  1. Sublime - This Train (Acoustic Bob Marley cover)
  2. Ben Kwellers cover of Ice Ice Baby is the mutt's nut's. Bowie and the Pixies are about the only ones that grab me, although I'm sure there are some hidden gems playing the smaller stages.
  3. The only one I really know well is "Banana's and Blow", kind of catchy little tune in a mexican style.
  4. If you consider passive smoking to be a major problem you shouldn't be working in a bar. Bar's are traditionally where people go to drink and smoke with their friends, they are smokey enviroments. A person who does not like smoke shouldn't be working in a bar. Should we have to go outside to smoke because people who don't like smoke have chosen to work or come into the bar? I smoke but I'm not much of a drinker and I do on occasion find loud, drunk people irritating, does that mean that we should stop people drinking in bars/restraunts/clubs incase I come into contact with them. Alcohol very often makes people violent and destructive, the majority of assault crimes are performed by people under the influence of alcohol. Think of recent violent assaults in Aberdeen, a huge percentage were carried out in town, outside bars by drunk people. So should we ban alcohol anywhere other than the home? That wouldn't happen because it's FAR more acceptable to drink. Your a filthy cancer-spreader if you smoke, but if you get drunk and 'fuck shit up' thats all just part of being young. People who drink but do not smoke and think your not doing any damage to themselves are seriously dissilusioned. Cigarettes are bad for you but so are fatty foods, car exhausts and according to the Daily Mail...underarm deodrants. If you want to avoid smokey enviroments, dont go into/work in them.
  5. All my big-time musical idols have pretty much passed away now, it's gutting. Frank Sinatra, Joey Ramone and Bradley Nowell all in the last 8 years. At least Steven Tylers still kicking out the jams.
  6. I saw them on channel four a while ago. I was deeply bemused to discover that 2 of them have very similar hair to me, making me look like some massive fan who was trying to look like them, when in reality I'd never even heard them. I was slightly dissapointed as I was excpecting them to be a bit more of a Neo-Glam,Rock and Roll type band judging by their appearance and name but they were a little bland. Still some good chooons though and they did say Elvis was their all-time hero in some magazine. Do they have a website avec MP3's cause I would quite like to have another wee listen as they did have quite a few good songs and a very impressive stage performance.
  7. Sublime - Reggae Dub-Punk as it should be done. None of this recent garbage excuses for Ska/reggae punk that "Scuzz" keep pushing in your face. Bad pop-punk with trumpets does not make a good reggae-punk band. Kurt Cobain blowing his melon off completely overshadowed the death of Bradley Nowell (Sublimes frontman), an equally talented musician who could sing like no-one else (wrap your ears round his acoustic stuff) and play the guitar 'like a motherfucking riot'.
  8. Bradley Nowell of Sublime James Dean Bradfield Perry Farrell Lux Interior Zach De La Rocha Theres 5,not necessarily in order or my top 5. Just 5 top quality songwriters.
  9. So many..... Aerosmith (Silk Scarves and leather trousers) The Cramps (PVC, stilleto's and fishnets) Pre-1995 Manic Street Preachers (Leapord print blouses and eyeliner) Fun Lovin' Criminals (Sharp as a knife suits, shades and cigarettes) The list is almost endless.....
  10. I would say that Art Punk is a more experimental cousin of Noise Pop. Sonic Youth and Superchunk are a good example of the kind of middle-ground between Noise-Pop and Art Punk. I can't actually think of anyone I'd label as a solely Art Punk band though. I can't see how a person could label themselves as Art Punk though, it's much more of a musical style than a clothing/lifestyle. And anyone who says they are Emo are definitelly NOT emo, almost everyone who claims to be Emo listens to bloody Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday, thats not Emo, that's just Pop-Rock with wee screams.
  11. That was just supposed to be a joke. Thinking about it though, it would all make sense..... Somebody phone NME and tell them we have a story!
  12. New Aerosmith album is out now! It's blues-influenced and is apparently actually good! (which has been a rare happening in the world of Aerosmith in the modern age). Buy it now and save yourself from bands that sound like calendar entries.
  13. Clearly you haven't heard the 'Five-Day Rabid Billy Corgan Theory'?
  14. There was a bit in the paper yesterday saying that it can't possibly have been suicide because he'd previously administered his veins with a triple-dose of Heroin and would have been so smaked out of his head he wouldn't have been physically capable of picking up the gun and blowing his head off. One to think about.
  15. The Beauty School Dropouts are to some extent real. We have practised numerous times and do have a few semi-decent songs, except the name is only a working title. When the name changes you'll know that there is not long to wait until we are unleashed.
  16. Well played sir..... I plan to buy the Cramps - Date with Elvis, and whatever I can find by this fabulous band i heard on the radio tonight with a song called "I wanna stick my head in a bass drum". I believe they're called something along the lines of "We rock the way girls cant" but i may be wrong, anyone in "the know" have any info?
  17. Bizarelly,as I was reading this thread, some shite Calling song came on from somewhere. I think it might have been in the background on Black Books or Love Actually which someone is watching next door. Still.......spooky.
  18. I agree they're a headlining band in popularity and crowd numbers, just not in sound.
  19. Agreed. I am a bit of a White Stripes fan and their older bluesy stuff is top quality, but they dont have that headlining band vibe as far as a major festival is concerned. Maybe its cause their not really about big, anthemic type songs, but they definitelly don't have the right sound. On a positive note, their not Coldplay.
  20. Obviously there are exceptions to every rule. My main sentiment is that Emo is just the new-rock movement (as was pop-punk and nu-metal). Not everyone who likes Nu-Metal or Pop-Punk likes Emo but I think you'll find a large percent of Emo fans have previously been big fans of those genres.
  21. Emo is a falsehood. It's just what people who used to like pop-punk now listen to. What pisses me off the most is how your suddenly being "emo" if you have black hair or wear a jumper or something equally ridiculous, I can't leave the house in a bloody jumper anymore without being questioned if I like emo by some little runt. The whole thing is just the background music to the "scene" and i will continue to wear my "Emo Sucks" t-shirt with full pride.
  22. " If you smoke yourself death.....tell St Peter at the pearly gate, that you hate to make him wait, but you've just gotta have another cigarette" - Smoke,Smoke,Smoke that cigarette - Sammy Davis JR " We're a mess of eyeliner and spraypaint " - Stay Beautiful - The Manic Street Preachers Falling in loves is so hard on the knees - Aerosmith "Just because I dress like this, Doesn't mean I'm a Communist" - To have and have not - Billy Bragg
  23. The egg is firmy planted on my face.....o_O
  24. Is the bad spelling joke not most effective when the quoted post is actually badly spelt?
