  1. Aye. It's rather annoying when I forget what day it is and think "ooh it's demos day" when in actual fact it's Wednesday. Also it'd be handier for visiting the websites of the bands so you can check out their demos yourself. The pages change too quickly as well. It takes me at least two rotations to get everything read properly.
  2. I can't wait to see them on Friday. I just hope they play the old version of 21 Ounces, cos the album version is a bit pooh compared to it. I hope they play Taxi and Monkey Love too. They're ace.
  3. Planet Sound is the best music magazine there is. It just isn't printed on paper. It's on teletext on 4, starting on page 350. It's the reason I've not missed a single gig I desperatly wanted to see in the past year so. And on Tuesday's, they review band demos, and also have a wee interview with the band that sent in the best demo from the previous week. Incidently, the Dedalus/Politik EP got 3.5 out of 5, which I think was the highest or joint highest... I can't remember what exactly the review said, except that they thought you were good enough to have your own CDs without putting out a joint effort, and that, like I say, they thought Dedalus were faultless. They're never the most thorough reviews, just a couple of short paragaphs, and this one was basically one paragraph on how you're both good enough on your own merits, one paragraph on how Politik are good, and the final paragraph on how Dedalus are better. I'd have thought that whoever sent the EP in (presumably someone from Dedalus or Politik) would have been looking out for it and would know better than me.
  4. Basically, they used the word "faultless" for Dedalus. Nuff said really.
  5. Charlotte Hatherley's album is immense. Very poppy and very good. If you like Kim Wilde (the song not the singer) and Summer, you'll like the rest of the album. If you don't, you won't. But that's pretty obvious.
  6. Manic Street Preachers (makes them sound like they're telling you some holy truths, which they sort of are... naming the best album in the world ever The Holy Bible was an absolute masterstroke as well) !!! (I'd love to know how you're meant to say their name... I just look shocked at people three times) Public Enemy The Dillinger Escape Plan Guns N' Roses Joy Division (a guy at work always calls them The Nazi Whore band after I told him what it meant) Hmmm... I'm kind of just naming bands I like now.
  7. Past: Manic Street Preachers last gig in 1994 at London Astoria, where they all went fucking mental. Or a gig in 1993, when they still played Sleepflower. Or 1992, when they still played Born To End. Or 1990, when they still insulted the crowds. The Clash, in the earlier days before America destroyed them. Faith No More (but not until Mike's voice had broken, so 1992 onwards.) After that, I'd basically be just naming all my favourite bands. Present: Tomahawk, for Patton is god. And his crowd banter is second to none. I've been pretty good at getting to gigs this year, so I don't think there's really anyone I would have to part with much money or travel for miles to see. Although I did consider going to see Patton vs Rahzel in London the day before the Velvet Revolver gig in Glasgow... but that would have been silly.
  8. I'm going to buy a ticket as long as my uni timetable isn't going to fuck it up. I don't see why they always have to play on a Tuesday in the middle of December, when folk have stuff to do for uni. Argh!!!! The new songs seem quite poppy... VERY catchy, but ultimately shite compared to the first three albums. And pish lyrics, obviously. ANyone going hoping to see them play stunning versions of Faster, La Tristesse Durera or You Love Us, be prepared for disappontment. It's nae 1994 anymore...
  9. I wouldn't know about that. See when I see the term Nu Metal, I think of Limp Bizkit, Linkin park and Korn, all of which I hate. However, I'd like to think there may be some decent nu-metal bands that didn't get the same attention.
  10. I think if you look at all the bands they've influenced, they're more likely to be up for "Band who should have been stopped before they released an album" award rather than Most Important Band Of The Past Decade. But than that's because I hate new Found Glory, Blink 182 etc, and also cos I've never really seen the attraction in Green Day. As far as I can see, they've done nothing new.
  11. Can I laugh instead? But seriously, what's your reasoning behind that statement? Number of bands they've influenced? Scenes started by them? Political movements or social revolutions started by them? I think things like that are how you decide who the most important band of the decade are.
  12. One day I intend to paint I's on every "To Let" sign in Aberdeen. Cos my favourite joke is "Look someone's nicked the I from that sign." Cue groans, before I say "sorry, I've got To Let syndrome." I'm a barrell of laughs. Pity it's empty. Am I right? "You're not wrong." Knowing Me Knowing You episode 1
  13. Hmmm, I like those two songs you've put up. You might want to say when it is you're playing though, so that folk don't have to go to the calendar to check.
  14. Actually, I was in Simpsons last night, and although there were people smoking, it didn't really annoy me much at all. That goes to show what a difference good ventilation will do. If all bars would sort out their ventilation, I would have no problem with people smoking near me at a bar. As long as they don't blow it in my direction that is...
  15. Says the Bench fan... You wouldn't happen to be suggesting that everyone in the world who likes metal is a cunt are you? You Bench fans are making me actually hate the band, rather than just think they're shite.
  16. After a night out, yes. But if I've just been in a pub to watch football, then I'm nae putting a pair of jeans in the wash if they've only been on a couple of weeks........... ahem.
