    Bloos

Early Taj Mahal is class Natchl Blues, One Giant Step etc
  2. I just bought One Giant Step by Taj Mahal last month and discovered that Aerosmith lifted the opening lines / melody and general vibe of Hang Man Jury from a Ledbelly song Linin' Track "Walk boy, don't you lie on the track a lac a..." etc. . Tyler (I think) claimed that they wrote it after hearing Taj's version then they moaned coz Leadbelly copyrighted an old work gang song and they now had to pay him some of the royalties . nowhere on their original credits does it say anything other than their own name (i.e. it was not all original). I bet they'd do the same if someone used one of their osngs...hypocrites. From the same Taj Mahal album I recognised a sample used from his Mouth Music song (Mmm mmm mmm mm mm, mmmm mmm mmm mm mm). I think it was used in Beats International - Dub be good to me. Led Zeppelin started their whole career off the back of old blues songs and copyrighting them as their own.
  3. Honkey Tonk Woman - Stones Everybody's got something to hide 'cept for me and my monkey - Beatles Funky Cold Medina - Tone Loke or whatever his name was (was that a Hendrix sample?)
  4. I presume you have Robin Trower's excellent Bridge of Sighs? Latest from me: Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs & Englishmen The Bees - Free the Bees The Phoenix Band - Always Attic Music Concert for Bangladesh (DVD) - Harrison, Clapton, Dylan, Preston et al

    Killing Joke

I've still got my copy of the Love like Blood single, my only KJ purchase. Superb song
  6. Fishbone use one and also that Zep tribute band Whole Lotta Led
  7. Couple early years horrors School band The guitarists decided to jump off the stage and I then followed but my lead was a tad shorter... and came out of the amp. I then have to scramble onto stage and plug in again...much embarrasment. ...many more tales of woe from those days but not really related to me. A few experienced years later in Orkney I went on stage for the 2nd set and plugged into my old H&H but the input fell into the amp...fumbled about trying to get it out of the amp for the whole of the next song. Fortunatley the keyboard player covered. Most famous and funny I know of Blackie Lawless of WASP infamy ...and his exploding cod piece, which went off the wrong way and charred his knackers. Superb
  8. I've never had a Fender, probably due to money reasons initially, but I never really liked the ones I tried either. I like my Ibanez...thinish, rosewood fretboard and comfy.
  9. I started on an Artist Precision copy - heavy duty cheap thing. Followed with a Westone Thunder 1A, Tokia Jazz (which I did not like), Hohner B2A (black/white body - which I loved but the guitarist hated the look of), an Aria Pro 2 Intergra and then my final purchase an Ibanez SGR 800A which is ace.
  10. So that's one in 25 years...but as you say it's your opinion. We'll I will stand by my post they've done nothing to compare with their past glories e.g. Dirty Deeds, Powerage, Highway To Hell, Back In Black
  11. AC/DC were very good. Not since Back In Black have they delivered a great album and have been running over the same ground ever since.
  12. Bon Scott was from Kirriemuir and born in Forfar...but he and the Youngs only spent their early years in Scotland.
  13. Bollocks to genres. If it's good / you like it... simple
  14. Working Class Hero - John Lennon As soon as your born they make you feel small, By giving you no time instead of it all, Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be. They hurt you at home and they hit you at school, They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool, Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be. When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years, Then they expect you to pick a career, When you can't really function you're so full of fear, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be. Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV, And you think you're so clever and classless and free, But you're still fucking peasents as far as I can see, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be. There's room at the top they are telling you still, But first you must learn how to smile as you kill, If you want to be like the folks on the hill, A working class hero is something to be. A working class hero is something to be. If you want to be a hero well just follow me, If you want to be a hero well just follow me.
  15. Well I saw a line from one song with another title at the end...strikes me as odd. So Let It Be
