  1. I was going to ask if you had actually consiered your last point but you mention it anyway. A bit of market research before blindly spending money on anything is always good practice. Also sourcing some feedback about your 'product' to see if it is even worth pushing. It may be that band members are too close to the music to be objective enough to realise that it is not at the stage to spend additional money on so finding an independent ear or ten is a good idea. Friends telling you your band are great doesn't count.
  2. Wow Joe Gideon and The Shark albums is terrific! A triple thumbs up no less Jim's must see gig of the week as voted for by Jim
  3. My choice would be the fifties... It musta been great to hear it all being invented For overall choice of listening, now! I have a shit filter called an off switch

Apologies if he has been mentioned already Limmy anyone. Caught half of the guys tv show a few weeks back and thought it was quite refreshing and made me chuckle out loud, even with the Glasgow accent. Limmy.com some of the content is out there odd!
  5. "4 hours"? hehe, that's pretty much turning of the next night...
  6. Really looking forward to seeing them live. Also looking forward to playing another gig. We are sounding rather good these days even if I do say so myself! Ziggy who?
  7. A two day 'tour' Thats just a day out and doesn't count. In all my days of promoting and running a venue it was a rare thing and pleasant thing for a band to be on time. I did find it was the bands usually traveling the furthest that would arrive on time having allowed for travel time of far more than was needed. Traveling from Glasgow if unaware of the roads usually resulted in bands arriving late and a little stressed having underestimated the time needed. Shit happens and no big deal. Sitting around waiting for a band to arrive, set up and then soundcheck for an age is part of the turf. Suck it up or find away of managing your own time. If there is a house protocol that gets adhered too, as it does in the bigger venues, then a time slot is allowed for sound checking and do or die. No point in moaning about it. This has been happening far longer than any of us has hot dinners, except Graeme C maybe...
  8. And I was merely pointing out how folk can take what a soundman says the wrong way I'm in your gang, that;s if you let drummers in your gang
  9. Did it inadverantly cause a rip in the space time continuum or trip some up as they were passing?
  10. Arite, keep yer hair on? He was only saying. Jeez you Sound engineers guys... (awaits a drummer influenced retort)
  11. I dont imagine an engineer is, always, going to dictate your sound and from experience they will prefer to be notified of the preferences so they then have a an understanding what is to be acheived. If you then start telling them their job then that is stepping over the mark. An engineer, if familar with a venue, will know the dynamics of a room and how things will change when the hundreds of punters appear and are rammed at the front of the stage. Therefore it is best to listen to him/her if they tell you different from what you are suggesting. Although, if an A class clown is doing the sound some gentle and polite persuaion may be needed. Thankfully, due to changes of job description etc, we have a plethora (handfull) of good sound folks in Aberdeen!
  12. I can only applaud your closing statement in last post Ian! Bands should also realise when they are dealing with a numpty soundman and work accordingly. Something that can generally be spotted quite quickly if you know the signs There have been a couple in Aberdeen in my time but I wont mention any names...
  13. That'll do for me! It's really not that difficult unless your an ignorant twat!
  14. Yup, the old 'towel wrapping repair' chestnut. Temp fix, sometimes.
  15. Two repairs now pending with Microstuffed! Although one is only a single red light I'm bluffing my in to see what happens! Microsoft are like a dodgy sales man with counterfeit goods that are nearly the real thing! Microsopht Xbox 380 suits better I would say I wonder why all my other techy stuff is Apple On a plus side no gaming in my house for a while so I may get some music made and work done:up:
  16. *heads for loft to get Megadrive and games* Some ace games too. Cant beat some of the gameplay in those old games
  17. Wehey. I'm nae sure about that fake Scottish accent though...
  18. There something going here that we don't know about?! 20:15 my son switches on his 360 and gets the single red light. 20:30 I switch on the one in the lounge and get the the red ring of death! Two otherwise fine 360's dead within minutes of one another. One of them is a previously officially repaired job. Strikes me as very odd! and annoying.! More over I again have to rant about the cheapness of hardware that doesn't last 16 months o_O:swearing:
  19. No doubt.. Reports suggest that he is already a vast improvement on most of what is available out wide and up front. That sadly doesn't say too much. He was looking good though and reports from the weekend have him as one of the stand out players that gave a fuck!
  20. You in the right thread?
  21. Forbes Street Behind Skene Square School (rosemount area)
  22. Latest on the spaces The Creative Art House SMART Consultants, an independent Aberdeen based 'Arts agency' are currently moving into new project space/main office. Alongside this exciting development we are creating seven office/studio spaces in Aberdeen city centre The Creative Art House is aimed at new and established artists and designers, working on a small scale, that require an affordable modest space to work from and or manage their business. The space will be a walled area at 3x1.5m, house a desk and storage space and have full broadband access for 190p/m (phone to be discussed) Being Artists ourselves we are aware that a flexible space is often needed therefore are happy to discuss individual requirements and do our best to accommodate. This is a new and unique venture for Aberdeen; one that will create a small and vibrant hub for the creative industries in Aberdeen. We aim to have the premises ready to occupy July 09 To discuss this further please contact jim@wearesmartconsultants.co.uk or sally@wearesmartconsultants.co.uk or pm me here. Pass the word along if you know anyone I will add that, due to an alliance with Foyer Graphics we may have to carefully consider housing Graphic Designers. I know I know I know...
