  1. I don't really know an 'official' account of what went on. Some other members of staff and some doorstaff told me what happened, in their own words, so I wouldn't go about posting it as fact on a forum. All I know for definate is that something kicked off, and the police were still going about the club an hour after closing, watching cctv and talking to the GM, so I'm sure they're looking into it. To be honest, I didn't really notice, I'm in a different room when drama happens. I went to the toilet at one point and thought to myself "that guy from The View looks remarkably like Steven Milne...." before I was told what was going on. Was there anything about it in the papers on Monday? I meant to look. Oh a totally seperate note, Exodus don't sell bottles of wine anymore! I don't think the licencing board were too chuffed with it. Gutted.
  2. You've not been in on a Saturday in a while, have you? Gone are the 'old rock records'. Gone.
  3. I don't have any, but after sitting in to see what it's like, I won't bother. Not in the near future anyway. A friend of mine now has a lovely gaping scar on her breast plate from where the doctors had to cut her open to find the piece of jewellry which had got lost pretty far inside her chest. No, thank you. I'll stick with my 'safe' piercings.
  4. As delightful as the new flooring will be (especially for cleaning), I predict lots of 'Moshulu carpet' nostalgia.
  5. I don't know what I would say is the 'best', but some covers I'm partial to include: Misfits - Day The Earth Caught Fire. (Balzac) Shiny Toy Guns - Nothing Compares To You. Or '2 U'. I forget. The Ataris - Boys of Summer. Amanda Palmer - Such Great Heights. Afi - We Bite. (Misfits) Dresden Dolls - War Pigs. I also quite like Blaqk Audio's version of Blur's 'Girls and Boys.' That all I can think of off the top of my head.
  6. It's alot better than the 4 songs that were just leaked that aren't going on the album. Alot better. Not great by any means though. But I wasn't holding out hope that she'd ever release anything half as good as she used to. I think this album is going to seriously mark the beginning of the end, musically, for Britney. Many would say her last album did that, but I enjoyed it to an extent. Poor girl. It's odd, at the time when her and Christina came out, I'd have put money on Christina turning into the whorish nutcase and fucking up her career, leaving Britney to 'do a Madonna' and just never, ever go away. But looking at how its going, I'm thinking Christina is going to go the long haul. And for some reason, I picture Gwen Stefani doing the same. Maybe it's the hair colour.

    Neighbours!

I did NOT anticipate any kind of helpful reply to that one. Thank you very much.

    Neighbours!

If anyone could breifly explain everything that's happened since Beth & Brad were in that big explosion about 14 years ago, that would be grand.
  9. As if French and German wasn't enough, an ex of mine did a standard grade in Spanish as an extra evening class when we were at school. I'm pretty sure it was at Aberdeen College. But yeah, even if that wasn't suitable I'm sure they'd still have grown-up language courses.
  10. Whole album streamed on their MySpace. I love it. But I would. Breakin' Up is fantastic, it turns out. After 1 listen though, the title track is probably my favourite. But it'll be a different song each listen I give it.
  11. If you're doing this at Aberdeen, then ignore what I'm about to say. At RGU, you don't actually go to Uni if you're doing an LLM in Oil and Gas Law because the whole course is taught on the Virtual Campus, so that you can actually be working in the industry and do the degree at home in your spare time. I don't know if thats any help, but if you're expected to be in full time employment as well, I doubt very much it's going to be time consuming or particularly hard. It also is only 4 modules, 2 of which you'll have already done if you studied Law at RGU. So then you only have 2 modules. And a year to do it. So not too much work. Again, if it's Oil and Gas Law somewhere that isn't RGU, then fuck knows. That's the PostGrad I planned on doing when I'm done, so I researched it.
  12. I'd drop 100 notes in a park, and just sit on a bench and watch people find them. I think that would be amusing. If I won the lottery today I'd be very fucked up. I'd probably party myself to death very quickly, or at least go completely insane. Knowing myself quite well, it would all go to my head and I'd be an awful person. But a rich one. Pro's and con's, eh?
  13. Anyone who was at the last one will probably know it was the busiest/best yet! Now that we've all recovered (I'm not that sure if I have yet...) it's time to get ready for September! Obedience School returns again on Sunday 23rd of September 2007. We've got a new website (currently under construction, but I'll post the address once I remember it), some new faces and some new ideas to make this Obedience School top the last. For those who are unaware, Obedience School is SCOTLANDS biggest fetish night, creating an open/accepting environment for fetish dress, play and even just a bit of voyeurism! There is a selection of dungeon equipment in the back room, with experienced Doms to help/teach/beatthelivingcrapoutta you, stageshows throughout the night in the front, stalls for all your purchasing needs, great atmosphere, fantastic tunes... All the makings of a good, yet very different night out. Some people are quite extreme with it, others are just interested to see what it's like. Whatever your stance, everyone is welcome. All we ask is that you are respectful to everyone in the club, and adhere to the strict dress code (no streetwear ie. jeans/trainers. A minimum dress code of 'dress formally' will be in place on the evening.) Even if it's not quite your thing, it can't hurt to give it a try. Well, it can. But only if you ask nicely. Anyway, much the same vein as the last few - Back room kitted out by Roissy Workshops, stalls in the main room (I'll post more about stalls once we're 100% sure of a new idea we have), stage shows throughout the night... Just the usual fun. Tickets will be available in the usual haunts, Bassment, Moshulu, One Up, Doubley Discreet (dundee) amongst others. The website will have all the details of availability once it's up and running. I'd recommend buying in advance, the last one sold out on the night. This seems like a pretty rubbish post information wise, but I just thought I'd put it up to give those interested a head's up to keep the evening free. Website, flyers, posters, detailed information will be coming your way in the coming weeks.
  14. I prefer Dreamworld myself. Silver Lining is lovely and all, but Blake's voice sounds better here than it has in any other Rilo Kiley song. A'bidy's saying "Breakin' Up" is the best on the album. I'm greatly looking forward to it.
  15. I love Advertising on Police Cars, but I haven't actually heard anything else done by him. Hmm. I should look into that.

    Nazi Pop Twins

I feel bad for those girls. Those obviously aren't their beleifs at all, but I'm guessing by the end that their mother must have said something like "stick to my beleifs or you're out on the street." Well done to the grandma though. The mother reminds me of the 'soccer mom' version of the Phelps-Roper bint. Twat. I really can't understand the thinking of people like her, who think that because she's the only one who thinks that way that she is somewhat 'enlightened' and everyone else is wrong. I do have a little giggle when someone tries to deny the holocaust happened. That's just silly. Pffft.
  17. Lightbulbs first, carpet later. Waaaay. Y'know, as much as we moan on an almost daily basis about the carpet, there's something quite endearing about it. I feel kinda attached to it (ho, ho) in a way. It'll be the best thing ever if they do get round to getting rid of it, but then we'll all sit around going "remember the carpet... ahhh, the carpet." I may suggest to the Barfly men that, again, IF they take the carpet up, that we have some sort of bonfire with it. I imagine it'll be well attended. We should put on a buffet. Or donate it to homeless alcoholics to lick. Either way.
  18. She's a very pretty woman. Like Tweedy - Common, but pretty. Good music too. Her lyrics can be a bit crap at times, but every now and then she throws in a few lines that hit the nail on the head and redeem her. Nice voice for someone who sings in a strong, usually horrible accent. Annoyingly, I can't sing along to her songs without sounding like Martin Fowler.
  19. I doubt it will be out this year with the rate it's going at, but The Postal Service's new album will at least be leaked in part by the end of 2007, so I'm most looking forward to that. Rilo Kiley's also. It depends, but it's possible that Death Cab could get another one in before the years out. But who knows. 2008 will be good for albums. I'll just sleep this year.

    oi oi

Saw a few people mention Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins. That'd be cool, though I did see them twice last year (acoustic and full band), and haven't seen Rilo Kiley in about a year and a half. So I'd put my vote in for Rilo Kiley. They also have a new album out this year, so it's more likely to find a tour there than for Jenny's solo stuff. Of course, Jenny's got a bigger album than Rilo Kiley's new album to worry about this year. So extremely excited, although thats far too much of a long shot to even think about for Aberdeen. EDIT: At least I hope she does. I can never tell if her and Jen Wood are official members of The Postal Service or not. With any luck, she'll be involved in this album.
  21. Blood Brothers. Regina Spektor. That's about it for the moment.
  22. I also noticed that. Surely tidying is something you do when it gets messy? Or you tidy to prevent it getting messy....? Hmmm. I got bored the other day and shifted all my chairs and sofa and stuff so that I could mop my living room floor. It wasn't even dirty. Madness.
