  1. Mince pie mair like... Never heard that one before...but stranger things have happened
  2. The Beatles' date=' Cream, The Pink Floyd to name but three who played the mighty Moray metropolis...but then bands used to play everywhere back then To be honest...nae idea. Bar/Club I would think
  3. Earsplugs for The Bees... jeez were you inside the bass bin? I've very surprised as they are hardly noise merchants
  4. I saw them at The Loft, Kinloss on Sunday and they were ace....again. Saw them on the last tour at the Lemon Tree with Little Barrie and The Aspects.
  5. Interesting, I'd not heard anything about this. Elgin has nothing approaching a decent small venue. Just a minor quibble with the article "Just months before the release of their chart-topping single From Me To You, The Beatles performed there on five consecutive nights in January 1963." They only played once (3rd January)... I think the writer is confusing the fact it was a 5 date tour of Scotland. And it's actually mentioned by Ringo in the Anthology book. Not a very pleasing memory for him as the audience were shite...no change there then.

  7. Why? Do you know if those allegations against Wille Dixon are correct? Even if they are do two wrongs don't make a right... If it's copying someone's work they should at least credit the original. That was an example of what could happen but I'm sure Kingdom Clone ..er Come were done for something. Anyway, I'd actually love to see a band try it... It can all get stupid though...take John Forgerty who got sued for plagiarism by Fantasy Records because of "The Old Man is Down the Road" sounding too much like "Run Through the Jungle"...which he wrote earlier. The irony ...
  8. Yes thievin magpies. I have a colleague and Led Zepplin fan who is in denial regards this' date=' he just won't accept any mention of it and i quote "I have most of them already on a Mojo CD – can’t see the comparisons myself". Watch Your Step by Bobby Parker is oft quoted for being the source of Lennon's riff for I Feel Fine...but if that is the case at least he changed some notes and the feel. Here's a few other links and it's not just songs they "reinterpret" [url']http://www.iem.ac.ru/zeppelin/docs/FAQ.html#18 http://www.turnmeondeadman.net/Zep/Originals.html
  9. He's been "trying" since it opened but it's a bit half assed. Also I wasn't impressed by him in the lead up to the gig and won't be dealing with him again.
  10. It's just not built for bands in general though. The place is open plan with a really high roof, hard walls and floors and the bands play upstairs round the corner on this pokey little dance area in front of the DJ set up. There's no stage and as for the PA... I was told there was a PA there for a gig i set up for Hot Mangu, Julia's Shadow and Mind Gone Blind and turned up to discover it was part of the disco and nobody knew how to set it up. If it wasn't for one of the HM guitarists figuring it out the gig would never have happened. Ho hum
  11. Sound can be terrible due to the design of the place but at least it's a venue... Julia's Shadow have impressed the few times I've seen them.

Thing is how different is this to any other new chart artists. PR publicity...er pretty standard eh... As for the webcast stuff. I first heard the song on Johnnie Walkers show ages ago and was underwhelmed then...but he was waxing lyrical about it and then there's that bloody JCB song which he also picked up on...but there's so much of that tat on the go. So why blame poor wee Sandi
  13. Shame to hear Billy Preston has died. I bought Concert For Bangladesh DVD last year and his performance was one of...if not the highlight of the show. Great singer and keyboard player.
  14. And then Get Yer Ya Yas Out:laughing:
  15. I bet it's the publishers who have got the ball rolling. Rick Rubin must have realised the danger...i blame him. Some amusing other articles on that site http://www.kkrw.com/cc-common/mainheadlines3.html?feed=104649&article=501529 Bon Jovi: 'I Won't be Like the Stones' The singer wants to grow old gracefully away from the stage. Rocker Jon Bon Jovi finds the aging Rolling Stones a musical embarrassment and vows to retire at the right age. The singer wants to grow old gracefully away from the stage and admits he finds it amazing the Stones are still rocking in their sixties. Bon Jovi' date=' 44, says, "I won't be like the Stones. "You probably heard Keith (Richards) fell out of a tree a few days ago. I don't envision myself being like that. "The minute that this is all nostalgia, that it's the fat guys, I'm out. Until then, I can't stop."[/i'] That's rich coming from a man who's living on a 1980's prayer:D
