  1. T2: Trainspotting - So, this was a disappointment. Following the characters of the first film 20 years later, but not following the plot of Porno, this just relies too much on nostalgia. There are far too many cuts of the original movie and the characters are treated in such a way, that they no longer seem believable. Begbie feels like a cartoon villain and lacks the real menace of the original. 2/5
  2. I am listening to the new Japandroids album right now.
  3. Does anyone have recommendations for storage boxes for CDs? We have over 1000 CDs that don't get listened to, as we much prefer vinyl or using Spotify. However, we don't want to get rid of them, so we would be keen to be able to store them under our bed. I've had a quick look online, but nothing has really been wiggling my wand.

  5. **THIS FRIDAY** the 20th of January we will be putting a concert at the Blue Lamp to help raise funds for a much loved man, Abdul Suliman, who is battling small cell cancer and is in urgent need of treatment which may not be available on the NHS. To help Abdul get the treatment he requires we need as much of you to come along as possible. All the money from the door will go straight to the gofundme campaign which you can find here: https://www.gofundme.com/sulimanproject. We hope to see you there! 6. Sing Street - A musical comedy based in 1980's Dublin, but it's not The Commitments. A teenage boy has to go to a state school due to his parent's money problems and forms a band with some other misfits. Heartwarming stuff and overall very well put together. It's on Netflix, so if you want an easy watch I recommend it. Two thumbs up
  7. Goodnight Mommy - This is an Austrian horror film, which is a simple story of a mother returning home after an undisclosed surgery to care for her identical twin sons. Dear me, this was one tense and dark film. There is a good twist at the end of the film, which is hinted at throughout. Some of the violence I felt to be a bit gratuitous but overall this is an excellent modern horror. It left me feeling quite unsettled after watching it. TWO THUMBS UP

  9. Has anyone else been watching The OA? I've seen six episodes so far, and I've been sucked into the story. It is ideal binge television.

  11. I am always curious to the path that also-ran footballers take in their careers and this has lead me to find out that Liam Miller, the Irish international footballer that turned out for Celtic, Manchester United and Leeds, is now plying his trade for the Wilmington Hammerheads. The 'heads (as nobody calls them) are currently in the fourth tier of American soccer, which leaves me imagining that the level of football is marginally above a one legged arse kicking contest.
  12. In no particular order: Angel Olsen - My Woman Okkervil River - Away Skylar Gudasz - Oleander Laura Stevenson - Cocksure Ben Seretan - Bowl of Plums Goat - Requiem Nada Surf - You Know Who You Are Haley Bonar - Impossible Dream Xenia Rubinos - Black Terry Cat School of Seven Bells - SVIIB Difficult to pick between the Ben Seretan, Okkervil River, Skylar Gudasz or Xenia Rubinos are my favourite of the year.
  13. Rogue One More wars than star. Good robot bantz, a bit thin of character development, but it doesn't hurt the story arc. TWO THUMBS UP
  14. Can you disable Facebook Marketplace notifications on ios? I did a quick google search, bit I couldn't find a decent answer.

  16. This gig promises to be a cracker! We've got the wonderful The Murderburgers coming up to promote their SUPERB new album 'The 12 Habits Of Highly Defective People', we have Watchfires who'll be airing brand new stuff off next year's 'already sounding epic' new album, our best pals Green Beers will be doing their always entertaining thing, and we are very excited to just have added on Bird Law (formerly Das Macmanus) whose new material really is some scuzzy punk goodness! Limited discounted tickets availablle online £6 (+bf) (https://tinyurl.com/gvelucv) Tickets on door (which I don't think there will be) £9
  17. It is irritating to work in an open plan office when a colleague leaves on sound notifications for their computer, especially for emails.
  18. Thanks to everyone who has streamed and downloaded this so far. If you haven't, I hope that you are planning on giving this a listen.
