  1. If it's entirely subjective then people have the right to say they think something is shit too, I don't think anyone is trying to tell people what they should and shouldnt listen to.
  2. Awful design? It seems the main criteria for a "band logo" are use of tacky photoshop effects, cheesy fonts, horrible colours and lack of anti-aliasing. Oh and of course if the band is anything to do with metal, usual some crappy flame effect, skulls and an undreadable "font". Who would have though musicians would have such a terrible sense of visual aesthetics?
  3. also use it on the lowest hob you have on the lowest setting, if you have the heat too high it will work too quickly and become bitter. It should take about 8-10 minutes to finish, just turn it off once it starts making gurgling noises.
  4. Actually he played loads of stuff I liked, a highlight of which was FSOL doing one of the first live shows streamed over the internet on his show... anyway if you are seriously suggesting john peel would have loved amy winehouse, jamie cullum and james blunt etc, personally I think you're quite wrong. oh, the irony.
  5. Just out of interest, did john peel play a lot of manufactured mainstream pop music? Was he keen on the spice girls and so on? no...didn't think so.
  6. brilliant, turnkey absolutely deserved to fold, I don't know anyone who's had a positive experience with them.
  7. Or you could just download everything for free at a higher quality.
  8. well she did go to stage school along with the likes of lily allen, to be taught how to become a performing monkey. You know, the british equivalent of the Mickey Mouse club in america that produced such "real artists" as britney spears, justin timberlake and christina aguilera...
  9. in my experience, I find it stays fresher for longer in a sealed container in the fridge rather than in an opaque kilner jar out of the fridge (where I used to keep it). I use it all up within a week to 10 days usually anyway.
  10. I usually buy freshly ground in small quantities, like 150g's or so and keep it in the fridge for freshness.
  11. Oh I see, so I'm not allowed to have an opinion unless I'm actively supporting the local scene now? If you people can't tolerate a difference of opinion without resorting to name calling, or suggestions that I'm telling people how to live their lives, then the internet probably isn't for you.
  12. No, I feel that paying over the odds to see a mainstream band you've heard millions of times before perform their reportoire seems utterly pointless, as I said in my inital post. I'd rather broaden my horizons and hear something fresh than line the pockets of people like radiohead. But of course, as you say, people are entitled to do what they like.
  13. The "point" is hearing music you haven't heard before and otherwise wouldn't know about or have access to. It's as simple as that. And no, I don't really watch live music.
  14. Hey if you don't have anything meaningful to say, don't bother posting.
  15. No, that's not what I'm saying atall actually.
  16. Your whole concept of what a DJ does is totally skewed. I would pay to go to a club night with a good DJ that's likely to drop some fresh dubs and knows how to mix. I wouldn't pay 25+ quid to "see" someone like q-bert though.
  17. Oh I certainly wouldn't pay to listen to someone shit like that (i.e "DJs" like Dave at exodus).
  18. l o l this is a discussion forum, not a radiohead fanclub. I'm not telling anyone how to live their lives, that is just the usual reaction of insecure people who cannot tolerate a difference of opinion. You might even come to understand that yourself one day, when you grow up.
  19. Yeah you should try exploring it, if you can break away from your slavish pavlovian responses to mainstream popular culture and begin to think.
  20. That's because unlike the complacent, passive and unconcerned "natives" of this country they are actually willing to stand up for their rights in the face of massive prejudices. So I suppose in this way they are more british than a lot of us who were born and bred here.
  21. I fail to see the appeal in paying extortionate sums of money to watch someone play a song you've heard endless times before on a cd you can probably buy in asda. Unless of course you idolise the band and think that seeing them perform live somehow brings you closer to them, or think that in 50 years time you'll tell your grandkids "i saw radiohead live in 08".
  22. a pub or club isn't "indoors", and this isn't the fucking 1920's. I don't see why any venue would demand something like this, particularly when cctv on the door will presumably capture the faces and general dress of anyone who is coming in. Surely if you have a hat on, it's going to make it easier to identify you later on in the tape if need be?
  23. sounds like a totally pointless and expensive outing to me, although I suppose if you're the kind of gullible loser that idolises people like tom yorke you probably deserve to be ripped off for every penny you have anyway.
  24. since when did it become normal to take your hat off in a club?
