  1. yes but the whole point of the trilogy is that it all contradicts each other. The radio show is the original, the books go into greater detail and includes things missing from the raio show, the tv series misses out huge chunks of stuff from both the radio series and books, the game has nothing what so ever to do with all the other forms of the trilogy and the film as i mentioned before has a character that is not featured in any of the other mediums, and will probably give the finger to some of the other stuff mentioned in the books, tv and radio series.
  2. they were filming the destruction of earth scenes earlier this year in London
  3. and the role john plays, douglas adams wrote specifically for him and created the character for him.
  4. Personally i like the so long and thanks for all the fish and life the universe and everything. The writing and way the story flows in those two books are great. You should also try and get hold of both Dirk Gently books and Starship titanic, which was written by Terry Jones, but is from the DOuglas Adams game of the same name. The tv series goes upto the end of Restaurant at the end of the Universe, and details of the film can be found here and here .
  5. my friend just called asking if i wanted to go and i mentioned it at the aka the fox gig, but lack of money and having coursework resit to do mean i can't.

  9. Yup your right there. Two gigs in Scotland both at the Barrowlands 15th and 16th of October. Now do i get tickets or not?
  10. When i was working at the video shop the McAllister's used to come in to use the sunbeds, in fact Jason ( i think it's him, the one who recorded the fastest speed on the Aberdeen-Dundee road) still has outstanding fines. He is a nice guy to talk to, just wouldn't mess with him. Also anyone who has spent any time in Mastrick, Summerhill or Sheddocksley must surely know Buckets
  11. Yes it's the national anthem in that it's the British national anthem. A search on the internet shows that either 1) England doesn't have a national anthem or 2) the national anthem of England is Land of Hope and Glory. The fact that both Scotland and Wales are the only nations that have individual national anthems just goes to show how proud the people were of being independant' date=' and the fact that England doesn't just shows how arrogant their ancestors were. Northern Ireland are a special case given all the trouble they have had over identity. Actually if you want to get into semantics England is the only country that has never been defined as either a nation or a country by boundry lines. Whoever split the countries that make up Britain, defined the borders for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, but just labelled the rest as England. So if anything England is less of a nation than Scotland.
  12. No chance due to it being hijacked by football casuals of a certain nation not that far away from us, also it's already the Great British national anthem and unofficial english one.
  13. Right as far as i'm aware so far we have covered the fact that rune doesn't read any posts that answer his gripe. We have covered that it's a wind up, the major stores, clubs, the media and compared it to microsoft. So where we heading next the fact that none of the cruisers at the beach play alternative music, that the buses and trains don't pipe it in for all the passengers to enjoy, the fact that you can't enjoy the gental strains of thrash metal while sitting in the doctor's surgery or while in a lift? Yes it is a sad state of affairs but the bands that you seem to think are suffering so much, still put out albums and singles don't they? therefore both the band and their record compnaies must be happy about the exposure they are getting. Sure they may never appear on top of the pops, by the fact that they are not pop bands means they more than likely won't. Oh and the point Dave brought up about valhalla was relevant due to the fact that usually clubs get songs before they are released, therefore if people hear it in a club and like it they will tell thier friends and so on and the song becomes a hit. How do you think whigfield, the macarena and other pap did so well in the charts?
  14. he used to come into Mcdonalds at Holburn all the time. We called him smokey bacon man due to the smell that emenated from him.
  15. yeah he used to go into McDonalds ask for a large cup then went to the toilet and filled it with cider. I also saw him being chucked out of Yates for asking for change constantly, and was absolutely gob smacked to see him at the last manics gig in glasgow
  16. just out of curiousity how many times have you gone into a the stores mentioned and heard happy hardcore dance, classical music, country and western, bothy ballads or even the singing kettle? They all have their fans and charts but do you ever hear them being played? no because they are not mainstream and popular to the masses, but people still know about the genre's and still buy the albumns cause they have heard it on whatever radio station they listen to. With the internet and digital tv/radio you can find somewhere playing the music you like and enjoy, and if you feel so passionately about the type of metal you listen to perhaps you should be trying to help get caged back up and running and help make it popular so more people will hear your preference in music, and it might make it into the mainstream. As it has been said before shop workers are NOT dj's, they don't take requests, thats what listening posts are for. Stop whinning like a bitch about something you can't do anything about and get active in speading the word in other ways, such as getting caged back!
  17. When i worked in a video shop, i was told the highest rating of film we were allowed to sho by law was a 12 certificate. I also know this is the case at hmv as when i was having problems with a 15 dvd i was told they could only put it on to the part that was playing up due to the rating of the film. (of course after 8pm it was usual to shove on a 15 film)
  18. Doesn't Virgin have that stupid store radio station thing? As for hmv, one up and fopp, they probably do play the metal but when it's quiet as during the busy periods, the majority of the shoppers want to listen to stuff that make them happy, and if they are happy will spend more, hence the reason it's more mainstream chart stuff. Unforunate i know but most of the time they have a list of songs (talking about the chain stores here) that they have to promote during the busiest periods, to encourage sales of those albums, and to keep everyone happy. Im sure if you asked they would play what you wanted, but can pretty much guarantee that as soon as you left the shop it would be switched off.
