    Wft!

photoshop yes a kitten could be born with one eye, defects like that happen, but not an eye of that size, it is far too developed for a kitten of that size David
  8. how much for the tr909? a drum machine looks like a pretty cool tool (and an awesome sound if you can use it properly) just wandering how much you would be looking for that one? what are the outputs on it too? is it just a line out or are there other ways to get it working? David
  9. as the title says, we are looking for a drummer and bassist/singer for a rock band playing soem covers, and hopefully some origonal material, covers in the vein of muse, Gnr, Ben Folds (bastardised for a guitar) and anything else in similar styles hopefully with the singer handling bass in songs needing two guitars, and only singing in one guitar songs pm me if you are interested David
  10. they do look awesome, but i would much rather get one sounding close enough, but with modern improvements like led's and dc power check out www.monkeyfx.co.uk the mf3 sounds absolutely amazing, is painted nice and brightly, and has a monkey on it, how can you go wrong? my other fuzz choice is www.procosound.com and the RatII, mass produced, but sounds amazing, and of course the zvex fuzz factory (www.zvex.com) David

    Jobs

I work in the photo lab in boots garthdee pretty cool job really, i do all the work in the lab developing the photos and serving customers, just under 6 an hour so not too bad pay, and it looks a lot more fun than working on the shop floor (in boots, or somewhere like asda or any other supermarket) David
  12. tried going to the foyer once, booked it the week before (on wednesday or thursday for the following monday) and was sent an email on the day we were going that staff holidays meant they wouldnt be open that late (until 8, but when youve been there since its opened, fair enough) it was only by chance i checked my email that morning before leaving (was waiting for another email) otherwise i would have ended up carting a guitar and bass around uni all day (not fun) to turn up with nobody there, or at best find out halfway through the day. fair enough they cancel the booking under the circumstances, but the notice was piss poor, for email i would at least expect a couple of days notice, not on the actual day - i check my email fairly often (a couple times a day when on at various times) and i was lucky to catch it in time. plus the fact they had my phone number from the online form, i had no missed calls... fair enough the circumstances, and booking online, but we did it in advance and it was pretty damn annoying being stopped on the day one bad experience there really, i am sure they go without a hitch virtually all the rest of the time luckily i managed to book toms for the same time/day so didnt have to bother rescheduling or whatnot with the other guys toms is alright, but nothing special, the guitar amps i think are horrible, and try and take mine if i can so i dont have to use them... the guys there do vary between being excellent and being a bit of an arse too though we did try exile once too, alright, but nothing too special, partly due to a retarded drummer (there are cymbals there, but they are horrible, so take your own, which he didnt and spent the time complaining) and not particularly nice amps, lots of space and a nice enough place though thats my experience, a few years of using toms, and one failed attempt at the foyer, intending trying the loc up (if i can get through on the phone, every try has rung out) and the place near mounthooly to see what they are like David
  13. anyone know of any good paintball sites around aberdeen? (and a phone number/website to check) me and a couple of friends were intending to go this weekend, but the place we knew of (skirmish paintball i think?) needs at least 18 people before they will open it for you, and theres only 13 of us in total... so any ideas of somewhere else to go? cheers David
  14. i did like the comment about the first magician to pull a rabbit from a hat being from aberdeen last night David
  15. for a marshall avt, go for the 100 watt, you will probably need the power to get a clean sound at volumes for a valve amp, they put out a lot more volume per watt, so a 50 watt head would be more than enough David
  16. bloody hell, i wander what pressure he had the tank at to shoot it that far? i did see a video a while ago where smoe guys filled a supersoaker with lighter fluid, and created a flamethrower, which worked rather well from the videos (not sure how long it would hold up with the heat though) David
  17. the best one i have heard about... [telesales] hello, am i talking to the houseowner [guy] no, sorry, i am actually a theif who broke in to nick the tv [telesales] oh police appear round at the guys house two minutes later after they were called by the telesales guy joke backfiring? David
  18. a couple of choice stompboxes should do you very well as to what, look at the effects you are using on your amp at the moment, and then play pretty much everything you can get your hands on of that type and see what you like MXR, EH, Boss, etc... i would definately go for a few stompboxes over a multifx though, you have had the effects on yoru amp so you should be familiar with them and know what you want, and buying separate stompboxes means you get a unit dedicated to that effect, rather than a jack of all trades box for the three you mentioned - for a wah i would have a look at www.wah-wah.co.uk get yourself a secodhand crybaby off ebay, then get a new board from stuart to stick in the shell, an awesome sounding pedal tailored to your exact needs for not too many pennies failing that, dunlop crybabies are solid pedals, of which there are a whole range of to suit your needs/price, and have a look secondhand on ebay and the like, you can pick up some great deals, you should hopefully be able to get a jen crybaby or the like (70's italian made ones) for 50ish, and have a look at morley too, a different sound from the dunlops but excellent pedals chorus, boss and ehx both make great sounding pedals, and the newish MXR chorus looks awesome too for a delay, its really either a boss or spending a lot of money on a boutique pedals, the DD3 and DD6 are both solid pedals, and used by countless guitarists the world over, for a more vintagey sound have a look at the EHX memory man too if you had the pennies i would say the echoczar, which is rather expensive, and has a huge waiting list, but is supposedly amazing, but the boss ones should do fine really David
  19. i would say a few lessons when you are starting out is a good idea at least, just to get you used to the instrument and how to play it, and to try and stop you picking up bad habits one thing is you need to find the right teacher, its useless if you get a teacher who wants to teach you to read notation and learn to play along to jazz improvs when all you want to do is play motorhead. so you want someone who is at least in the right ballpark for what you want to learn/do for beginner basses, squier seem to have been improving vastly over the last few years, and some of the newer guitars at least are getting some pretty great reviews (from actual players too, not just musicians) i would have a look at yamaha's, a friend of mine started out on one and it was a solid bass, and the pacifica's are supposedly great value for money and quality, which bodes well for the bass lines, i would also have a look at corts, great quality for not much cash... David
  20. back on the origonal topic, the two things you need to check for getting a cab are the wattage (or power handling) and the impedance you want a cab with a slightly higher wattage than your amp is rated at (amps at full tilt can often put out more than the stated values - old marshalls were rated at the clean volume, it only started distorting when you got past that point) for the impedance, you want it to match the output on your amp, most good amps will give you a choice of a few different output impedances though (usually so you can run more than one cab on the parallel outputs they give you on the back of the amp) but for a single cab, you want it to match what your amp can output, usually 4, 8 or 16 ohms (usually the latter two for guitars, i have seen down to 2 ohms used for basses though) David
  21. becuase it is illegal' date=' downloading (copyrighted) music without paying for it is theft... personally i prefer cd's, i only really listen to music as albums, not single tracks, and i much prefer having the real thing in my hand, with the real cd and notes and artwork, not a digital file plus the fact all music is downloaded in a compressed format (mp3, aac, wma, etc...) if i own the cd i own the best quality available (well, within reason, it has still be recorded digitally [often done that way in the first place now'] so without owning the master tapes or vinyl or something...) even if i may not be able to tell the difference, i much prefer having it if i need it in the future hence me spending another 20 on a few cds from one up today... David
