  1. Ahhh there was one song that had a really similar bassline to Gigantic. Third last song I think. But apart from that' date=' you're right, there didn't seem to be any Pixies influence. I only brought them up cos folk always go on about Black Francis being the one to make screaming in songs trendy. Especially Nirvana fans. And you're right, I didn't really properly explain what my problem with it is. Basically, it makes me feel like shouting out "I feel your pain maaaaaaaaaan"... It just seems very cliched, very "look at me, I'm tortured and angst-ridden and really in touch with my emotions" or something like that. Some people can do screaming and pull it off (eg Mike Patton), some can't. [b']In my opinion, Aerogramme's singer falls into the latter. But I'm always willing to be proven wrong.
  2. 1. The album STILL isn't out. 2. The compilation DVD Closure is "wrapped up in legal wranglings" and won't be out till at least early 1995. Legal wranglings? The videos were made for NIN songs and they are going onto a NIN DVD. What the fuck is there to sort out?
  3. That's not what they were saying when the mercury nominations were announced. "Oooh three Scottish bands!!!!" "But only two of them are Scottish" "Aye but Snow patrol have based themselves in Glasgow for ages so that makes them Scottish" "Not really" Rod Stewart... he wishes.
  4. Richey Edwards' sister was in Moshulu?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  5. But only one of Snow Patrol is Scottish, the rest are Irish. As long as you have one Scot, you can claim to be Scottish, or so it would seem. GARBAGE!!!!!
  6. I've never understood why AC/DC are never described as a Scottish band, considering Malcolm and Angus Young were both born in Glasgow, and Bon Scott was from Forfar.
  7. Well often you can be totally put off by a person's musical taste, but if you don't know what they're into then you might give them a try out, and who knows, they may be just what you were looking for. But you do have a point. However, I'd just come back from the pub, so I didn't think of that.
  8. Aye but when I say record companies, I mean proper ones And nae just the big ones.
  9. Watch the classic Adam Sandler film Big Daddy, and ALL will become clear
  10. I don't mean to be nasty, but namechecking The Calling and Nickelback is hardly gonna help your cause. Unless Virgin Radio are thinking of starting an in-house band. I mean, as far as lyricists go, they're hardly Richey Edwards or Joe Strummer... you should have just stopped at "I have some lyrics". I know I was sort of interested up to that point.
  11. I'm banking on it not being anywhere near as good as the Glasgow Academy gig. Otherwise I'll be pissed off, cos I'm nae gonna go.
  12. No you're not cos I thought Aerogramme were pish. The ten minute song wasn't actually that bad, some nice nits to it. But overall they seemed very mad-at-our-dads. Well the singer did anyway. HIFH were far better than Biffy I thought, but then I didn't get a good place for Biffy and I'm not as big a fan. HIFH were absolutely immense. Only two snags: Will's guitar being out of tune for the first few songs, and those "FOLDID PAPUR SIZURSSSSSS" guys who did the old "oh look how hard I am, I can shove girls and people who are off balance" act. The fact they were so easy to shove a fair few feet kind of ruined the act. Fools! Otherwise, that was the best HIFH gig I've been to yet. Great atmos. As for Rune, if you thought everyone was so bad, then why the FUCK did you go to the gig????
  13. The Japanese not only get the Yes promo, but they also get a documentary. This is, of course, so very, very fair on UK fans. This looks better than the London Calling reissue though.
  14. Yep. And everyone went on about The Music on The Void (p352) before they were signed too. That's superb news about the interview. It's always the same questions like (eg how did you get your name, how did you form, who are your influences, who would you like to emulate etc etc) but it's still ace to see Dedalus on TV! And it's great exposure.
  15. Physical Graffiti, since every single song on the first disc is absolute class.
  16. 1. The Holy Bible - Manic Street Preachers 2. Generation Terrorists - Manic Street Preachers 3. The Clash (U.S. Version) - The Clash 4. Album Of The Year - Faith No More 5. Mit Gas - Tomahawk
