  1. Me I didn't. But I'll tell you about this... R Kelly, Double Up | Urban | Guardian Unlimited Music
  2. When they do the Sister/EVOL tour mebbe I could be persuaded. I saw at least 3 dates of the Daydream tour first time around... still bummed at missing the Sister tour in Glasgow when I had been down at college the night of the gig. Only noticed the poster the next day: curses.
  3. I think I might still have the video of this somewhere.... Oh dear. and the Like A Virgin tour taped oft telly. Blame Sonic Youth I say.
  4. Hey, my strat has a satin neck! Not an issue. Although I like the idea of a 'dark circuit' the switching would probably need modding as well...
  5. In chronic-a-logical order only: Hawkwind (When I hear Silver Machine I will always be 5 years old) Slade Buzzcocks (The first time around) The Cramps REM (pre Warner Bros period of course) The Velvet Underground Tim Buckley Sonic Youth (til major label sell out...) Dinosaur Jr (but really only with Lou Barlow, obviously) Bonnie 'Prince' Billy (Bonny Billy/Will Oldham/Palace/Palace Music/Palace Brothers/Palace Songs/etc.) Is that 'of all time enough' for you? And I missed out Nick Cave and Momus coz I can count...
  6. Yup I would disagree with ya on the full size 'bucker. Oh and I'd have a rosewood board as well, oh, and a sunburst. I'll reserve judgement on the satin neck though, not too sure to be honest. But apart from that...!
  7. Fender Products Oh dear, I think I just found what I was looking for....
  8. Maybe you should have got one of these: Fender Products ? I think thats the one I want!
  9. Yeah, reckoned on needing routing. fancy a covered double HB for aesthetic reasons...
  10. Must admit the mini HB's look pretty neat. I think I saw one like that somewhere on the fender website...
  11. I was thinking more like the squier fat tele (I'd post a link if I could work out how to) but based around a us guitar.
  12. I'm ruminating on a possible guitar, basically a US Tele with a humbucker at the neck. As I'm neither a police fan nor minted the Andy Summers tribute is out of the question but kind of shows what I mean. More kind of like Johnny Marrs I'd prefer to be honest. So it'd mean buying a tele then getting it moded. It would have to be a covered HB (for aesthetic reasons). So what are the suggestions? Oh I suppose I want a Matt Sweeney LP sounding thing really...
  13. Oh, I see we're allowed LP's now. Well in that case: Country Comfort - a K-Tel special. One of my very first LP's (the other, well that was embarassing). All the greats, Johnny Cash, Dolly, Don Gibson, ah... New Wave - cos I was about 12 and it was punk as fuck. And it has Love Comes In Spurts & Piss Factory Oh, by the way, these are my favourites As for cd there was a Victoira Williams benefit that I quite liked at the time. For completists there is a big feck off Nuggets boxset (with an additional 3 cd's) but the original is best by far(and spotted in Fopp a while back at a 5 - don't know if it's still there though). Oh yeah that Clicks + Cuts cd I really liked some of the stuff on that...
  14. I saw them 4 and a bit times on the uk daydream nation tour. they weren't as good as i was wanting them to be (and at the time i lived and breathed the youth). lesson: be careful what you wish for!
  15. EVOL was the one I heard in 1-Up on promo and loved it straight off. Its what kicked off my SY mania. I never got the Teenage Riot thing either. I 'got' The Sprawl, Eric's Trip and that one with Mike Watt talking over Kims amp though. Oooo. I loved that record so much. I love this as well. Brilliant versions of Satisfaction and Wild is the Wind.
  16. I disagree. I had it on tape for about 6 months before they released it (to avoid drawing sales from daydream nation I think). I loved it. I had that on one side and D/DN on the other. I used to f/f to get back to the Whitey. I'd give it an 8 to D/DN's 6 (but then I rate Sister and EVOL as 10's).
  17. He's on tour at the moment (but not here): TOURS
  18. Don't know if anybody knows (or cares) but I've just happened across these interviews. First one is Chicago Folk Radio interview: http://audio.wbez.org/specials/2006/10/sp_20061007-BonniePrinceBilly.mp3 The second is from the Reykjavik Grapevine: Connecting Through Music - The Reykjavík Grapevine Online
  19. Ah well my memory isn't as bad as I thought! I recalled it being a Fender but then thought nah, couldn't be...
  20. I reckon you could do a lot lot worse than the Pacifica. I'd be interested to see what the Vintage guitars are like (as they seem to be getting pretty good reviews). Also those Squier Custom Tele's would be a reasonable starter. But what do I know, my first guitar was a Fender/Squier? Bullet that the bridge screws kept on droppingto the scratch plate... Whadya expect for 129 from Brucies (when it where the Bon Accord Centre is now!). In case yourmaths is pish yes it was fecking years ago (almost a quarter of a century ago!)
  21. I was going to ask where the volume/tone controls and selector switch were. But then I thought the better of it... How the hell do you happen upon stuff like this Dusty?
  22. Without trying to be flippant you are treating the symptoms, not the cause. You state you hit stupid loud dB's at some points. For prog rock? I thought it metal/punk that wanted stoopid loud, well there you go, you learn somehting new every day. Just turn it down. You only get your hearing once you know, don't fuck with it! Quiet, man its the new loud!
  23. Finally, finally got the Amalgamated Sons of Rest cd for my christmas. I can now die a happy man.
  24. The Sun Awakens - Six Organs of Admittance Meek Warrior - Akron/Family The Milk-Eyed Mender - Joanna Newsom Ys - Joanna Newsom The Best of Luna - Luna Life and Liege - Fairport Convention Houses of the Holy - Led Zeppelin Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
