  1. Money exactly, it wouldn't be artistic development with that bunch of bland MOR flatliners
  2. Yeah I think they would be excellent to watch as they are all superb musicians.
  3. I've texted my old Sentinel buddy and may make the trip through to the Granite city for my first sighting since The Nightmoves / Wedge days of yore! Still got my Arrive Alive signed cassette and a reasonable condition copy of Red Under the Beds:gringo:
  4. Yeah Achtung Baby was the pinnacle of their career...superb album. Going through the motions since then though... mainly Bono's gobshite
  5. I agree in some respects about your 70s comment although it's mainly the early to mid period... but just coz people went into widdly, epic guitar solo territory it is not the fault of Jimi Hendrix. To borrow from John Lennon's quote "Jesus was all right but his disciples were thick and ordinary.", so people who claim an influence don't necessarily get the point e.g. Oasis.
  6. Agreed and it wasn't even just his guitar playing songwriting, style, production. Every one of his major contemporaries like Beck, Clapton and Townsend were influenced and blown away. I can't even think of why a comparison with Captain Sensible is made. Have I missed something as I can't see him as a major influence of any note. He is funny live though...
  7. Don't know about the all time bit but here's a few Jellyfish - pop perfection Kings X - heavy, soul and harmonious Fishbone - Ska/metal/funksters who were gazzumped by the likes of those white Chilli boys Damien Dempsey - Irish singer songwriter with a Marley vibe Taj Mahal - Blues with a soul slant who then moved into every style imaginable
  8. Yes, the cheek of the man to spout forth about poverty whilst flying his bloody hat first class coz he forgot it... prick Musically U2 have been dead since Actung Baby
  9. Maria Miller from Elgin is pleasent. I saw The Old Blind Dogs a few weeks ago and it was a nice live but wouldn't listen to it at home. Not sure whether what classification this would be under but I find St Andrew - Songs from the Pavey very amusing and quirky. Dundonian weirdness.
  10. Well I would beggar to differ on the titles of both (never heard 1...as 2 put me right off). I've got it on olde worlde cassette somewhere and I'll dig it out if I feel sad over the festive period. But yes, it's shite. The Kinks have some fab stuff, mostly in the 60s though. That Come Dancing effort ...poor fare
  11. Village Green Preservation Society Act 2 is one to avoid. I had high hopes but it's dull as dishwater.
  12. This Saturday (17th) so you'll be too late. Ho Hum
  13. You never answered my question. Do you buy and support artists who are morally perfect and have flawless characters?
  14. Hardly a comparable crime. Lennon was no angel and if that moron hadn't wanted to make a name for himself maybe you could address your "point" with Lennon himself. One thing about the comments Hog and yourself. Do you buy and support artists who are morally perfect and have flawless characters? If not, you're both hypocrites.
