  1. Saw the pierces in glasgow last night ... Really decent
  2. I've got a work in progress... melody suitably festive but lyrical content to be confirmed. Probably electro comedy.
  3. Last gig I was at: that final for that £2k competition in Drummonds on Friday. I don't agree with introducing competition and rivalry into music, especially at this level. It ends up causing friction and disappointing people. Anyway, other than that it was a cracking local line up. Although I didn't catch the first two bands, from Amy Sawyers onwards was great. That was my first time seeing Stanley and thought they were superb.
  4. Forgetting you are at work, you've got your headphones on and a song you love comes on that you always sing along to and having to catch yourself at the very last moment before really going for it. It's like trying to stop a piss just as you open up...
  5. That's pretty much it. I walk to work though so just leave the porche there. I just got my first "have you got grass?" chat at the coffee machine at the new place I work. I hate that conversation starter... at my old work that was high up on the regular lunchtime chats. Cutting the grass and gardening or football or the odd dog walk/car washing combo. Never felt quite at home there. I leave my car to get dirty so people can draw on it.
  6. It's so easily done. Once they lure you in it is very hard to move out of it. The "rewards" packages just get bigger.
  7. Started doing a business that I'm passionate about. Unfortunately I'm now up to my waist in the oil slick... but they pay well. Makes the business part a feasible indulgence
  8. Anchorman Oldschool (don't re-watch this quite as much as I did) Elf 40 year old virgin Shawshank Redemption Flight of the Navigator I find I need comdey or feel good when getting over a hangover - generally the only time I have to watch movies these days.
  9. Anyone wanting to hear a new track check out http://www.soundcloud.com/tacoandthesharpies Newest addition, although one of our earlier tracks is called 'love me one time'
  10. Yeah, it is quite good. I've just set up an account for my Label persona rather than my normal work persona. Hoping to get some links with people that would be quite hard to find otherwise. It's like a yellow pages with extra information on the people you are searching for
  11. Ah sorry... the chord organ has been promised to Chris now. I'm sure you could get a shot of it if you asked him nicely though. You can have the memory one though. May have some other bits and bobs come up when I have a clear out!
  12. The first jam last night went really well... sound is big and we're only at 50% musicians!!
  13. Gater's bitches better be using Jimmys

  14. Got a couple of Bontempi organs that I bought from someone on the boards a while back. One is a chord organ and the other is a memory organ. They are fairly naff but could be good for some of you guys doing lofi recordings... really lofi. The chord organ has some nice qualities, the air starting up and clacky keys (you'd have to mic it up); it's a bit noisy in a nice way for the rough and ready approach. It basically has the same kind of sound as an accordion or harmonium. The memory one makes a really basic sound and can somehow remember short passages of what you play in... it could be useful for someone. Free to a good home
  15. Ok it's on bitches... first gig on the 22nd October in Tunnel 2 for the Oxjam takeover. Anyone interested in seeing a 10 piece jazz/funk/hip hop band with beatbox, scratch DJ, brass section and strings then it's the gig for you.
  16. Cheers man. Shame our first gig clashes with the one you are doing on the 22nd.
  17. Studio looks good man! Maybe come past and check it out when I'm in Glasgow next month if that's cool?

  18. I got love for Pearl Jam... I went to Leeds Festival a few years ago especially to see them. Had to endure My Chemical Romance too but it was worth the pain. Liked Stone Gossards solo album and also what I've seen of Matt Cameron's jazz influenced group Harrybu McCage. Favourite Pearl Jam track is probably I got shit.

  20. I think it was from thousands into a pool of 600. Still a massive way to go! But we're not about competitions at all ... it's really a chance for some quality mastering and some decent exposure for our guys. Hopefully get some extra traffic on the soundcloud as a result. Anyone else enter? The 17th Letter Label is coming along nicely at an even pace ... I'll be posting a thread with a full description of what we're doing there but only once we've gotten our brains around the website we're setting up. Oh on that note... any web programmers that are reading this and fancy getting involved in the development of our Audio Boutique and Label website feel free to get in touch. We're rocking a wordpress site. We ain't got no money for this kind of thing so you'd have to be doing it out of interest and to get involved in a local Label.
