  1. The Foo Fighters have some really good songs, especially Aurora. The Lost Prophets have NO SONGS......I don't just mean they have no GOOD songs....they have NO SONGS.
  2. Didn't the singer wear that "I Love Tits and Beer" t-shirt on CD:UK last week?
  3. I was watching the highlights on TV last night and I was left asking one question.....what the fuck was the boy who "plays" the keyboard/decks for the Lost Prophets trying to achieve? Granted I don't know very much about the band, but I do remember the song "The Fake Sound Of Progress" and what it normally sounds like, and when they played it the guy just screamed indecipharably over the top of the song, it was absolutely ridiculous. Also, is it just me or have the Lost Prophets gone from Skatewear officianado's to Topshop poster boys? On the plus side the guitarist who doesn't look like an Iguana has become the love child of George Michael and Simon Le Bon.
  4. Did anyone watch it? I thought it was pretty good, it was basically around the 5 items that were put in Sinatra's coffin and the signifigance of each item, as a Sinatra fan I found it really interesting, plus there was footage of the Sinatra/Elvis duet of Witchcraft and Love Me Tender which is just unreal. The items were as follows - A ring enscribed with the word "Dreams" from one of his wives. A lighter and pack of Camels (the lighter was said to have Mafia connections) A roll of Dimes (which he always carried with him since the kidnapping of his son as he was forced to make many phone calls from Pay Boxes and he ended up running out of Dimes so he vowed to always carry them with him, his son was later returned unharmed) Tootsie Roll's from his hometown of Hoboken, New Jersey. And of course, a bottle of Jack Daniels. All the essentials really.....
  5. They're much better than Franz Ferdinand, I just couldn't think of anybody else that was known to the masses that sounded like them. But to be honest, they have hand-claps and dancing, you'll fucking hate them!
  6. I only really like maybe 2/3 bands that have just started releasing stuff in the last 2 years so I can't really recommend anythign very new, but on the relatively new (as in not still wearing pink paisley shirts) side of things, I have been mostly listening to..... Ryan Adams (Alternative folk-country) - Tracks to download/find - "To Be Young" and "Gonna Make You Love Me More" Goldfrapp (Electro/Synthy-Pop) - Anything from "Felt Mountain" although the new one is good too. And on the completely not new side of thing Les Baxter (who I recomended to you awhile back in another thread), who did loads of ace Exotica/Lounge pieces, like 60's film soundtrack music with Theremins and other bizarre instruments, I'd imagine it would be rather up your proverbial street.
  7. The Departure are awesome, they look smooth as fuck aswell, especially the bass player, and they actually dance instead of synchronised jumping. They sound to me like a much cooler 80's New-wave influenced Franz Ferdinand.
  8. Main Stage - "Rock and Rollers" Stage Aerosmith Jane's Addiction Kid Rock The Manics (with resurfaced Richey) Spacehog Second Stage - "Synths/Hairspray/Make-up and Sex" Stage Goldfrapp Lemon Jelly A Flock of Seagulls (reformed) The Cramps Wang Chung (reformed) Legends Stage - Masters of the Universe Stage The Rolling Stones AC/DC (reformed) Bob Dylan Guns and Roses (Axl,Duff,Slash,Izzy,Steve line-up) Elvis Costello Jazz/Swing/Easy Listening Tent Harry Connick JR Stephen Triffit as Sinatra with the Nelson Riddel Big Band (close as I can get without a Voodoo ceremony) Jamie Cullum Any good exotica/tiki band doing Les Baxter songs Norah Jones Undergroung Stage - Smaller UK acts Dave Dixon (acoustic Elvis Presley cover's Set) Miss Black America Rat Daddy The Tijuana Switchblades King Voodoo
  9. I find Premier kits sound pretty good and are reasonably reliable. I play a Premier Artist Birch personally, I quite like Ludwig's aswell.
  10. What's the script with Elvisness this year? I assume it's still going ahead, and it's date approaches like a side-burned F1 car, but I've heard little talk of it. What's the line-up? What's the tickets situation? Who's DJ'ing etc? and will the legendary Dave Dixon be compere? It's the highlight of the rock and roll calendar, when the great and the good congregate to celebrate the immortal spirit of Elvis Presley. So can some Hound Dog please inform me further (see what I did there?......)
  11. What a brilliant site! You can book Richard Madeley as and after-dinner speaker.
  12. I've listened to the Postal Service quite a lot in the last few days, I've got a soft spot for a nice bit of mellow Indie-Rock to nourture the soul. Had you been relaxing at the Hilton Craigendarroch during the last week you would have heard one of their albums being played very loudly as two yobs threw New Potatoes off a lodge balcony. It was a friends CD so I don't know any of the song titles, I do like the one where there's a female singer and she says "I must interject here", it's catchy as Herpes.
  13. Tool.....great reply. In all seriousness though, if your going to start a thread give it some clear purpose, tell us about the Taking Back Sunday album and how much you like it, instead of just meaninglessly quoting lyrics that only people who have the album can decipher. Personally, I couldn't give two monkey's about their new album, but if your going to start a thread about it, give it a little bit of substance. This is a message board afterall.
  14. The Daisy Rock heart shaped bass looks great, I've played it aswell and it sounds a lot better than I excpected.
  15. This time last year Bowling for Soup would have been packing the Music Hall to the rafters with eager Pop-Punkers, how the mighty have fallen.
  16. I reckon Keane will get it unfortunately, but I'd be happy to see Belle and Sebastien get it.
  17. I've just been humming along to Cruel to be Kind for the last ten minutes. The opening "ooh's" on In the Meantime are just divine aswell..... Thinking about it, I've placed them in the totally wrong area of my record label, they've been on the go for like ten years and they've probably missed their chance at being the next thing by about 5 years. Still, good band though.
  18. 1 - Aerosmith (Purely because I love them) 2 - Kings of Leon (They look good and they've got some soul in their music) 3 - The Cramps (They've got a pretty well-established and long running career, and they actually remember how Rock and Roll should sound. 4 - The Manic Street Preachers ( In the vain hope that Richey might re-appear and they'll once again be great) 5 - Spacehog (They're pretty well established and have been goign for awhile, but I don't know very many of the 'next big thing' type bands so that's as close as I'm getting) Oh, and my label would be called "Bourbon Soaked Hotpants Records", and it would have a fantastic logo featuring a hot fifties-esque pin-up girl pouring a bottle of Jack Daniels seductively down her tasteless leather hotpants.
  19. Here's a few of my favourites - Rocket from the Crypt The Stooges The Rolling Stones Propaghandi Miss Black America The Glitterati A Tribe Called Quest
