  1. Where for art thou Dusty ??? Can't believe it - this post has been running for days and Dusty has contributed to one of his favourite subjects - The Lester o_O IMHO - great guitars, but an acquired taste. I've sold both of mine and bought a high-end Strat coz the LP's just plain don't fit me. I've been playing Fenders for too long now. Fantastic tone, but for me personally, too different from the Strat for me to enjoy. Sometimes wish I had started with a Les Paul, but as a kid who idolised Richie & Jimi, I guess I never had a choice..... DZL
  2. Rugrats Quality! I think I'll adopt these two and set them loose on my houseproud, tosser brother-in-law's Kingswells breezblock "palace" DZL
  3. Sopranos All, Here's one for all you Sopranos fans...name gangster movies that the cast of the Sopranos have played in. I'll accept also accept cast members who have played gangster roles in other movies. You can name the actor or their Soprano character name.... Please avoid using IMDB or any other movie or Soprano site Here's some starters for 10... Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts) - Goodfellas Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy) - Gotti, Revolver Lorriane Braco (Dr Jennifer Melfi) - Goodfellas Michael Imperolati (Christopher Moltisanti) - Goodfellas Steve Buscemi (Tony Blundetto) - Things To Do in Denver..., Reservoir Dogs Robert Loggia (Feech La Manna) - DZL
  4. I would tend to agree - there are similarities in the structure and production of both movies (tracking shots, info subtitles, voice-overs) - but I think that the casting of two of the main actors - especially Pesci in a similar shouty, violent & funny role - from the Goodfellas hasn't helped Casino's own identity.
  5. It's a REALLY old movie with luvvie-darling Sir Dickie Attenborough as a very convincing baddie. Also notable for the presence of William Hartnell - the very first Dr Who - Christ!!! I know some useless shit o_O What's significant about "Brighton Rock", I think, is that the book was very topical at the time it came out, dealing with the razor-gang issues. I suppose it was the English counterpart to "No Mean City". Great book, great movie.
  6. Ps - That's two hours now and I'm shocked none of the usual pedants have been on here telling us that it wasn't Scotch it was a bottle of something else.... Brilliant dialogue.... "it's verbals or frostbite" "Why Colin? he wouldn't have hurt a soul.....well, only when it was necessary....and it was always quick"
  7. Some good movies listed so far. How could I forget "Once upon a time....." and "Carlito's Way" ? Good entries so far, although "Things to do in Denver...." sucks big donkey cocks. It's a poor Tarantino knock-off - shame, coz it's a great cast and Treat Williams' "Critical Bill" character deserves a better movie. Still, each to his/her own. Not a movie (would be the longest in history if it was), but the entire Sopranos series is right up there with Goodfellas & Godfather I/II. The programme has a level of consistency matched only by The Simpsons for continued quality. Speaking of Goodfellas - has anyone seen the special edition interview with the real Henry Hill? - Fascinating stuff. He sums up his gangster life by saying that real Wiseguys spent their whole lives walking around basically shitting themselves - and looking at the fates of some of the characters in both factual and fictional gangster movies - I'm not surprised. DZL
  8. Best one I've heard in ages.....
  9. It's your party - cry if you want to, cry if you want to, cry-ay if you want to....
  10. Too many to mention, but in sort of an order.... Godfather II Godfather Goodfellas Donnie Brasco Scarface (Pacino) Get Carter (Caine) Casino A Bronx Tale Untouchables King Of New York (Christopher Walken is brilliant) Performance Gangster No #1 Villain Gotti New Jack City Godfather III ...more to follow...
  11. The "Bakester" a good character actor, despite some shite early films.
  12. "Kenny Loggins" and "high quality" are mutually exclusive 8)
  13. Agreed - despite being a ging-er , Jamie is the dogs. I've spent a klondike in there in the last couple of years and he always makes a good deal for me. If anyone from Bruce Millers management is reading this - here's a guy who knows how to treat customers. Billie's a nice lad as well and a hoor of a guitarist (the c**t ) I can understand people buying off the 'Net, but unless it's a significant saving, or something I just plain can't get up here, I'd rather spend that few bob extra and boost the local economy. The after-sales service in BM's has been very good - in my experience anyway. Glad you like your new RG - the speed merchants tool of choice
  14. Mi-i-ght just be interested, if my Marshall rig (JCM 2000 TSL100, 1960A Cab) shifts on eBay. Will keep you posted. Fit like is the general condition oanywyze ? DZL
  15. Theatre Of Pies Saturday, 14 October 2006 Bank of Scotland Scottish Premier League Kilmarnock v Aberdeen, 15:00 ...so you've got us at Ruggers in mid-October then? I'll need to go back down to the Theatre of Pies for that one. DZL
