  1. Once upon a time I could play 3 five-a-side games in one day, but I was 2 stone lighter then, and had non-knackered knees. I'd probably have a heart attack if I tried it again now!!! (but thanks for asking, anyway....if you're ever having a gentle kick-about, zimmer frames for goals etc, then I'm your man). Dashing off to pubs now to celebrate the Timson & ShaunF thread going mental.
  2. Nah......couldn't risk skiving off work. I watched the final at my folks, and nearly broke a ceiling light when the Dons scored. Then I headed down to Union Street for the party. I only had a season ticket for one season, and that was the one!!!! (But I went regularly from c 1966 onwards apart from playing Amateur league myself for a few seasons). However, like yourself I'm never there nowadays (hangs head in shame).
  3. Does it have both legs? The first leg wasn't live on TV here, but I got my mate in Germany to video it off of German TV. The second leg was my favourite match at Pittodrie ever. Sorry Kasule guys for hijacking the thread!! I'm really looking forward to the gig at Drakes.
  4. Sounds like my kind of song.....I should be arrested for singing! Dougie Bell was ace.......he really took the piss out of Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Cup-Winners Cup Quarter Final. If I was naming a band after a Dons player of yore it would be the Zoltans, after Zoltan Varga, or maybe Basil, after Davie Robb.
  5. Oh, yeah....I remember him now!!! Is the Dougie Bell mentioned the same one who played with the Dons? Of all Vic's bad behaviour, surely the most atrocious was singing a George Benson song. That alone should have got him banned sine die
  6. Thanks, Graeme.....that's the chap! Mind you, he never turned professional. My son gave me a t-shirt with Giles Heron on it (played for Celtic in the 50s and is Gil Scott-Heron's dad). I don't support Celtic, but I DO like Gil Scott-Heron, so it's cool.
  7. I am an old guy and I haven't heard them. Sorry....I will endeavour to lend an ear to one of their "waxings" pronto.
  8. They did an album with Kevin Coyne, who is a hero of mine.
  9. Hmmmm...... Vocals....Jeff Buckley/Robert Wyatt Songs by Syd Barrett/Ray Davies Electric Rake.....Eugene Chadbourne Keyboards......Ivor Cutler/Nico Guitar.....Tony McPhee Cello.... Arthur Russell Bass......Danny Thomson Drums....her from the Shop Assistants Electronic washes...Jim O'Rourke On-stage announcements....Viv Stanshall Dancers.....Stacia & Bez Fans......Timson & ShaunF etc etc Barstaff......Dr Drakes
  10. They must've been married then!
  11. I seem to remember a TV prog about a year ago which said that Andrew Watson was the first black Scottish footballer, but it matters not. I'm pleased they support their local team, anyway....
  12. Hey, Ghost!!....after Emmerdale finished I tried again with my socks off, and if I attack the PT-20 from the top (ie turn it upside down, I can do it!!! So I'll give it a go at the next Audio Dropouts night (last Friday of the month). Did you see Miriam of Black Forest/Black Sea playing the omnichord with her feet whilst she bowed her cello? Cool!!!!
  13. This figures....I was kind of reminded of Lotte Lenya the last time they played (she sang lots of Kurt Weill stuff, and was Rosa Kleb in From Russia with Love....the unpleasant wifey with the knife in her shoe)
  14. I also thought it was damned sexy music....in a warped, sado-masochistic kind of way. (Not that I know anything about these kind of things).?(
  15. I actually did try that last night, but found out that the button was too small for my toes, plus the cheesy aroma caused me to cowk! I think I'll just press the button and keep it minimal.
  16. No...I couldn't find it either....just a site under construction. Still, the real thing will be here very soon!
  17. Thank you for that massive compliment, ragudave!!! Funnily enough my 2 vinyl albums were reissued on the same label as Guided By Voices (the label was called Get Happy!). I like the early stuff, and kind of lost interest after Bee Thousand, but I've been told I should have stuck with them.
  18. Alasdair Roberts!!! Excellent choice......did you see him at the Lemon Tree last month? (or the Music Hall/Drakes last year?). Also he's got a few Aberdeen connections.
  19. I've just checked....it doesn't have its back cover, but still plays ok. (It DOES have its original box though)
  20. Well....I have two. My spare one doesn't have its battery cover, but I'll happily swap it for something, if you've got any spare bits and bobs.
  21. Hey, Satyam...... If you google "WFMU Inner Ear Pandit Pran Nath", and then go to the first prog on the list you'll find a brilliant raga by Pandit Pran Nath, where he half sings/half mumbles various krishna-related stuff. I thought it was wonderful!!!!! (It's right after one of my poor efforts)
  22. Were you having your "lunch" at the time?
  23. Agreed, Chilli! The Lemon Tree gig was a memorable night. Puerto Muerto managed to be dark, amusing, aggressive, gentle and downright weird all in one set. I even bought one of their CDs. Seeing them at close quarters in Drakes will be awesome.
  24. Well I started to download it, then got scared in case any devout believers turned up at my door and kidnapped me.
