apparently booking a venue, selling shed loads of tickets, getting a few bands to play before you, then having the lead singer of the band "fall down the stairs of the tour bus" works wonders for band publicity!
why am i getting the feeling the advice given included these words in no particular order: bargepole, touch, don't, 50, foot, with and a from the lemon tree and from the autorities: licence, to, wave, your and goodbye
bands that have been more fucked up on drugs then pete is have managed to pull it together to do world tours, and still be out their faces on drugs. Pete is just playing up to the press image of him, to increase the hype surrounding him, just like the Gallagher's were when they were challenging everyone to fights.
i realised that when i posted. What i ment was that with a good reputation behind them, the band promoters will realise that having bands playing there is benefitcial(sp) to both the band in terms of getting out to the public, and for them in the money in the pocket stakes, and the fact that some people happen to not like a certain club nights has no baring what-so-ever on the numbers at gigs.
past Original Guns N Roses lineup, the verve, the who, would have been good to see New Radicals as well. Present Placebo, Greenday, Queens of the Stone Age, Bon Jovi and if they ever tour again the cranberries.
i saw them on the greatest hits tour a couple of years ago, will be trying to get tickets, but as interpol and kings of leon are playing the weekend following, i may not have the money.
i remember hearing that at a music festival where ICP were playing, a fight broke out between their fans and the fans of the other bands playing, and despite being hugely out numbered the ICP fans still won the fight before the riot police were called in! On another note, there were six (i think) members of the band to begin with, but after stopping somewhere on the way to a gig the other four members fucked off and only shaggy and jay were left to do the rest of the gigs.
a site you may want to check out for info on other types of music in Aberdeen (prob more RnB and Dance) is www.belmont-street.com As for letting people on here know more about other genres i would reconmend, as others have said, start a thread about it. If there is a night or gig happening that you know about mention it, if people are into it, they will probably show up. Also if you get the chance to talk to either the organisers or the artists themselves, direct them here and get them to sign up and post, if there is enough demand i'm sure Neil would create a new board for the artists or the genre.
i was supposed to see them at the Garage last november, the gig was cancelled but i wasn't that fussed as the only reason i was going was because my mate had tickets and the the people who were supposed to be going had pulled out. As for the coming of the clowns thing, all the pervious albums were saying they were evil clowns then the last album revealed they were acting for god. The wrestling thing is they were part of the oddities in WWF (when it was still called that), then they started their own federation which was beating WCW in the rating in the US before WWE bought WCW and spawned the backyard wrestling game. Personally i think the music is crap and i really wish i didn't know all this useless info about them. Oh and they did that slim anus song
yeah that does make sense, just ashame that he never finished the last book that was supposed to tie it all together. It's also a shame that he never got the chance to do the Dirk Gently film that he was supposed to do before the hitch hiker film, but hey shit happens
was that the collection of the odds and ends he never manged to finish? if so i have it somewhere, read most of it, interesting to read some of the letters and articles.
