easy." C Kennedy (not the guy from neighbours, although that would make it even funnier) "Age to women is like Kryptonite to Superman." K Lette "Girls have an unfair advantage over men: if they can't get what they want by being smart, they can get it by being dumb." Y Brynner "I'd much rather be a woman than a man. Women can cry, they can wear cute clothes, and they are the first to be rescued off of sinking ships." G Radner I just think: give them what they want and let them find out how you got it later on.
  21. like bob i like bands who only have 10 fans, don't tell anyone about themselves and have really obscure names. That way i feel like i'm part of a private members club...that you're not allowed into...so STOP ASKING ABOUT THEM!!!
